It caught our attention with how busy it was, so we talked to the staff and put our name on the list (I always go by Juanito in Spain). Waited about 20-30 minutes, then got a table right along the sidewalk next to the entrance. Beer for me, white wine for the wife, and then some tapas to share--gambas a la plancha, pimientos de padrón, calamares fritos, & alcachofas fritas. Everything was delicious, super fresh, and the highlight was for sure the artichokes. Fried perfectly. Service was also great. Food came out fast. Wine flowed. If you're looking for a local tapas place, where they have great quality tapas for relatively cheap, then this is your place! Located right by the Valencia public market and a five minute walk from the cathedral, this place is great. I came here on my own and it was busy, but I found a table. The servers were all very friendly and accommodating. They have a wide selection of tapas, which are truly traditional and so good. They also offer full dinners / plates here too if you don't want tapas. But seriously, the tapas portions are generous and the best part is they are just the right size to order multiple different kinds of tapas to try. I ordered a Tinto de Verano (summer wine) to drink, which is more refreshing than regular sangria. It's a mix of red wine with Casera, which is a less sweet version of Sprite and a sweeter version of Perrier (so somewhere in between). It's GREAT. Definitely recommend. read more

Boatella is a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant! Their calamari and croquetas are drop-dead fabulous, and I couldn't get enough of their bread, olives, and cheese :-) We ate here a couple of times, and you simply can't go wrong with anything on their menu - all the food is exceptional! The service is very relaxed while still being polite and professional; the owner is friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. Had a very good afternoon tapas snack on the sidewalk overlooking the Mercado Central. It is nothing fancy but prices were reasonable and the service was great - waiter loved our broken Spanish and we loved his broken English. The albondigas were meaty and delicious in a light tomato baesed sauce with peas served with fresh slices of bread; grilled peel and eat gambas were ok - a little small and the peeling took off most of the tasty seasoning. The dessert was excellent - a light, perfectly done flan huevo. Decent enough beer and vino tinto Rioja. A small downgrade for some others smoking around us, but that is Spain, and we wanted to sit outside in the beautiful sun! read more

We stopped here based upon the recommendation of our hotel staff and were glad we did. The sangria by the liter was perfect and the food was great too. It's a nice street-side restaurant and people watching was fun too. The staff was friendly and attentive. Somehow I missed the menu page for the tapas so you'll have to stop by to see those yourself. read more

This ist the kind of Restaurant that I always want to find when on vacation. The Kind that offers tasty, fresh foods, reasonable price, friendly Service and easy reachability. We had the menues of the day with grilled squids and Salad, then grilled hake/swordfish with Fries and Fried pimientos, flan for dessert. Service was quick but attentive. For the crowd they have every time we came by, it's quite amazing. We paid 10€ each person including our Drinks. This Place made our best food exerience in Valencia, better than the recommended places we got from Internet and it's smack in the middle of the city, so easily reachable on foot. read more

Great place to get a light snack! They display foods but they re-cook after you order, so no worries. You will get warm dishes. The only drawback is that price is bit high if considering a casual place like there. read more

Everything we ordered was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. This favorite tapas bar is located just across the street from the Central Market (Mercado Central). The food they serve comes from the same market. Anything from Mercado Central will automatically tell you that you will get the best quality and the most delicious and tasty tapas in town.
