I contacted Bob Gail Events by recommendation of The London West Hollywood to assist with my wedding. Although a small event of 30 guests, I deserve to have the same care and attention as any other bride hosting a lovely rooftop event. My reception will be an intimate dinner and dancing affair at The Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I was seeking full event coordination and wedding planning services. After explaining my event to Bob Gail's contact person, it was explained to me that they deal with "larger events primarily and someone will get back with me." They were quite condescending, a bit rude and never even bothered to call me back! I went with a lovely company who was more than happy to coordinate my wedding and reception. I went to Bob Gail when I was working on different aspects for a photo shoot . I ordered some prop pieces three months in advance. I was completely shocked when I called to cancel the order and they wouldn't do it. Shocked because I rent from major props shops all over town. Sure, some deal mostly in movie not events but I also work with LA Party Rentals and Town and Country and they would let me skip the order with no penalty. This place would not let me out. The man told me they run their company differently than other businesses and that as soon as an order is placed cogs are in motion. I doubt that they spent more than 15 minutes writing up my order. Sometimes I am shocked at the way a company runs their business. I will never order from them again just because one of my shoots could actually cancel which happens all the time. You would think they would see the benefit in building a relationship for the long term. On the up side. The delivery crew was fantastic and 100% professional. The product was equally professional. I booked Jump Start through Bob Gail as my band at my wedding. Every phone call and conversation I've had with my guests recapping the evening has included a rave review about our band. Their song choices perfectly fit the energy of the room and all age groups were able to dance and sing along. They were able to cover such a wide variety of song choices and there seemed to be a singer in the band for every type of genre (even country). There is something about the energy a band brings versus a DJ that just really gets a crowd going and eager to dance. Brian was so wonderful to work with. He was patient, engaged and invested in the night. It made a huge difference having him there keeping our timeline on track and changing things as needed based on the mood of the room. Additionally, he acted like a therapist and a band leader, helping me personally navigate through the chaos of the day. The whole process of working with Bob Gail was seamless. If you're a discerning, detail-oriented bride like me, you will love the peace of mind that comes with working with Bob Gail. We used Bob Gail for our wedding reception music, flowers, day-of coordination, and rentals (chiavari chairs, outdoor umbrellas, linen). We loved the convenience of having all those vendor services provided under one roof. And we loved the whole experience -- the entire team is super-friendly and easy to work with, they really listened to all of our requests, and their product is outstanding! Our reception band was a small 3-piece standard jazz ensemble. The musicians were fantastic!! VERY talented, great singers, and they kept the song choices tailored exactly to what we had requested. Our guests also loved the harpist during the cocktail hour. Our band also provided MC-ing duties, and they did a great job of keeping the tone elegant, just as we had requested. Our flowers turned out beautifully! The team really paid attention to what we wanted, and I was so impressed with how well they listened to us, and how well they understood all of my quirky nit-picky requests -- like the fine distinction between 3 *different* shades of light pink roses. And the team was always friendly about fine-tuning little details along the way, if I ever changed my mind about some detail later on. Most of all, our day-of coordinators were phenomenal! Absolutely phenomenal! Carol and Kristy are two of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. They kept the entire day running smoothly, and they managed to do it all with smiles on their faces. They were calm, friendly, efficient, and attentive. (What more could a bride ask for!) We had gone over the day's timeline and details well in advance, so they already had a clear vision of the day's logistics -- i.e. who needs to be where at what time, what items need to be moved from church to hotel, etc. From our prior conversations, I could tell they were just as detail-conscious as I was. So, once the big day arrived, we totally trusted them to make the day go as planned, while my groom and I just relaxed without worrying about a single detail. Even our guests commented on how professional and organized they were about "guiding" everyone through the day. They were very respectful to our family and bridal party, and never came off as "bossy." From our very first "orientation" meeting with Brian (one of the friendliest, professional, and helpful people I've ever met), to the very last minute of our wedding day, everyone at Bob Gail truly made us feel pampered, and that all of our wishes would be catered to. I know there were countless other details they took care of behind the scenes for us, that we're not even aware of. I work in the industry so I'm familiar with rental companies and how quickly it can add up for a few couches and chairs. However, after meeting with Allyson I knew that Bob Gail would be able to give us the design concept we wanted with the budget we wanted. Allyson's eye for design was incredible! From the linens to the furniture her touches really made our wedding spectacular. Plus she was super flexible when things started adding up and she would always send me updated budgets and revised quotes whenever I asked. She would always have a couple different priced options that I could choose from and was never pushy on the upsale, if I said I couldn't afford something then she would try and find a way to create the same look for less. And her team was wonderful with the set up and tear down. All in all Bob Gail really made our wedding what it was, and what is was was impressive from all the compliments we received at the reception. Allyson Levine Joseph was our main wedding planner for our wedding. Allyson is one of the best in the business. Her parents (Bob & Gail) started the company, which also has a fantastic music component of the business. We actually used one of their bands, Higher Ground, as our band wedding and they were fantastic. Allyson has strong relationships with the best wedding vendors in the area. Most importantly, she was able to get a sense for our vision and translate them into the best options in terms of style and colors as well as which vendors would be a good match. Allyson goes above and beyond and she was always a phone call or email away. Before we hired her, I had an initial call with her and she followed up with me to offer advice as we were looking for and evaluating wedding venues. That willingness to provide her advice made her stand out to us vs. other wedding planners. Allyson and her team are Type A (like us) and we knew we could count on them to get things done in a timely manner. They kept us on our toes and engaged with us to make every decision along the way to ensure we were hitting our fast-moving timeline. With our full-time jobs it would have been impossible for us to plan our wedding ourselves along with our demanding schedules so it was a godsend to rely on Allyson and her team to take care of everything that we didn't have to worry about. They did everything from meeting with vendors to stuffing and sending out our invitations to purchasing and putting together items for our welcome bags. The Bob Gail team on the day of the wedding was extremely impressive. 2015 was the 40th anniversary of my company and we decided to throw a gala for 500 peeps. So being that this was going to be much larger than our normal yearly holiday parties we hired Bob Gail Events to help us out. I had the pleasure of working with Allyson Levine & Katie Pincus. After brainstorming with the girls, myself, The Big Kahuna & another top dog with came up with a very cool, elegant vibe along with a retro travel experience to 1975 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event looked gorgeous and they were all very professional throughout the entire 10 month planning experience. My personal biggest concerns were having the event not look like your typical hotel ballroom which included hiding the massive ornate chandelier in their main ballroom, enough purple throughout (our company color) and a hip dance floor area amongst other things not needed to be mentioned here. We used the band Jump Start through Bob Gail Entertainment for our wedding in August 2015 and had a fantastic experience. Brian Pincus was our point person from the beginning of the process and our band leader. From beginning to end, he was extremely helpful, responsive, and always seemed to be on the same page as we were regarding the flow and feel we wanted. We looked at a couple of other bands and chose Jump Start for a few reasons: -We had seen Jump Start at our friends' wedding ~3-4 years prior and remembered how great they were, even though it had been several years -Huge song list - much more extensive than some of the other bands we looked at -Brian immediately came off as trustworthy, accommodating, and easy to work with In addition to the wedding reception, we also used 3 band members for our ceremony music, and Brian also worked with us on very short notice to arrange for one of the band members to play at our cocktail hour. The reception was amazing. All of the band members are fantastic entertainers, professionals, and it is clear they can read a crowd. We met ~4-6 weeks before the wedding and talked about the flow we wanted (dancing in between courses, etc) which was very important to us. Brian suggested all of the same things we were thinking and after that meeting, we felt completely at ease. We had ~220 guests, and everyone was on the dance floor the entire time - both our friends (20s and 30s) and our parents' friends (50s and 60s). We requested to minimize the number of slower songs so it was all very upbeat and high energy. My husband was supposed to speak later in the night, but we were loving the band so much that we ended up skipping his speech so we didn't have to stop the music! We had the best time, no complaints, and could not recommend Jump Start more. read more

I would caution anyone who is interested in working with Bob Gail Special Events to read through my experience. I am planning a wedding and was referred to Bob Gail. I first met them in February 2011 and was introduced to a "coordinator" who explained all sorts of wonderful work that Bob Gail can perform. Then being a budget concerned consumer I naturally asked for a proposal or an invoice to see what exactly Bob Gail fee's would look like. They told me verbally that on the high end our event should cost $15k. At this point the "coordinator" told me that I must sign a contract and give them a $1500 retainer fee prior to getting an invoice. I was very concerned but thought that they are a professional business and have many good reviews to boost about and speak too, why not- I gave them a check (big mistake). I still have not got an invoice from Bob Gail now it has been almost (2) months since I signed a contract and only yesterday received a "proposal" for more than DOUBLE the verbally quoted price ($35k). I was shocked to say the least and questioned the "coordinator". He explained that the proposal was based on RETAIL pricing and that we would get a discount for the total bill.? I was very confused and said, why all the run around- why can't you tell me how much your services cost? OR what percentage is the discount that I can expect? He had no answers for me. Now frustrated I decided to call Bob Levine, owner of Bob Gail Special Events and married to Gail Levine thus the company name Bob Gail Special Events. Bob told me that they don't share pricing information prior to signing a contract. He rudely argued that they spend many hours planning and designing events and if they had to give people pricing then they could not afford to stay in business. (I wish I could cut-n-paste the only design that Bob Gail Special Events shared with me....a scribbled pencil drawing of a bunch of circles cascading out of a triangular tall column that anyone in the world can draw a rendition of in less than five minutes!) Bob went on to say that he has no idea what my personal event particulars are but he is sure that his sales team can justify time spent planning my event. At this point I have had enough of the Bob Gail games and scams. I asked Bob for a refund and told him that I do not agree with the "bait-n-switch" method of his sales staff, having quoted me one price in person then stalling two months while I have been harassing all the while for a silly invoice just to determine budget for things like "lighting". He said; "Your money has been spent- no way your going to get ONE dollar back!". I could go on and tell you how Bob Levin began to rage and yell at me but I feel that my story should be enough to convince anyone that this company is not owned by PROfessional persons who care about your "Big Day". Only PROfessional scam artists that are not honest about MONEY, BE CAREFUL. read more

He apologized for the negative experience that I had (not all of it was negative, just the aspects I wrote about in my previous post). He brainstormed on how he could help the situation. Ultimately he suggested sending bouquets or baskets to the sponsors and our mothers in order to help rectify the problem. I was referred to Bob Gail through an acquaintance who was raving about the band she had hired for her wedding! I am a HUGE music enthusiast and was extremely picky in selecting the music and band for such an important event. In addition to that, I have a huge family and a large group of friends, all of whom know how to have a good time and expected a good party from my wedding! It was important to me that the band I had was a fun party band that wasn't annoying and that could read a crowd. It was also important to me that they could play a variety of music, from good classics to Latin to current popular songs. Needless to say, the band was FANTASTIC! I got exactly what I wanted - and more! The members of the band were extremely talented, professional and most importantly, perfect audience readers...they got everything right! I was extremely happy working with Bob Gail Special Events for my husband's 60th birthday party. They were not only great with giving me fabulous ideas about how to create a a classy but cozy (and fun) outdoor cigar lounge-atmosphere in the middle of January, but they worked with me to make certain it was beautiful and within budget. I couldn't even imaging using anyone else other than Bob Gail Special Events. I was recently married and it is truly because of them that our wedding was so amazing!!! The Band we used from them did an INCREDIBLE job and truly set the tone for the whole night. They are the best band at a wedding I have ever seen. Everyone was on the floor dancing the whole time. Bob Gail also did our florals, and linens and did the coordinating. Everything went so smooth and our event room looked so elegant. They made all of our planning so easy and so much fun.
