Not a single complaint. Instead of boasting about how much fun it was, I'm just going to answer a few questions that I had going into it/some insight. -BYOB / SNACKS are by venue only. I went to Local which is a bar/restaurant and so we paid ourselves. -Side Note, Local's food is really good, a lot of beer variety, and it was Wednesday Wine Night (buy a bottle, get a bottle)- -There is not a lot of room to eat because the easels are set up close to each other so I would recommend eating before/after -We got drinks before we started and they had a server going around during so that you didn't have to make people move for you (we also took a break during to get more drinks/walk around to see others work and meet new people) -GROUPON had an amazing deals. It was basically half off. -Just bring yourself (paint/brushes/water/paper towel/smock/easel are set up before you arrive) -I recommend getting there 10 min. early to get settled. There was no designated seats for this one and due to the Polar Vortex, no one obviously wanted to sit away from the heater or near the windows. (especially if you're in a bigger group) -You are painting without an outline - completely free hand. The instructor is there to give inspiration/answer questions/paint with you/have fun. -You can paint whatever you want - the "theme" is just kind of a guide/something to make it more of an event. -Went from 7-9. There was no rush to leave. We left our paintings and had a drink after at the bar to let our paint dry. -It's just fun. No pressure/judgment. -Some people were solo/some in groups/some just pairs. All accepted. We went on 1/29 at Local. S/O the "That Paint Lady" ... she was great. Super funny, encouraged drinking and really owned the room.

Everything was well organized, down to the apron, the paints, and all is setup for you in advance. 2. The host has a PA system, so everyone can hear well. 3. The host was very positive, encouraging everyone to be creative and have fun. 4. The painting was broken down into methodical steps so everyone succeeded. 5. It's a great way to meet new people and to socialize with your friends. 6. It's FUN! There are different instructors and venues. I went to Getaway Cafe and the staff there was very welcoming and the food was good. Our instructor had a degree in Art, and she took the time to explain how to complete the painting in easy steps. Nobody at Paint Nite paid full price, they all got their tickets through Groupon. Not sure how long Groupon will sell the half price tickets, but if you use the code PITTSBURGH you can bypass the Groupon website.

Had a ceramics class with Liana. I had a great time and made cute pieces…read more Update: when I was finally able to pick up my items after two months, none of them were done right. I'm not going to take the time to enumerate everything that is wrong, but I was told that the pictured piece fell off in the kiln. If that were true, there wouldn't be glaze on the surfaces that need to be re-joined. This cannot even be fixed. So in addition to doing careless work with the glaze, they were untruthful about what happened. This was a frankly a terrible experience.

Took a planter class in April. Was told it would be a month. Every time we asked, they had excuses…read moreand said it still wasn't ready. Said we wanted to pickup our pieces whether they were finished or not and would finish the pieces elsewhere. The day we were coming, they called to say it was ready. One piece was glazed only halfway and in the wrong color. The other was over glazed enough so the relief is gone and they dripped another glaze on it and you can see the finger mark where they attempted to wipe it off. When we called about a refund, we were quite frustrated and were told that we needed a discussion with the instructor to figure out if they had done anything wrong. Could not be more disappointed. Will never return. Would recommend trying somewhere else if someone is considering going here.

If you are a crafty-minded person, you need Ringel's Ceramics in your life…read more Helen's shop features ready-to-sell ceramics for every occasion: Halloween, Christmas, Easter, every Pittsburgh sport, dragons, weddings, new babies, you name it. Her windows on Merchant Street are always decorated with beautiful pieces that she and the other gals have made. However, what's even cooler about Ringel's Ceramics are the weekly classes. On Wednesday evenings (7-10) and Saturdays (10-4), you can come in to the shop, buy an unfinished piece to work on (as well as all the brushes & paints you will need), and hang out in the shop, chatting with other crafty people and creating your masterpiece. Prices are so reasonable. You pay for your supplies as you go. You can purchase pieces for as little as $2.70, paints are just over $2 each, and class itself costs a mere $3 each time. Whatever you want to create, Ms Helen will find the mold for you. If you have a mold that you want to make, they can pour it for you, and then you can come to class and paint it! The classes are informal: everyone works on their own piece, at their own pace. There's a lot of chatting and laughing and oohing & ahhing over each other's latest projects. But you learn the different techniques of ceramics painting, and you get help and assistance throughout the whole process (for example, we all make Ms Helen paint the eyes on our characters, because she rules at this very difficult part of painting). There are often technique sheets available for the project you want to work on, and this can help you see how to enhance the painting as well. I came across the shop first on Nationality Days in Ambridge, and brought in a buffalo mold I had bought on eBay for $15. I really liked what the buffalo looked like, so I bought the mold without knowing how I would be able to use it. And even though it was an old mold in kind of a state of disrepair, they were able to pour it, and then Ms Helen helped me learn how to paint it (my first project!), and now I have a gorgeous buffalo statue at home. And once you start... well, you spend every class wandering around looking at the available pieces and wondering what you will paint next. There are so many options, you'll never run out. If you like to do crafts, even if you don't have any experience with ceramics or painting, please come and hang out and learn a little! It's the best way to spend your Wednesday night.
