    the interior of a restaurant

Friendly and helpful staff. Lots and lots of options on the menu. I especially appreciated the lactose free milk availability. I forgot to ask for less sweet, but even still I was surprised that it wasn't grossly over-sweet. I got the dirty hokkaido and subbed for regular boba instead of coffee jelly as I'm not a huuuge coffee fan. The flavor was great and I enjoyed the balance of coffee to tea. The shop was nice and I liked that they had board games to make for a fun hangout spot. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

[Review #740] 2023-026 Drinks Order: BROWN SUGAR BOBA MILK with BROWN SUGAR HONEY BOBA, LYCHEE BUTTERFLY LEMONADE with CRYSTAL BOBA, WATERMELON LYCHEE FRUIT TEA with RAINBOW JELLY I came up over Independence Day weekend to visit my aunt. Instead of our usual dim sum restaurant, we went to her back-up Vietnamese restaurant for some noodles & bánh mì. It was hot, hot, hot, so of course, we had to cool off with some boba, & Boba Garden just happens to be across the street. I bypassed the restaurant's boba drinks due to taste & execution issues. BG is located in The Shaw Marketplace, south of Chase Bank between Quest Diagnostics & Cosmo Prof, off Shaw Ave.; still in its soft opening, the shop doesn't have permanent signage yet. Inside, the dining area is bright & spacious with a table full of games to entice patrons to relax & hang out, hopefully buy more drinks. There's a nice wall mural & bench for pics to help market their brand; I think they should update it with some flowers or succulents to showcase a garden theme to tie-in with their name. To further enhance the sit & drink experience, free WiFi is available (current PW: #bobagardenfresno). From a marketing standpoint, the location isn't likely to draw a lot of traffic & it's not anchored with restaurants that may have customers stopping by for a dessert drink. Instead of my usual order of multiple drinks, I thought I try one before I buy more & ordered from the creative series: brown sugar boba milk with brown sugar honey boba (think tiger milk tea). I didn't change the sugar or ice level... the drink was well-made with sufficient serving of boba, cooked to al dente with QQ chew; however, boba flavor is slightly muted, barely tasting the brown sugar & honey. With 100°+ weather, this milk tea was refreshing & perfect counter to central CA's summer heat wave. Menu is standard: creative series (which includes toppings), smoothies, matcha series, slushies, coffee series, fruit teas, milk teas, macaron ice cream, croffles (croissant + waffle), snow ice; toppings are 75¢. The base price points are higher than South Bay, which I can still get a drink between $5 - $6 with or without toppings, pending on the boba shop. Creative & matcha series comes with toppings, assuming the topping complements the drink, not sure if substitution is allowed or if there's a surcharge for substitute if allowed. Closer than our preferred boba shops, Boba Garden cultivates a decent menu with slightly higher pricing, though seemingly competitive in the area, that will grow on you. Recommended: Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Brown Sugar Honey Boba.

    Really cute backdrop

This Boba spot is deliciously good, the tapioca is one of the best I've had so far, it's soft and smooth. My daughter loves boba, we've tried most of the best spots in Fresno/clovis. Hands down, best are the AC Deli bobas, "the banana one " and rare tea is really good, also Boba pub (but this one i might just be bias since it's by State , Go Dogs) It was our first time at this location (since I have a nine year old and the shop two doors down its a smoke shop , but overall area wasn't to bad) . It's super cute inside, they have a cute white bench to take pictures In front of their big backdrop. The service was good too, she was nice, would definitely come back , despite the area.

Mini Mochi!!! my fave is the creme brûlée

Happy to have a new spot for yummy drinks and snacks So excited I found mini mochies.. tried these last when I was out of town and can't find them anywhere. Crowaffles!! what?! so flaky, light and a hint of buttery sweetness. I opted to go with a side of condensed milk.. WOW This place has a chill vibe, very clean and cozy. A little game corner to pick board games from to hang out with. Will definitely come again.

One of the newest Boba business that popped up in Fresno. I ordered during happy hour, so it's buy two get one free. I got the Hokkaido milk tea, matcha milk tea, and wintermelon milk tea. The Hokkaido was great, very strong tea flavor and was aromatic. The wintermelon milk tea didn't taste quite like wintermelon but more like a house milk tea. Not too crazy over the matcha milk tea because it lacked matcha flavor, it was too milky. All drinks can be modified with level of sweetness. The establishment is very neat and clean. I like how simple the decro is. Very spacious and have plenty of seatings. The owner was very friendly and nice. She was the only one working at the time and my milk tea came out at a timely manner. Definitely room for improvement, I'm indifferent about the drinks. Will review again when I go back :)

Strawberry matcha, melon, and peach tea
    Emily T.

My fiance and I came here through some good yelp advertising! We're kind of creatures of habit but decided to try somewhere new for a change. They had a promotion going on for the month of December-- buy 2 get 1 free. We didn't need 3, but why not? We ordered a strawberry matcha, melon, and peach green tea. While the boba was very good & well cooked boba, the flavors were hit or miss. Strawberry matcha (3/5) was too sweet as its not fresh fruit rather a puree/syrup. I ended up leaving it overnight for the ice to melt, and it was much better the following day. The melon (0/5) is a light green melon reminiscent of melona ice cream bars or hi-chew. This was a step above the sweetness of the strawberry matcha, and tasted very artificial. Unfortunately, we didn't finish this one and threw it out. The peach green tea (4/5) was the right amount of sugar with moderate peach flavor. I would probably give Boba Garden a 2.5/5 based on the drinks we ended up with, but the staff was incredibly helpful with explaining the flavors to us and the store was very clean and well-designed. However, I prefer more fresh fruit forward beverages. The price point is about $6-7 per drink with one topping (e.g., boba) added.

    Hokkaido milk tea, 0% sweetness
    Ines B.

The ambiance in this shop is very cute and there's board games available if you wanted to come by with friends. I ordered the Hokkaido milk tea with 0% sweetness and it was super good! It did still taste a bit sweet but as someone who doesn't like overly sweet drinks, I enjoyed it! I saw they make it from a powder which probably has some sweetener included. The tea reminded me slightly of the taste of black tea with oat milk, which I enjoyed but others might not. Service was quick!

This place is fairly new I think. I haven't seen it here before but it's a perfect spot! It's right by the ramen vs pho and the GameStop. You can make a day of it! We went to GameStop and I had a hankering for something sweet. We stopped in here and saw a few sweet treats. I landed on the croffle with strawberry cream cheese. I thought there was gona be strawberries on top. There was not. But that's okay because it was totally delicious and different. It's a regular croissant but put into a waffle iron. It comes out super crispy and hot with powdered sugar and the cream cheese. It was legit. They have plenty of seating and fun games to play while you sip and munch.

Great service and from what my auntie said their drinks are delicious. I'm about to try the Croffels When I bit into the Croffle I realized why they're named that way. They are croissants crisped with powdered sugar! They are delicious!

New fruit tea lemonade series! This is the strawberry lemonade with butterfly tea. Perfect to refresh yourself in this hot Fresno heat.

The staff here is very friendly and helpful with the recommendations. I ended up with the chamoy peach watermelon slush n it was very refreshingly scrumptious.

    Boba Thai Tea

I love boba so I was very disappointed to taste this. I tossed it out after one sip. The milk tastes bad/stale. It doesn't come with boba pearls, which makes me wonder why they call it boba? I should have walker out when I saw that no one was in the store but I ordered this $6.25 boba, which was a disappointment.

It has got to the point of us waiting for the next month's flavors. This review is long overdue, but Nummy Yummy deserves high praise and recognition for is deliverance to excellent and tasty dessert for the Fresno community. We went here again just a few days ago and it still hits the spot. The menu typically rotates ice cream flavor every month. Not only ice cream, but they also have warm taiyaki! This place reminds me of SomiSomi chain, but to be honest, I think Nummy Yummy is better. All of the staff here are super nice, patient, and always willing to answer your questions. I've come here a lot and have yet to come across a grumpy staff member (haha). The location is in the corner of the RN Market plaza. There is plenty of parking, but I wish they hadn't taken away the indoor seating. There is nowhere to dine in and sit other than the dirty bench outside. I see the majority of people just eating in their car. I hope they decide to offer more flavors and toppings. The various Asian flavors are a hit, and a suggestion box from the public could be an idea. Also, not sure if the eye is playing tricks, but seems like their new cups provide a smaller portion than the old cups. Hopefully that is not the case.

So I looked for a local dessert place (by picture from other Yelpers) and I was in the mood for ice cream or fro-yo. I didn't realize that this place is very similar to the Somi Somi franchise; but still gave it a shot. Inside is very small and plain = NO SITTING so it is literally take-out. Ordering is simple and the cashier was friendly. I wished the fro-yo portions matched what customers received in the past, and there was no option to order small, medium or large. The flavors: pistachio not overly sweet was perfect for my wife. I ordered the half chocolate half brown sugar and only could taste chocolate so I was disappointed . Also their "fish" cone had a salty aftertaste. Overall, it's not an experience I would even give a 2nd try.

We were in town the morning after seeing the Firefail. Finally success on the third visit attempt. Amongst other shops on the desolate street stood an unremarkable window front where the repeat button has remained on since the 60s. Within was an eclectic mix of Japanese American household fixtures and Americana. Rustic. Nothing like Benkyodo's proper shelf presentation - or a hamburga stand. Some Japanese goods were on offer, but you come here for something sweet. We got a couple of mochi and manju, traditional red bean flavors, because that's all that was left. Their manju, seeming to have a different "batter" and "panini"-grilled, had a crumbly texture. The mochi though... Have you seen that viral video of that slapping mochi shop in Nara? What about people enjoying it? How soft it was, leaving a vegan cheese pull with every bite? This was by far the softest mochi I've ever had, and I thoroughly enjoyed the soy dusted yomogi. The bigger size of the mochi also accentuated the softness of the mochi. The matcha, also green, had a distincting different flavor, just so you know that the shop wasn't cheating. My partner in crime loved the lima bean mochi. The red bean filling tasted homemade, good flavor but not too sweet - the best compliment you can give an Asian in a world that remains overrun by pollo ala naranja. We are proud* that such a heritage perseveres on, especially in a part of town that's honestly become quite desecrated of life. Call ahead to see if the shop is open, and try to come early. The shop is a one woman show, and if my first two visits say anything, this lady enjoys having a life. And yes, she does sell out. She was nearly sold out when we visited. And try to enjoy the mochi ASAP. The mochi will last in the fridge. The texture will not. If you come at the right time of the year, the shop will have mochi in different fruit and pie flavors, and even ice cream mochi. *OK, "I'm proud of you" might be a bigger compliment to an Asian.
