I have seen her off & on for 10 years. Sadly - I also sent no fewer than ten friends to her. Many of them (including myself) experienced getting bills months after procedures - despite having paid the bill in full at the visit. Once - after she called & verified that my insurance covered X-rays - she billed me a month later for those x-rays saying she did not accept my insurance. ?????? Uh - what? Meanwhile - she DOES accept it (It is SAG actors' insurance which she not only took from me before & after this - but also from my friends. Not to mention - she called to verify they covered my xrays. Would you call an insurance company you don't deal with to see if xrays were covered? Makes zero sense. But that is the very least of it. Please - READ ALL OF THIS! Like the person who also left a 1 star rating - I also had Bo fill several teeth - then exclaim they needed refilling a few years later because the porcelain was a "poor quality," - not that her work sucked. Today - I finally saw a new dentist. EVERY FILLING BO DID has to come out. I spent $2500 today having 5 teeth either refilled or fitted with partial crowns because of outrageous decay BENEATH Bo MacDonald's work - none of which is even 10 years old - most of it far newer. My new dentist was horrified at the gaps between teeth she left when she filled my molars, the aggressive use of over filling teeth that needed partial crowns - and poorly drilled & filled teeth - teeth still left vulnerable to the very cavity she charged me for addressing. One of my best friends went to my new dentist because she was having a problem with a tooth that Bo MacDonald had done TWO - count'm TWO - root canals on. It needed another root canal!!!! It was this story that got me into a new dentist's office. Dr Kosdon - btw - who was WONDERFUL!!!! Bo MacDonald's hygienist - DEAN - is a superhero. I adore him - as do most folks. It was him that kept me coming back to see Bo MacDonald. But she is the Dr Mengele of dentistry. Not only avoid her - but RUN and have any work she might have done checked by someone else. My new dentist said that had I waited another year - I would have needed several root canals & several full crowns. Dr Bo MacDonald should have her license to practice revoked. Terribly work & suspicious billing practices. BEWARE!!!!! PS - the dragon lady bedside manner described by the other negative reviewer is very accurate. She is very harsh & rude - which I mistook for competence somehow. She is AWFUL. I guess the platform shoes & glitter eyeshadow shoulda been more of a red flag than they were. read more

The five star reviews brought me in last year when I had just moved into the area and was looking for a dentist close to my new home. All the staff (excepting Dr. Macdonald) are very friendly and professional. They provided great service and the office is very nice. I had been going to my old dentist regularly so I was surprised when I was told I had 15 cavities and 1 watching. I understand they have a new x-ray machine that shows up cavities better so I decided to stick with them and get my cavities fixed although I didn't find Dr. Macdonald very reassuring. Also I was looking to get invisalign so I needed to get them all fixed and didn't want to delay the process any longer. They did tell me that it would max out my insurance so we agreed to do the ones next year that went over once my insurance renewed. She did all the cavities on one side of my mouth. I couldn't eat on that side and it was very painful, I went back every month stating this for three months and it didn't get better. She kept saying I needed adjustments and I kept telling her that my teeth don't even meet on that side (hence why I need braces) but she didn't seem to listen. After four months she said "what do you want me to do?" I don't know! That's why I come to a dentist! She suggested that I needed a porcelain filling since it was such a large cavity - over a $1000. I felt that I couldn't trust her and they just wanted to get more money. Also i don't have that kind of money to spend. She also said it was painful just because it was a large cavity, but I have never had this kind of ongoing pain before. She then went to numb the other side of my mouth to do my other cavities. I had to stop her, exclaiming that I still can't eat on the side she had already done and if she does the other side then I won't be able to eat. Dr. Macdonald did not have a very good bedside manner and I always felt like she was irritated with me. I couldn't bear to go back there anymore. I found a new dentist and it turned out the filing I had trouble with for over 6 months had a leak and needed to be redone. My insurance wouldn't cover it since it had recently been done so I had to go back to Dr. Macdonald one last time and she did redo it for free. read more

I thought Bo Macdonald was a good dentist until she performed a root canal on me that she botched. And she knew she botched it cause she gave me back my payment and sent me to a real endodontist. The endodontist was finally able to help me after two hours but then told me she had botched up the job and left a piece of tool in one of my root in a back molar. He told me that one day I may end up losing that tooth because of the crappy job she did. So here I am 12 years later and I'm going to need an implant because that piece of tool is affecting my tooth and I will have to pay over $1,500+ of my own pocket money to get an implant plus the time and pain. Dr Macdonald should not be performing any root canals that are complex. On top of that, I went to her in 2015 to get a veneer fixed for one of my front teeth that was a veneer done by her back in 2006. I figured I should go back to her since she had already worked on my two front teeth as veneers. Back then she did a good job but this time it was shit! She just did one tooth and not both so they don't match in size nor color. I had given her the original tooth that cracked so she could follow the color and shape but instead she placed a tooth that looks like a chiclet gum. I have been embarrassed of my smile since 2015. By the time I noticed how stupid the tooth looked, she had already cemented it on. I had trusted her to do a good job. At that point I thought I could get used to the stupid smile but now in 2020 I'm going to go to someone reputable to get both teeth redone. Too bad you can't sue dentists cause I would have sued her a long time ago. The chiclet tooth doesn't match the color of the other teeth and so it makes me look like I am missing teeth next to it because they look like they are in shadow. I don't understand why she gets almost 5 stars. Maybe I was just her guinea pig. And on top of that, I told her I was allergic to epinephrine but she would forget and end up giving me epinephrine on several occasions where I would almost pass out. She had to use the oxygen mask. She is a nightmare I would like to forget but my teeth keep reminding me of what she did to me! read more

I went to another dentist in 6 month and I had to redo my deep cleaning and filling that I had done with Dr. Bo just six month before. They told me that the deep cleaning was done not well because I had dark spot of bacteria that could not have been formed in 6 month. The filling was not done well as well so they need to redo that too. My insurance cover just a deep cleaning every 24th month so I need to spend $750 out of my pocket because Dr. Bo and her staff did not do a good job. read more

I've never had such a warm welcome in ANY office EVER. Joan you rocked at making me feel like I was arriving at a Cheers bar (without all the alcohol). The preliminary process was so easy and very fast. Once that was done, I was in a chair within 3 minutes. I recommend taking advantage of the complimentary water bottles. Since I just had a cleaning in May, I decided to take advantage of their super modern whitening service. Before everything, Dr MacDonald came in to meet me and get a understand where I was, dentally speaking. She was super informative and spoke simply, which I really liked. It was clear she liked to get face time with her patients, even if the service didn't require her expertise. I really liked that. This process took 25 minutes and I literally watched "The Help" the whole time. So incredibly effortless. Such a modern, clean, and calming experience. Looks like I found my dentist! I LOVE this place and I normally hate dentists. Their hygienist Dean is just the best. Really. A class place. The bad reviews are from people who won't like dentists no matter what. This place is so great. I'll never go elsewhere. Dr. Bo is actually very friendly and nice. The #1 reason to go there is Dean. He is so damn meticulous about the cleaning, and with his big personality he makes it seem fun to be sitting in that chair. The whole staff is nice. As a tea enthusiast, I've stained my teeth a bit over the years. I tried over the counter whiteners, but they just weren't helping enough. I finally decided to have my teeth professionally whitened after my friend told me she had a great experience here. They use a method called Sinsational Smile. It's not as harsh as the Zoom treatment and your teeth aren't as sensitive afterwards. I called to book an appointment for a Saturday and they were able to schedule me within two weeks. My usual dentist can't book me for a Saturday for MONTHS. I was very happy they were able to accommodate me so quickly! The office is tucked away in a an office building. It's a little bit of a maze to find the right place to park and the right hallway, so allow yourself some extra time for that. There is plenty of metered street parking, if you don't want to park in their structure. On the weekends, the building parking is free, so I took full advantage! Their office is lovely. The lobby has beautiful seating and they provide snacks and water for guests. Rooms and halls are filled with cheerful artwork and TVs. Their friendly assistants were able to get me into my appointment right away. I was expecting a wait because most dentist offices are behind, but they were running a tight ship! I was in and out for my treatment in less than 40 min! They even gave me a touch up whitening pen to use after I drink or eat anything with a lot of dyes in it. Fab! As they said would happen, my teeth continued to whiten over the next 12 hours. I believe they improved by about 2 shades from when I went in. That's about the whitest they can get. I recommend this office if you are looking for a quick, friendly, warm, inviting dental experience! read more

I had my first visit at Dr. Bo Macdonald office this past weekend. I felt so welcomed by every single staff member. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. I was most excited to meet Dean, as I had heard great things about him and everything I heard was true! He is so great and explains everything he is doing so well. I left there feeling knowable and in a great mood. Honestly there wasn't a single staff member that didn't greet me or made me feel welcome and that was the best feeling! My husband and I have been going to Dr. MacDonald for several years. First of all, Joanne is the face of the office. She has been one of the constants over the years and my fear of dentists is somewhat lessened by seeing her first in the office before anyone else. She has all of the customer-service qualities that you hope to find in any place in which you do business. Dean, the hygenist, is always getting trained in the latest technology and he really cares about the condition of your teeth. t I never question his commitment to keeping my gums healthy. Dr. MacDonald is a consummate professional. She takes great pride in her work! Her technique with injecting novacaine is quite impressive. I've been in on at least one occasion in which I wasn't sure which tooth was hurting because the pain was moving. Even after she tapped on several teeth, I still wasn't sure. In addition, the x-rays weren't conclusive. I was fearful that I'd get work done on the wrong tooth but it all worked out. Bo is an artistic and dental genius. I have trusted her with my teeth for 20 years. I am incredibly selective about who I go to regarding my dental health. I met Bo 20 years ago and trusted her abilities and talent from the moment she started working on my teeth. I needed a front implant that matched perfectly my front tooth.....she was the only DDS that was able to achieve that......she didn't want good "enough" as others did......she wanted perfect!!!! And I must say she achieved it. I can't say enough about her fabulous staff, including Dean who is her Dental Assistant, specializing in cleaning and maintaining my incredible smile. Love Dr Bo MacDonald! She and Dr Dean make an excellent team. Dean does the cleaning and Dr MacDonald does the general dentistry. I've been a patient of theirs for a few years now and I won't go to another dentist. Joann their office mgr is wonderful, accommodating and easy to work with. Stephanie is the dental assistant who usually works on me and she is fantastic! The care here is genuine and thorough. They do Peri Charts before each cleaning and always educate me about their methods. They have great touches like a 3D scanner for making crowns and a wand camera to take detailed, hi-res photos of your teeth. This is the best dental experience I've ever had and I highly recommend them! read more

This office commits insurance fraud. Please read the one star reviews and do not trust any of the 5 star reviews that she buys. They provided me with a quote for services in advance of my treatment, and then billed me $500 more than what was quoted. Highly unethical, and I am going to report them to the state insurance authorities and also to the dental board. They billed me for services that were never performed. read more

My visit with Dr. Bo was nothing short of AMAZING! I had an emergency situation, called Dr. Bo's office and was scheduled immediately for a same day visit. The staff was warm, welcoming and very professional. Dr. Bo works with such ease and professionalism, and when I say the woman came in and performed a root canal with ZERO pain association within a matter of minutes..BELIEVE IT SHE'S AMAZING!!!! Stephanie is the trusty assistant who displayed superb bedside manner, something you don't receive much these days and her skills are AWESOME as well! I have been meaning to write this review for a while now... I am not sure if they are still running any of their deals, but if they do, please don't waste your money and potentially damage your teeth by bad whitening practices. They advertise full exam, while their x-ray is only of the front teeth with inconclusive feedback on your overall oral health. Doctor pops in for a minute with no direct communication on result of the "Full exam". Their zoom whitening is unbelievably painful. Waste of money with possible damage to your teeth due to whitening practices that must be illegal, if it is not already. read more

Here we go again. Another bad root canal and crown. She does not go deep enough on the root canals and the crown had a gap so decay got in. This is the second one so far. I strongly recommend staying away from Bo MacDonald. I spent over $10,000 there and feel as tough I flushed the money down the toilet. read more

I know going to the dentist is not something people generally look forward to. However, I went to Dr. MacDonald for the first time yesterday and had a great experience! I'm just finishing up wearing invisalign for the last 2 years so I wanted to get my teeth whitened. I was also interested in getting some bonding done. From the moment I walked into the office, I felt at ease. The set up is really nice and you don't feel like you are in a dental office at all! The waiting room feels more like something you'd see at a spa. The office has a very lovely, serene energy so I didn't feel nervous like I usually do when I have to go to the dentist.The staff is super nice and everyone is very helpful. Dr. MacDonald looked at my teeth and totally lasered in to what I needed in order to get a beautiful smile. She has almost an "artistic" view of what will look the best in terms of doing cosmetic work. She went through each tooth and thoroughly explained what she'd like to do. She didn't try to upsell me with expensive veneers but said I could get the results I wanted with bonding. I agreed with everything she said in terms of the changes she wanted to make! She is extremely knowledgeable and thorough in her examination. I actually am looking forward to going back and getting the cosmetic work done! I also made an appt to get my teeth cleaned with Dean as I hear he is amazing too! I would highly recommend Dr. M and her office. They are definitely top notch! read more

I was a patient of Dr. MacDonald for 5 years. Everything was good in the beginning but then things took a turn for the worse. There was a problem was a root canal and she was not truthful with me about what really happened. I was sent to another Dentist and he was the one who told me what was wrong. I had pay a bill that she created. Just found out this year a root canal was not complete and it had to be done again. Also a couple of teeth should have been capped were not capped. At the end of 2014, I visited Dr. MacDonald, she did x-rays and a cleaning. I found out a few months late there was a huge pocket around my front tooth. This was not a horrible. I don't understand how she missed it in December. It has cost me thousands to get my mouth fixed. If you visit Dr. MacDonald please ask questions and pay attention to everything the Dentist does. It all matters to me -- quality of work, service, friendliness, location, scheduling flexibility, etc. I've been seeing Dr. MacDonald and her staff for years, and yesterday was another pleasant day of cleaning and checkup. She has replaced my old damaged amalgam fillings with nice white fillings, performed bonding in a couple of places, whitened my teeth, performed gum treatment, and all with zero pain. :) I love how Dr. MacDonald and Dean, her hygienist, keep up with the latest technology and instruments. They tell me about it, I go home and research it, and then go back for the treatment, such as the bonding and gum treatment I had a year or so ago. They even give good advice for exactly which toothbrush to use and what's missing from my brushing technique. I actually look forward to going into the office to see them -- a super cool staff -- Joanne is as nice as they come. read more

I have been a patient of Bo MacDonald's since 1992. Originally I went because she came so highly recommended by my friends that worked at the Oakwood apartments. After just ONE visit, I knew I had hit the jackpot in Dentistry. I was very impressed with Bo's knowledge of all the newest developments in the dentistry field. I had also never seen any of the equipment in her office as it was all so high tech & new. Bo knows Dentistry. Make NO Mistake about that. And she knows the newest treatments and painless procedures that have come available in the past several years. Many dentists are simply too lazy or not interested in keeping up with what's new & available to patients. You won't have to EVER worry about that with Bo. Every time I visit the office, there is some new cleaning technology machine or something of the likes. It seems the only thing that remains the same is the Top notch care Bo & her team give the patient. Bo & her team cover everything from a cleaning that is painless and yet thorough (thank you Dean!) to filling a simple cavity with absolutely NO PAIN. I don't know how she does it but I have never ONCE done that dreaded "Squirm" in her chair. Today I had a crown done & not only were Bo's price the same as everybody elses, Joanne is there to help with your insurance or a payment plan. That's the BASIC dentistry. Now, if you want to talk about restoring or even creating a whole new smile, you simply WILL NOT find a more qualified Dentist then Bo. This is where I feel she REALLY is heads & Tails above the rest. I was lucky. I only needed a Bleaching. Afterwards I heard "My GOD your teeth are BRIGHT!" for YEARS afterwards! My good friend Heidi wasn't as lucky & needed to fix some crooked front teeth. Now her teeth look better then mine! I wish I could say I was joking! Do yourself a favor. Dr. Macdonald ruined my teeth and has subsequently caused me thousands and thousands of dollars to repair the damage she did. The first time I sat in her chair, I thought I was going to get a cavity filled. Next thing I know, she had given me 2 root canals, and I didn't not know what happenned until after the fact. I was shocked. As I walked out, her assistant handed me a printout of an estimate of all the work that needed to be done. $11k was the estimate. I had to go back to get a follow up and declined all the future work she wanted to do. I told her I could not afford the work she was planning on doing- she glanced at my designer handbag and said "You can afford it. I know you can." I never went back. The worst part is- she drilled into other teeth that she was not working on (giving me root canals)making holes (I guess to ensure I would come back) I had no idea- my tooth actually cracked later. so unethical. FYI- my friend who unknowingly referred me was getting her invisilign done through her- she had billing issues constantly. Finally, after she threatened to report her to the Better Business Bureau it somehow got worked out. Going to the dentist is scary enough- I do not wish this upon anyone!! read more

be very cautious when going to this dentist.. i have had enough of this place over billing me and charging me for things they aren't suppose to! from over priced x rays to trying to rip me of for $4100 for my gums and teeth.. enough is enough... i went to get 1 tooth fixed and they billed me for 4 ... (they fixed 4 teeth when they were only suppose to do 1, when i didn't have the money to fix 4 teeth!) overall stay the f--- away !!! f------------------------------ I was about to spend thousands of $$ for work on my mouth until i got a call from a guy named frank at there office telling me i owed $56.00 for a office visit when they told me it was a free consultation and billed me after the fact!!
