I expected Bobby's sandwich bar to be expensive because it's right next to a busy tourist area but it really isn't, in fact prices are amazing, service is quick, food is tasty. There is art work on display that is for sale too which is a fab. There isn't much seating though that's the only thing, a couple of tables outside and a narrow breakfast bar inside and what looks to be like a church pew along the wall but worth a pop in for a snack. It says on yelp that it isn't open on Sunday but it is, so get yourself down there!

Bobby's Sandwich Bar is in a great location for grabbing a quick and tasty lunch on your way back from the Royal Mile or the nearby Greyfriars Bobby's Bar. I've been here a few times and it always offers pleasant, quick service and a comfortable environment to enjoy your lunch in. The food is also excellent. They have a great range of sandwiches from prawn mayonnaise to mature cheddar and onion. I usually go for the tuna mayo with cucumber and bag of crisps. It costs less than £3 and tastes amazing with delcious bread and really fresh salad. Further, they're never stingy with their portion sizes and you really feel like you're getting value for your money. Haven't tried the soup myself, but my friends rave about it, especially the tomato and pepper. If you're in the area and fancy a delicious, cheap lunch then Bobby's Sandwich Bar is the place.

Still tops the lunch list when working in Edinburgh. I never tire of their lentil soup for lunch. #yelpreboot

Staff seem a tad harried at times, but they are kind and polite, and take the time to explain the menu if you want them to. FYI, there's a sign saying there's no laptops allowed. The menu switches at 12pm, but the Full Scottish Breakfast is on both. I tried it and it was fabulous. The "Luxury Hot Chocolate" was honestly kind of meh from a taste perspective. Felt like American powdered, sugary hot chocolate (as contrasted with European dark, hot chocolate). But the presentation was to die for. See photo. They seem known for their cake. I tried that on one visit, blueberry and lemon, and it was great. Moist, flavorful, and decadent. And not a massive portion, which I appreciate. Bathrooms: Basement level. Decently clean and functional. Medium spaciousness.

Not my favorite and I know it's tough to compare with avocado toast in California Maybe next time I'd try their blueberry pancakes? Or maybe try Scran which is next door?

I came pretty close to the opening and was able to select my choice for seats. I picked a table near the window for natural lighting. They have a table of a lot of tasty treats and while I didn't get a chance to try them all, I can attest to the scone being very tasty! I ordered the Cream Tea (I think I ordered the Lemon and Elderflower) which comes with a freshly baked homemade scone (I chose a fruit one), and a cup of tea €6.80. I decided to upgrade to a pot of tea (€7.75) and added a bowl of porridge (€5.50) with jam as I usually prefer savory breakfasts. This was more than enough to eat for one, but I just enjoy trying different items - does anyone else have this problem? lol I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here as the ambiance, food and tea were homey and intimate. This would be such a fun place to converse with girlfriends for tea time!

We had breakfast here on our first day in Edinburgh. It's cozy and the walls are covered with paintings, antique cups, and plates. To be honest the walls are quite chaotic but that's where the personality comes in. We ordered the eggs with toast and the full Scottish breakfast. Food was great, coffee hit the spot, and service was excellent. Even with the chaos they keep the place clean. Also, BEWARE they do not have hot sauce here LOL. I asked the server and she said "No, but it was worth a try to ask" Respect lol. We sat by the window and people watched and awed at the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh. It's a chill spot to rest and refuel. Would love to come back for their afternoon tea!
