Michelle is a wonderful artist and created the exact shag/wolf cut that I requested. She took time to show me how to style and look after my new tresses, using the curling iron and sea spray. She made sure I was liking things as she cut, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere is funky and colourful. The front of house person is kind and schedules your next appointment when you're finished. Will definitely be back :) read more

East Vanity Parlour is like a very sexy sitcom with its ever constant cast of characters and glamourous special guests, that always guarantees excellent opportunities to eavesdrop and a rotating door of fabulous do's to admire. The "Cheers" of the burlesque world, where everyone knows your name, and stage name, and abbreviation of stage name that has gained a serious and loyal following of us muggles as well. If I could show my love for this little nook through interpretive dance it would include a lot of floaty, graceful gestures with a few aggressive pelvic thrusts for good measure. I have a big heart on for this magical little den of sass. If it WAS a sitcom, the owner Kristi would definitely be the main character. This larger then life bundle of positive energy always has something creative and amazing on the go and she bursts through the place every so often carrying beauty supplies, boas and occasionally oversized props and macabre art work. The beauty, brains and brawn behind East Vanity Parlour is a magician with a comb - if you're very very lucky, you will land her for an updo and be forever spoiled. Whether it be a twist on a classic vintage style or something completely over the top, a Kristi up-do is a must on my big night out mission list. The cast of supporting characters are as colorful as their fearless leader. I now sport a very particular little bob and have had a total of five different lovely ladies clip and cut it over the last year - each one as great as the last - even with my beast of bangs! It's one of those places where the conversation flows naturally and you'll find yourself chatting with your neighbours about everything from mundane grocery shopping to fetish nights and the eccentric artwork strewn around the room. In the depths of my workaholic days I used to book a trim just to kick my heels up and have an interesting conversation for an hour or two. When it comes to anything vintage inspired - don't even bother going elsewhere. These ladies are the masters! Ever wondered how to do authentic finger waves? Because they can show you... *swoon*. Bonus points to free bang trims and the fun array of cute hair flowers & LIT cosmetics available for sale on-site. The secret is obviously out because this place is ALWAYS bonkers so plan to book a week or two in advance and be prepared to become fiercely loyal to your new salon because EVP fans are lifers. For this girl, if you're not EVP, you're not touching my hair - period. read more

My hair has gone through many happy accidents, one of which was my DIY hair colour (I meant for it to be blue but it is now a fantastic peacock green) and another was Katy. Hi Katy! I was meant to have an appointment with another stylist but the stars aligned and she gave my hair some much needed love. I'm so happy with my hair now, EVP always helps me look my best! Bang trims are by gratuity so put down those scissors and come on down (take it from me...) Also they do awesome gents' cuts too! Great hair for everyone, yes? :3 read more

Took about 23 years to finally find a hair stylist who wouldn't hack away blindly at my hair. The stylists here are incredibly knowledgeable about which styles will suit your face shape, hair type, and styling preferences. After 5 minutes of talking with Sophie about how I normally like a lot of texture and layers to my long hair, and often like to sweep it all to one side, she knew exactly what to do. I got a wash, cut, and style all for $44! I think this price is incredibly reasonable. I also made a mental note to come back to purchase the sea salt spray they used on my hair. Spraying and scrunching it into my very straight and slippery Asian hair resulted in much more texture and you can see ALLL the layers after using it! It also smells like coconut ! Very happy about that. The cherry on top of the cake: bang trims are FREE! I was in the area today, walked in and got my bangs trimmed without having to wait at all! Now, my sisters and I have all gotten our hair cut and styled here on multiple occasions and I recommend this place to all my friends as well! read more

I was in search of a magician that can transform my sad long hair to happy short hair. As usual, I turned to Yelp for guidance to light my way. Lo and behold, I found East Vanity with my price range and good reviews. I took up my courage and reached out...via email. Emails will let me know if these magicians are good with their scissors, as well as customer service AND savvy-ness in technology. Knock out 3 birds with 1 stone, right? My email was responded within 1 business day and *BAM* my appointment is set with Bailey. I was on time for my appointment and Bailey was there to greet me. I showed her a picture of what I have in mind and Bailey can envision the hairdo on me. She was quite excited to cut my massive thick hair to thin short bob. Prior to cutting my hair, Bailey informed me the stages that she will be performing, which I appreciate since then I know what to expect. As the magician worked, we chatted how she enjoyed performing haircut transformations. My hair is thick, long and most stylist can't cut my hair to make it work. I have to say Bailey was one of the best magician I had that can cut my hair to a short hairdo. Not only was it done nicely, but Bailey ensure that the haircut has minimal afterwash care (*swoon* I love low maintenance) Overall, I will likely come back again to have the ladies work on their magic on me again so that I get compliments everyday with minimal effort. read more

Yet another stellar review for East Vanity Parlour. First of all, how cute is the name?! I'd walk in solely based on the look and feel of their shop, but this place has style! There is a magazine rack near the front of the shop, but I was entertained just looking at the different art and furniture. It's old school, punk and whimsical all combined. I love this place! My first visit was with Michelle and I hope to see her for all my future visits. She is an amazing stylist who provided me with so many tips and tricks for my hair. She took time to get all the little layers in and my hair turned out fantastic. Did I mention I love this place already? In case you want to take a look, their website is easy to navigate and there's a bio of each stylist. There's a blurb about each stylist and the hours they work. read more

Finally I found a place to get a haircut where they listen to how I want my hair to be done !! Not able to get to my former hair dresser , it's just too far. This salon is in the heart of the East Village. Bailey listened to me and totally agreed. I've had a stroke a year ago and I've not been happy with my hair since. Bailey made me feel great and my hair looks and feels good. The salon is a happy and welcoming place the staff are very friendly and it rubs off. Totally going back and recommend it. read more

Have been going on/off for years now, even back when they were on Main. I like that they have a stylist for everyone. I personally go for a 50/60s pinup look, and find it so hard to get find people who get that style, but this team all are ACE! My favourite is Shimona, she oozes the pinup vibe and style! My only issue is they no longer take appointments for your free bang trim between cuts, you have to try and pop by day off, which those who try to maintain a fringe, makes it hard if you don't live near the location. read more

Oh, EVP, how I really wanted to have the experience (and cut) that Elsa C. just had! I, too, wanted my mangy mane to be cleaned up, and I also decided to contact EVP to book a cut with Bailey. I called the week before my appointment, set the time and day, and made childcare arrangements to be able to get to the appointment. The day before the appointment, I got a courtesy call - how nice! Yes, I'll be there. Thanks! Day of appointment - yay! The children were taken care off, I got on the bus, headed over towards EVP, so excited for my cut. I had some time to kill, so I stopped and had a coffee. 40 minutes before my appointment, Bailey calls. Oh, hello! She apologized profusely and sincerely, then explained that her current colouring appointment was taking way longer than she had expected, and would it be okay to reschedule? Um...no? I'm at that stage in life where going out to get a haircut doesn't happen that easily - kids, work, blah blah blah. We discussed options, and I asked if I can have a later appointment, and she told me that she had someone booked in after my time. So...that meant I was the one tho gets shifted/shafted, not the later appointment! Clearly wasn't feeling the love. Since I was heading out of town later in the week, our options were limited; I suggested the next day, and she said it was her day off, but she could come if I really wanted. Sigh. She then said, "well, just come today anyways. I'll make it work". Well, no thanks. I don't want a stylist working on my hair when you really don't want to...I expressed how disappointed I was, and how rarely I cut my hair... I just wanted to end the conversation at that point, so I rebooked for after my vacation. The next day I called EVP to cancel, as I just couldn't get over the poor planning and lack of customer service that I had experienced. I've had appointments rescheduled before, and never been bothered by that, because usually it's been done WELL IN ADVANCE of the appointment! Just like clients are requested to cancel or reschedule in advance, I'd expect stylists to be able to plan accordingly and do the same. So, appointment cancelled. I feel fine! Don't even need to YELP about it!....till yesterday afternoon, EVP calls me to remind me that I have an appointment today with Bailey! Ha! Get organized, folks! Love the magic you do with hair, but it looks like you're just not that into me. read more

I had my hair done by Sophie back when she worked at Barberella, and now that she moved, I figured I had an excuse to check out East Vanity. I called up to make an appointment for Saturday, but they were all booked up, so the lady on the phone asked me what I was interested in having done. I wanted to get some finger waves, or marcelle waves, sort of a 1920's hairdo to make me look all glossy and retro. The lady at East Vanity said I should come in on Friday - they had an opening at 7:30 so they could set my hair, as it has to curl overnight to be done right, and then I could stop in for a quick styling later on Saturday in between her other clients. I can remember my grandma doing this with her hair when I was younger, and then puttin a doo-rag on it to keep it from getting messy. I also remember being super embarrassed as a tween when she would take me out with her hair like that. OMG Granny! Srsly?! The idea of setting my hair kind of made me giggle. My appointment on Friday was with Kristi and must have been one of the last ones of the day, as the other customers were just about finished when I was getting started, and it kind of gave me a behind-the-scenes look at East Vanity Parlour. The girls were super nice, and engaged in conversations about "worst hair experiences" and I showed them my bleaching accident.... *cringe* and I really felt like I was part of their secret society by the time I left. You know, I was in with the cool chicks. Yes! I came back on Saturday and Kristi combed out the curls and styled me up all fancy, and looked like I had just stepped out of a film noir movie - the dark makeup I had on probably helped a little bit. I highly recommend getting your hair done here, the girls are fabulous, and the parlour is super cute. They made me feel super relaxed and gave me some great suggestions on hair products for my specific hair type, so it will be easier for me to do at home myself. I would obviously rather be at East Vanity every day, but I got mad bills friend! read more

I am so disappointed with my experience at East Vanity Parlour. After recommendations from friends and hearing that a cut is only $40, I decided to give East Vanity Parlour a try. While the hairdresser was lovely and super nice, she did not give me the long blended layers we had discussed. When I got home and had a chance to really look at my hair, I noticed that the layers were actually very chunky, short, and uneven. I tried washing my hair and styling it again, and styling it in different ways, to see if that would help but it still looked very messy. I decided to ask the salon owner if I could have another stylist even out and blend in my layers, which I have never done before and I felt bad saying something but I also feel bad about my hair! When I phoned the salon, the receptionist told me she would take a message and that I could email the salon owner, as well. So I sent a polite email explaining the situation and asking for a fix-up. That was last week and I have heard nothing from the salon since then. I've definitely learned you get what you pay for, and I will never again stray from my previous stylist who charges more but does an amazing job. **Edit. And now of course, my review has been filtered out. A week and a half later, and still no word from the salon owner. Going to a different hairstylist at a different salon today. read more

The absolute best hair place in Vancouver to walk in and declare "I'm bored! Do something fun!" Hot, tattooed hairstylists with a fairly constant stream of some rockin' burlesque talent through the doors? Check. Michelle is my gal of choice, but Heather suits the Mr.'s needs perfectly and Kristi can whip up a beehive like nobody's business. You will never see me headed anywhere else. If anything, I'm trying to figure out how I can spend more time there. What's the best way to tell your hairstylists that you think they're all super cool and you just want to be friends? read more

I love the retro vibe and interesting decor at this fabulous salon in East Van! Heather did my hair for a prohibition themed party a while back and I got SO many compliments, it was unreal. The best part was that I just sort of told her what I was wearing (I went retro men's style with pants, a dress shirt and suspenders) and she just made the hair fit the whole theme perfectly. It also held up for an entire night of fun and even looked cute the next day after removing all the bobby pins and sleeping on it. I would totally recommend this salon to anyone that's looking for a funky style or cut - between the girls at our party about 5 went here and the all looked fab - and you'll have so much fun chillin' & relaxin' in this cute beauty parlour. read more

I didn't visit East Vanity because it has a solid five star average rating on Yelp. No, and I didn't visit East Vanity because of the vintage kitsch pinup style that reminds me half of Slickety Jim's and half of my most intimate girlhood fantasies. I also didn't visit East Vanity because it's a couple blocks away from my house, or because it's right next to a vegan-friendly burrito joint. I didn't visit East Vanity because the staff is foxy, friendly, and well-dressed, nor did I visit East Vanity because it seems like the place that all the cool kids go. I didn't visit East Vanity because I knew that I could trust my whole year of messy grown out hair to any of the stylists there because they're all incredibly good at their jobs. I didn't even visit East Vanity because the haircuts are $30 (without wash)! All of those things are true, yes, but they've been true for a while, and I only went to East Vanity for the first time yesterday. So why did I visit East Vanity? Because I'm friends with one of the stylists, that's why. But even if I weren't, after my experience there, I'd go back. Why? All of the above, but also, while I was in there getting my own overgrown mop sheared, there was another girl in there who walked in a knitter with self-proclaimed "Hermione hair", and walked out a changed woman. There was a spring in her step as the left the salon with her perfectly styled haircut that complemented her natural curl and her face shape, that was indie-cool as hell but still suited her look. It was magical, my friends. Magical. read more

Aside from the icing-on-top of the shop being adorable and kitchy and the stylists being super hot stuff, I LOVE east vanity because they simply do a great job and are fair with pricing. In addition to the wonderful haircut and colour i received, I was blown away with how warm and friendly and genuine all of the stylists in the shop were. If I could give 0 stars I would. Now I understand that due to Covid, there are new policies put in place for most business, so leaving the salon with wet hair due to time issues isn't a big deal. Paying for my hair before it was complete, (leaving a 22% tip) before I could see the outcome was questionable at the time, but even more so now. What is a big deal, is that I spent over $350 to have my hair done and left with a skunk like dye job. I called immediately, and requested to have it fixed. The artist that did my hair, did come in on her day off, early before the salon opens to "fix" my hair. She put a toner on it, leaving again with wet hair, I had to wait until I got home to see the actual colour. (orangeish rust yellow) You will see in the pics that the one where I'm wearing a tanktop is the first failure and the ones where i wearing a hoodie is when its been "fixed" (I've also included the inspo pic which the artist said she loved and we could totally do) After reaching out via instagram asking for the managers email, I was giving the general info email, and sent a message asking for some sort of reimbursement, or at least some acknowledgement to the situation. I sent that email over a week ago, and still no answer. I essentially paid over $300 to have my hair ruined, then even more to have it fixed by a different artist. The artist at East Vanity after reaching out to her personally said she "didnt understand herself why the colour didnt take to anything but my roots" - so did she know that I was walking around with a skunk on my head? All in all, I am so disappointed not only in this traumatic hair experience, but with the lack of professionalism from this small business. read more

Oh, how I love East Vanity Parlour. Let's see, they have awesome, talented hairstylists who I (not so) secretly wish would be my friends, their prices are the absolute best in town, the parlour itself has a quirky, kitchy aesthetic that appeals to me, PLUS they have an excellent, convenient location on Kingsway and Broadway. What else could a gal ask for? My stylist of choice is Michelle. Even though I'm going through an awkward grow-out, she still manages to make my hair look cute and stylish. The mini up-do she gave me yesterday left me as giddy as a school girl. You know how when you go to a stylist, and after they've finished your cut they try to style your hair, but you end up feeling self-conscious because you feel as though it doesn't quite suit you? Well, that has NEVER happened to me at East Vanity Parlour. Michelle and the other gals sure know their stuff, and I love seeing all of their clients walk out the door with huge grins and wicked hair. Being that they are so awesome, I recommended this shop to my best friend, and she is now a regular here too. In fact, Michelle is doing the up-dos for the bridal party for her wedding. We are also getting our make-up done by the East Vanity girls, and I am completely confident that we will leave looking like some seriously hot stuff. I accompanied my friend while she got her trial hair and make-up done, and in the near 20 years that I've known her, I've never seen her look so good. In short, if you're looking for a hairstylist in Vancouver, check out these gals first. The lack of pretentiousness here is refreshing, and you'll leave looking damn fine. Edited to add (November 6th): The hair and make-up that the East Vanity gals did for my best friend's wedding was in fact so awesome that the wedding is featured in the current issue of Real Weddings magazine. Thanks again, ladies. read more

I was hunting for a stylist who could give me a stellar up-do for a rockabilly dance party and stumbled across East Vanity Parlour. I was given a bit of a wait but ended up with a great cut and curls (Actually, they were victory rolls) by a licensed stylist, and for a great price. I don't even know what else to add to that, it's just THAT cut and dry. I've never had a go-to stylist before, as I tend to cut my own hair with dull scissors in a dark basement in front of a dusty mirror (I care about my looks, see?) But I think I've got one now! Just one more point to my review: While I was having my hair done, I overheard an irate would-be-customer fuming over the fact that they were too busy to take a walk-in. So on that note, Book an appointment, and do it early! East Vanity Parlour is booked solid for a reason folks. read more

As someone who has been visiting hairdressers every six weeks for the past 16 years for bleach touch-ups, I have the chops to say THIS place takes the cake in pricing. $175 for a root bleach and tone!! No wonder the only people that go there are coming in for a cut. When I asked why it was so much more expensive than my last visit, the unfriendly receptionist blankly said that it was for product ($40/hr for colouring x 2 hrs, so that means $75 for product?!? wtf!) Nothing bad to say about my colourist - she did a great job and was very personable. But when the service is completed and I'm about to pay, it is not the time to inform me of your new outrageous pricing. I was with my last colourist for 7 years before I moved, so I'm saying I'm ridiculously loyal...that's worth something, right? Needless to say, I won't be back to East Vanity. read more

I've been here a total of 5 times. Each time was excellent-- friendly service and I always get exactly what I want-- even without a photo. Their prices are excellent and the salon is quirky and cute. Yesterday, Bailey cut my hair. I went from having hair that was about 5 inches past my shoulders to a rather short pixie cut. I showed her a photo of Mia Farrow (circa rosemary's baby) and a photo of Tao Okamoto (post bowl cut) and requested something mod. I've had super short hair before, but have never gotten exactly what I wanted. That is, until Bailey cut my hair. To quote my boyfriend, it looks "exactly like the photo" (if you'd like to see the photo for reference, here it is: http://www.short-haircut.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Mia-Farrow-short-hair.jpg) I knew she would be able to come close to the photo-- after all, the stylists here are pretty reliable. But I honestly didn't expect her to be so bang on-- especially since I showed her a photo of a Caucasian woman and Asian (my hair) is a bit different. Not only that, but my head is not shaped like Mia Farrow's. However, Bailey managed to sculpt my hair in such a way that my face appeared more slender and feminine, which I didn't think was possible. Rarely have I ever loved my hair right after I got it cut-- especially after a dramatic length change. Bailey is truly a gem and really gets how to work around what I felt was an awkward shaped head. If you're going for a dramatic change from long hair to short hair, I *highly* recommend Bailey. It's also worth mentioning that she's uber friendly. Bonus points: their products smell pretty fantastic. read more

Combine my fine, curly hair with my absolute styling laziness, and you may get an idea as to why it's been so hard for me to find a good hairstylist. When I first moved to Vancouver a friend in hairstyling school would practice on me - yay, free haircuts! Boooo they took hours. Once she graduated to work at a professional salon, I thought "hey, if I'm going to have to pay now, I may as well go someplace where it doesn't take hours to get a haircut." And Yelp came to my rescue. My first stylist was Michelle and she knocked me out with her ability to take my uber fine hair with it's curls galore, and cut it and style it and make me look purty in a way that I can recreate at home. No hours spent fussing, no handfuls of product. No frizzies, no long hippy bangs covering my face. It's pretty damn cool let me tell you. A few times I've (mistakenly) seen someone else and been less than pleased with the result. Seriously, curly hair that is not thick and coarse is something many people have a hard time cutting. It's a fine line between taking off some of the weight and taking off too much and leaving me with mega frizz. Michelle hits the sweet spot all the time and I will never ever ever see anyone else. Love their products, especially the hair oil. They smell good, feel great and last a while. More importantly though, is that no one has ever tried to sell anything to me unless I initially ask for info. Whew. If you value your hair, go see these ladies and change your life. read more

This review is two years in the making, which means I've yet to find a salon that measures up to East Vanity Parlour. Superficially, this salon is beautiful, retro and cozy. Now for the nitty gritty. Two years ago, Katy (a true expert) gave me the haircut of a lifetime. I had a vision of what I wanted, and although I may not have articulated it well, she understood me to a T. We also had a nice chat about whale watching in Tofino. 6 or 7 inches of hair were lobbed off, and for the first time, I didn't miss it. Going from long to short can be a traumatic experience, but I felt liberated stepping out of East Vanity. I really hope Katy still works there because she totally deserves kudos for being able to absorb and execute style requests. While I currently reside in SoCal, I've debated making a trip out to Van just for a haircut! Thank you, EV, for creating such a fond beauty memory. read more

East Vanity Parlour is where Kristi is; that's all I ever need to know. She's been my fav. haircutter for, um, 13 years? I've been following her around to every salon she's been since then. When she opened EVP it was finally the perfect place for her, it's like her personality, as wild weird and wonderful as she is, has incarnated into this space. My hair is in love with Kristi. Whenever she does anything to it, it magically looks fantastic. I'm maybe the oldest client there, ya? at age 62, but some of us old farts still love to feel young and funky. I love going to EVP, being there, enjoy the vibe, the happy buzz, the music, the stuff on the walls. OK, everything. (And my retiree budget if fine with it too.) read more

I suppose if you are going anywhere to get your hair cut, it should be a rockabilly salon across the road from your office with 5 star reviews. Previous to reading what Yelp had to say, I was a bit nervous, these ladies are all glam-rock looking and tattooed, intimidating for sure! But when I called to book and arrived for my appointment, they were anything but and it was a lovely experience. I just came for a haircut, nothing crazy and we chatted about what I wanted. Overall I was happy with the cut, the curls fell out pretty much straight away as they were flat-iron curls and those don't hold up well. It wasn't the most exciting haircut I've ever gotten but I was really just looking for a maintenance cut. I guess I would have liked more discussion or suggestions on something interesting but none were forthcoming. We did talk about the condition of my hair and the stylist did the usual up-selling of product throughout the wash and cut. Again I have a pet peeve on this, but it wasn't a hard sell so that was fine. She used some Davines colour conditioner on my hair and I was very interested in hearing about that. I'll probably go back and pick up that product, the other shampoos were a bit too expensive at $26 to consider. In the end, even though the site advertises cuts for $40, it cost me $56 so I am not sure where the rest of that $$ came from. Regardless I would definitely go back, if only to get one of those amazing vintage up-dos for an event. read more

Well, it has been 5 weeks since my cut and color with Sarah O'Brien at EVP. This is the second time that I have visited Sarah and I wanted to wait until my hair grew out abit to honestly rate how I felt about her "handi-work" and the quality of the color that she applied. I am definitely a fan!!! I have received many compliments on the shiny highlights that adorn my head as well as the shape of the cut. Now I am an "older" woman so when I get that kind of feed-back, I know that something good has occurred. A big thank you to Sarah (aka Pinky) for employing her artistry and cutting my wavy, fine hair in such a way that it just falls into a nice shape whether I let it dry au naturale or hot iron or curl it. Sarah also spent time with me creating a color plan that will work with my "just starting to grey hair" - something that will conceal the grey that is coming in but also minimize the number of times that I will need a full color job. While I was sitting in the chair, I noticed other clients getting awesome and creative cuts from the other stylists in this cute, little retro salon. I'm sold! read more

Got a haircut here a while back. The salon is quite small and has an informal slightly squishy waiting area. The decor is very cute. I came here primarily for the price and proximity to my work location at the time. It's a little hard to find as Kingsway splits off. My hair is quite thick and can be challenging for stylists who are used to cutting fine hair. My experience was okay. The haircut was a little boxy and not the long layers I was looking for. My stylist wasn't very talkative. Overall, not really the place for me. read more

I don't have the enviable, sleek, silken waterfall that is typical of other Chinese girls. What I do have is +++ thick hair, rollicking ringlets, no end of natural volume, and too many teen years of being taken to hair stylists of Chinese-descent who repeatedly offered (pressured me!) to straighten my hair chemically. So, imagine the depth of my pleasure & relief at coming to EVP, and into the patient, capable, friendly, smiling care of Sam, who celebrates my ringlets, nay, actually marvels over them, each time she blow-dries my hair after a cut! Would wonders never cease!! I walk out feeling so pretty & being thankful for & not fretful over my hair. And the cuts ALWAYS grow out beautifully over the next 2-3 months when I'm too busy to re-visit in a timely fashion. I love the low-key vibe of the salon. I love that they are always friendly on the phone. I appreciate the appointment reminders. I love that dry cuts are only $30, even though thus far I haven't yet been able to resist the pretty of having hair blown dry. Maybe one of these days. :P read more

Love the vibe here, awesome stylists. Free bang touch ups - most have been great, but one or two have been not quite what i asked for. But, you know, bangs are hard to get just right and the touch ups are free. I love that I can grab a "dry" cut with no wash or blow dry for $30 - since I'm trying to grow my hair i need frequent touch ups but not the whole deal it's pretty great. My dream is a salon that can serve beer. I'd actually hang out at this salon all day if that were true. read more

It took me 2 long years filled with stifled sob-smiles and hardcore praying in front of many a hairdresser's mirror before I finally found this gem, and the saviour of my hair, Bailey. I'm Asian, so it's always been a struggle for me to find a hairdresser whenever I moved. However, Bailey knew exactly what to do with it after I told her what I wanted. $40 for a wash and expert cut is absolutely worth it in my books. A plus is the awesome shampoo they use, ranging from mint to some kind of floral (as you can tell, I'm a botanist). Seriously, come here and ask for Bailey for a kickass haircut. read more

I went in last Friday with a budget of 300$ and a mess of hair that needed a complete overhaul. It was my birthday and it was time to change my old style that I'd had for around 3 years. My stylist was Sam and not only was she full of great ideas, she delivered a style that worked perfectly for me. She took the time (4.5 hours) to do everything perfectly. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first and she talked it out with me until we had a game plan we were both very excited about. At the end of the adventure, Sam had transformed my dead mess of brownish red frizz into an adorable dark chocolate bob with the most amazing red highlights. She managed to keep the essence of me while still giving me a style that I can wear to any professional event. All the girls there were fabulous. The decor was cute and fun. The atmosphere was happy and very relaxed (I by no means felt like anyone was going to judge me for the horrible state my hair was in, which I've felt in other salons.) The price was perfect coming in at just under 300$ including tip for a very dedicated amount of work. I cannot recommend them enough. In the past week, I have recommended to everyone I know to go here for their next hair experience. I will most certainly be back. read more

I absolutely love this place. Every stylist who works there is incredibly skilled. I always walk out feeling amazing. They will work with ideas that are off-the-wall, vintage, or whatever your heart desires. It's also a great environment and location is very easy to get to. I would recommend this place to anyone, regardless of gender. read more

I lost my previous stylist back in the fall and have been contemplating where to take my hair ever since. Enter this onslaught of raving reviews. Decision made. Love love love this place! It is teeny tiny and full of vintage charm. I know they are moving soon so they can properly spread their wings - which will be awesome but there is definitely something to this small space. Elsa (forgive spelling I never asked!) was wicked! She took my indecisiveness in stride (to my face anyway!) and helped me come to a dye conclusion. She gave me the most beautiful pink ombre and added some shape and life back into my neglected locks. Thank you! Everyone in here is crazy friendly. Stylists and customers alike. I really enjoyed the conversations happening between everyone - it made for a really lovely morning. Be nice to yourself and come here. Period. read more
