They were so kind (and I'm guessing it was the manager) that they agreed to take me in on such a busy day. Parking was going to be waaaay better than dt. Charmaine was lovely. She spent about an hour and agreed to add some curl to my wavy hair that usually looks frizzy when I do it. Nakry was equally as great, and I felt really lucky to have had both of them style it. Today, my hair is still bouncing with curl and is neither sticky nor stiff. As with all "finds" I was reluctant to write this, except that they were so incredibly wonderful. My stylist was a former Suki's member, which happened to be my former salon. Next time I need my hair cut/coloured, I'm going to give this place a chance. It's classy and the stylists are all nice and cordial. They really made my day! Total cost $48 dollars with over a 20% tip and included a $20 conditioning treatment and scalp massage. So if any man happens to be reading this...now you know why we women expect you to pay for us on a date if we get "dolled" up. It has nothing to do with chivalry or women's lib; little do you know that we've already spent at least $300 before the night has begun.

So we were both willing to give this place another try. I'm glad I did because I realize that it is ery difficult to rate an entire salon based on the experience of one of their stylists. This time I was reccommended Karen. And let me tell you she did EXACTLY what I wanted.** What I loved about Karen is that I told her exactly my issues and she listened and did what she could to accept it. (unlike other places where they either refute that they are issues and/or decide to not listen) For any other east asian haired ladies, this is usually what I tell my hairdresser (YES, I'm SO low maintenance that I'm actually high maintenance when it comes to a salon- but if i'm paying good money and you are trained well I expect you to listen and do what I say***): -I cut my hair once a year and it NEEDS to grow out well. -I DON'T OWN a comb, conditioner, hair products. I'm strictly a shampoo everyday, airdry and leave the house kinda girl. Styling involves me running my fingers through my hair and sayin, "that's about right.." -If you use a stright iron on my STRAIGHT ASIAN HAIR I will hurt you. -I don't do razors. Just say no if you're even thinking it. C'mon, just use scissors. -I want to avoid altogether the "frizzy triangle" (you know what I'm talkin about) -And I need them to thin out my hair and get as much volume at the crown of my head as possible because I have thick hair, and a lot of it, that easily falls flat at the end of the day (which also coincides with the "frizz triangle") Karen listened and gave me a pretty sweet cut. she double checked with me to see if using conditioner and product was ok with me and she did a really quality job ensuring it looked like how I wanted it. I ended up with some sort of rocker chick, ultra layered, BIG do. Think borderline elvira/ shape of a Q-tip. Haha, I know that isn't the nicest description but it is basically the exact shape I wanted because I will tell you- there IS no such thing as flat or frizzy-triangle with THIS cut. which is EXACTLY what I wanted. My sister got a really clean cut bob- which is also what she wanted. I forget the name of her stylist but she was super cute. Oh, and the shampoo boy (josh?) does a pretty good head massage even though I avoid touching at all costs. (he styles too at cost b/c he's training I think) highly reccommend Karen as a stylist. And, ps: new customers get 25% off NOW pps: they gave my sister 25% off even though she wasn't a new client. In detail: I had my hair colored and extensions done by stylist Ashley. I have came with a picture that I liked from her portfolio and asked her to do this blonde color. I was specific about going blonde. She asked me to come separately to pick extensions, which was something I have not done before, when I show the color to the stylist, stylist who knows their job picks the extensions and knows what color they will use on the client, whereas here I was given samples of extensions and told to pick, I was very doubtful and kept saying whatever you think is best to give that end result I showed and she kept changing advising which ones and settled on few strands which she asked me to confirm if it was okay, I asked her if she thought it was okay for color I wanted then I'm okay and we confirmed visit for Saturday. During the week days before my appointment I got the message saying my extensions won't be coming in time it will come next week so we can reschedule and when I made the appt I was very clear Saturday was the only day I could do it as I had to go on the trip next week to which was agreed on before I even initiated services. She went back to see what she could do and resolved it - later during appt she told me I think my boss forgot to order them. I guess makes sense why I later received no resolution. I came in on Saturday she did not even show me what extensions that came in looked like. That was first thing I found weird. Second thing that was weird was I had natural dark brown hair. The way she put in highlights was just bunch of highlights foils but the remaining hair remained dark brown. When I went blonde in the past all stylist put 2 shades light and darker to add dimension, I had already bad feeling it may come out streaky and contrasting because how dark my natural hair is and she's not doing anything to lighten rest of it. Since this salon had all 5 star reviews and her portfolio looked great and I never had bad experience with stylist before I decided to trust because ultimately she's the stylist and knows what she's doing. The hair did come out contrasting and streaky and gave that skunk appearance which I mentioned right away, she huffed and said she will tone it, she did not explain what she was doing but said she will even out the top. When she finished I realized she made it even darker... and I mentioned to her right away that's not what I wanted, she said the extensions will lighten everything up, assured me it will be blonde as I wanted once extensions are in. Obviously did not happen. She continued saying how good it looked I left salon very sad and unsure. Next morning after my friends saw it and I saw I hated the result I wrote to her. She said extensions can't be dyed but she can try to fix the top, it didn't sound promising at all. Basically she fixed already once by making it darker I don't know what else to expect. So I declined and moved on. Now next week within about 5-6 days the extensions started falling out. Randomly, I would brush my hair with brush that I specifically have to care for extensions after reading reviews when I had them previously so I know it's not the brush, also none of my hair come out with extensions. Just extensions on its own slipping down. It was coming 1-2 every couple days, at first I though I have thick hair as I had 3 packs in, it's fine I'll lose couple no big deal, but it has not stopped coming out. I went on an overseas trip my friends literally pointed out at the trip with me which was beyond embarrassing. Almost 8 weeks and almost all of it has fallen out, 5 strands in the past week. I reached out to salon showing pictures of strands and the how thin my hair is and the only thing they offered was come back and "audit" how it was done. I am not a trial bunny. I do not trust anyone from your salon. From boss who "forgets" to order extensions and disputes costumer concerns to your staff that is not trained correctly to install extensions. I've been having extensions for the last 10 years, I've had ktips multiple times last time I had them done in September just as of last year and never ever they fell out in chunks like here. They stayed on and had to use solution to break the bond as it should be taken down. Just a warm, welcoming feeling. Lenny escorted me through the salon, showing me where the long, black smocks were and the where to put one on, introducing me to the other stylists and employees there, and to other clients, too. It felt like everyone had known each other for EVER - including the other clients there. Like this was a real family. Everyone seemed to know everyone else, and they welcomed me into the fold. (I should note that the salon isn't cavernous, so it wasn't overwhelming). I next had my hair shampooed by a lovely woman (I think her name was Susan but I could be wrong here), and then moved on to the actual haircut: I gave Leonard free reign to cut and style my hair however he felt would be best suited for me. And he gave me a capital-G GREAT haircut! So perfect for the shape of my face my super-fine hair. I now have a blunt bob at the perfect length, a bit below chin-level, and it looks chic and "done", and for the first time in a long, long time, I feel "put together" and..... good. Funny, how a good haircut can really make such a huge difference in how one feels about oneself. The whole experience here was so comfortable and friendly, and I'm so happy with the end result. Nowhere near to the reference photo style. I declined a $90 gloss and feel the colour service relied on that to correct poor formulation. Permanent dye is also being repeatedly pulled through hair that's already been coloured giving it a dry, patchy look. On another visit, I asked for soft fringe bangs using a clear reference photo, but they were cut wet and left choppy and uneven! This is like basic hair technique 101!
