My experiences at Bobos have usually been good, til this last appt, when I opted for OPI Weekly for an additional $3. The manicure is expected to last an additional....didn't last 2 days following the appt. Wore gloves to protect my hands from excessive exposure to water & gardening. Every single nail is cracked and / or chipped. Upon looking closer, the product dried so poorly, it looks like another layer was slapped on, barely covering the nail so it's lumpy. Cheap & ugly. Have I reached out to Bobos? No. Why? I've yet to meet a manicure place willing to make amends. I just know I would NEVER recommend OPI Weekly .... should seriously be renamed OPI Weakly read more

I've been coming to Bobos on and off for about 4 years now, but now that they have recently changed management i am actually compelled to write a review because I believe this change was for the better! The decor is more or less the same, I think they've added some fresh paint or wallpaper but overall the place does feel a bit cleaner - perhaps because it's less cluttered and chaotic. Previously, the manager was also acting as the secretary and was constantly getting up to direct the staff to different clients, and the place just felt like a zoo. There are two people on the front desk now, and the staff seem to know exactly which customer to get from the waiting area and it's just a less stressful waiting experience. The manicures and pedicures are fantastic. Seriously, no place in Richmond Hill gives a pedi like Bobos does. They are thorough, attentive, and never rushed. The manicures are really nice too, they give a stellar hand/arm massage with lotion and hot towels after. What I also really love is that a weekly polish change isn't just a ten minute appointment where they wipe off the old and slap on the new - the staff take the time to buff, trim, or whatever else you need to keep your hands looking fresh week to week. The staff are very friendly and professional. I've noticed that the new staff are more 'standardized' in their work; they all seem to be equally technically competent and do a nice job whereas under previous management i felt that some staff were significantly better than others. The same goes for waxing services. I had stopped going to Bobos for waxes because they became so inconsistent and I couldn't always get an appointment with the one staff whose work I liked. I've given them another try recently, and i was not disappointed! The girl was meticulous and i will definitely return to see if it's the same with other staff members. Overall, I'm quite pleased with how Bobos has turned themselves around and refined the experience. They have a huge collection of colours (OPI, Essie, CND), shellac, and acrylic, and they always use clean sterilized equipment. Price-wise, you could probably find cheaper nail joints (it's 13$ for a weekly polish change, 15$ for a shellac polish change), but the extra few dollars is worth it to stay in richmond hill and enjoy your pampering time. read more

I've been coming here for 3 years now for manicures and pedicures. They do an amazing job of taking care of my hands and feet and the ladies are super nice and fun to talk to. They also have a very extensive collection of nail polish colours (OPI and Essie) and always carry the newest collections from these lines. And if you're worried about sharing nail files and buffers, you can ask to get your own personal box which includes those two items and they keep it there for whenever you return. P.s. There are daily specials here. From what I can remember of the top of my head Tuesdays are 20% off for people 19 yrs or younger and Wednesdays are $45 for a mani and pedi P.p.s. Their equipment are clean and sterilized and they have kind mannered staff working there who are attentive to detail (esp when cleaning the cuticles) Their manis are on the pricer side, but its worth it esp when they do their hand massage. I was reading all the reviews in my area on the best nail salons to go to and came across Bobo's Spa and Nails. Decided I would give it a try since they had great ratings.. Boy was I disappointed when I walked out of there. The lady that did my polish change was a sweet lady but she rushed through my polish application and in the end my shellac polish was uneven, the polish wasn't applied properly on my nails, and there are specks of debris on my nails. Being a nail technician, I am very particular about my nails and polish application, but I've been to many places that have done a better job. I will not be going back to Bobo's and the prices there are a little overpriced. I had to pay $6 to fix a broken nail and then $19 for a shellac polish + tax.. a regular manicure costs less and you get the works done on your nails and hands. my shellac polish lasted me four days and then started peeling.. read more

I discovered Bobo's shortly after I moved into the neighbourhood and have mostly given up the much costlier manis and pedis at the "upscale" salons in Yorkville. Bobo's does an absolutely amazing job, at a fraction of the cost. Here, the girls are trained very, very well in nail care and polish application, and even paint the top edge of your nails to minimize chipping. The hand and foot massage that is included is not just a quick 30 seconds one that I noticed other salons do (and charge much more for) but is at least 4 minutes per limb. It's a small place, and definitely nothing glamourous. But it's tastefully decorated and the staff are very, very friendly. They always make sure to ask you whether or not you want your calluses removed, what shape you want your nails, and how much foot filing you want to get done. The cooling foot and leg scrub is nice too. As the other reviewer said, they do have an extensive collection of colours, and always has the newest OPI line of the season. I always bring in my own polish and they have no problems with that. I mostly go here for manis and pedis, but have done the occasional hair removal treatment as well. My favourite salon. No matter any other places I try they just don't compare. Every nail tech I've had over my 4 years of coming here has been wonderful. Always professional, no staff talking in other languages, they pay attention to details and do an amazing job each time. The front desk manager is great too, she keeps everything organized and professional. They are always busy and you have to make an appointment. They are always packed with clients, so I would recommend calling in advance for your appointments! Wow is all I can say. I have been to about 30 nail salons in toronto, from Bloor west to, north york to liberty village, and up to richmond hill.... basically all over the place. I have never ever had such a good shellac manicure. At Bobo's its 30 for regular shellac or 35 for french manicure shellac. I got regular shellac in mod about you by OPI, as well as a toe nail polish change which is 13, they cut and file the nails and then clean your feet with a hot towel. Pedicures happen in the back with two foot spas per room, you may have a stranger as your neighbour but I didn't mind. No charge for removing shellac if you are getting it put on again. I usually bleed during cuticle cleaning (fingers) and I notified Christine, she did not cut me once or even hurt me during the process. Christine did both services and she is incredible. My nails and toes look amazing, the application was perfect. Staff are friendly and professional, it was very busy when I was there. there is no pressure to get designs or paraffin wax or anything else like that which is really nice!! The salon is very clean and organized. This place seems to book up very very fast i recommend an appointment. I will definitely be going back to this place, yes the prices are higher than some other nail salons but I believe it is totally worth it. Both services came to 48 with tax. I came here with a friend for her birthday in the Fall of 2011, and neither of us had been before. We were pleasantly surprised with the service. We were able to receive our manis and pedis together in a room. My friend got an additional paraffin wax with her mani/pedi that we splurged for her bday, but the regular mani/pedi were great enough as well! The place is a bit small, so it probably wouldn't accommodate large groups at the same time. Prices are typical spa prices, but definitely better than the luxurious spas. I came here to fix a manicure that I got recently and I was so glad afterwards! I was annoyed that my last one didn't last so I had to get my nails redone within days. Yuji was super nice, skilled and fast. She looked at my nails and told me that I only needed a polish change since I had just gotten a manicure recently. It was $5 for removal of my old shellac and $19 for the polish change. I got an OPI shellac manicure and it was perfect. I was so glad I got everything fixed so quickly. Superwoman and I came here one day on a half whim. The spa is very clean, they open new implements in front of you, and the service was good, though not super friendly (which is okay). Lucky for us, they could accommodate us right away - we didn't expect it, knowing how busy this place could get. The two of us got a private room to ourselves, which was very nice. The polish choice was pretty good and they have all the newest colours. The massage chairs worked and were comfy. The pedicure was quite decent, too - but they charge a bit more than others, so I'd kind of expect it. When people get paid better wages, they tend to provide better service and do a better job. There was appropriate attention to detail and there was also a scrub, which I appreciated. No such thing as tax-free with cash here - they charge tax anyway, so I used my cash back credit card (though as always, I paid my gratuities in cash directly to the estheticians). **Updated: September 28, 2015 I recently went to Bobo's for the second time. I had a shellac done but the shellac was coated on too thick and my nails now look like there are goops of nail polish on them, which I do not like. I went to a different nail salon a week ago which was better. The thick application also happened on my first visit, but only on a few of my nails and was not as noticeable but it looks like this could be the standard look here, also for the price (which is higher then a few places) I just expected better. For the unevenness I've deducted stars, and not likely to recommend unless you're near by. I should add that the staff are still great and happy to help (most of the time) so that's a plus, but that's about it. I came here for a mani/pedi before a wedding. I use to go a place at Victoria Park and Sheppard which was slightly cheaper in price, but since it's a bit far for me I decided to go to Bobo's. My nails came out great. I was really happy about it. The experience was quite pampering and relaxing, which I didn't expect. The chair you sit in for the mani/pedi is a massage chair that you can set to your liking - I really enjoyed that surprise. The prices are a tad higher then average but I would recommend this place to my friends. I'll likely be going here for my mani/pedis going forward. I can't believe my first yelp review is so negative. But I can't stand how terribly I was treated recently so I decided to share my experience. Please read on as you will find out WHOM TO AVOID when you use their service. I have been with Bobo for a few years. I have enjoyed their service until last Saturday. A girl named Liah was so rude and unprofessional. She barely talked to me the whole time. Instead she talked to the customer next to me. She scrubbed hard on my toes so I told her it hurt. She got offended and totally skipped the scrubbing. When I asked her to continue to do it, she complained in her own language IN FRONT OF ME. The whole experience was so terrible that it ruined my entire day. I complained to the manager. She was apologetic but did not do anything about it. No matter how upset I was, I still gave her a fair tip. I strongly recommend to avoid this girl Liah (if I spell right) and choose many other wonderful ladies there. After reading all the Yelp reviews, I decided to try out Bobo's! I must say thank you to all the reviewers! Bobo's is a great little spa and nail salon on Bayview - in the same plaza as Starbucks. I had a shellac french manicure and shellac pedicure for my wedding (destination wedding week!!) and they did an amazing job. VERY clean and sterile! Couldn't have asked for a better mani! Yuri did my french shellac manicure and Karen did my pedi! They did a great job!! Thanks ladies!! I also came back the next day to get a facial and eye brow wax done. I got the 90min long lasting deep hydrating facial and it was so relaxing! Karen did my facial and I will definitely come back to see her. She took her time with the facial and was very gentle - threw in some very relaxing massages while some of the masks took time to dry. It never felt rushed and the facial massage was perfect to get me relaxed for my wedding. Pricing is average for the area, but to be honest, they are so nice and clean - I wouldn't mind paying extra! I have learned about this Salon from a friend who is super picky about her nails and when she told me that she was thrilled with a nail place I knew I had to go there. The place is not huge and super fancy but the job they do is amazing and totally worth the money. It's a bit more then the usual mani/pedi places ($18 for Manicure and $45 for a mani/pedi combo) but it sure is worth the extra to keep your hands and feel nice. For some reason their manicures last you a good week. Any other place I went to the nail polish would chip on the 2nd day and after Bobo's they last for upto a week with just minor cracks closer to the 7th day. I recommend this place to anyone. The owner with a Chinese accent on the phone acted like a 5 year old, making hissing noises as though the phone was being disconnected. Then hung up on me. The service is great, the staff are wonderful and I especially love the pedicure rooms where you and a friend have some privacy from the other salon guests. The prices are reasonable, and I have never had a complaint about the service. The aren't too busy during the week but I have learnt to call ahead on the weekends so I am not disappointed. DO NOT come here for a pedicure. I switched to Bobo's because my former nail salon was in Toronto and I wanted something closer to home. The pedicure itself was fine, it was average. But within a week ALL of the polish on my toes had flaked off. This has never happened to me before. In fact, my pedicures seem to NEVER go away until I go to get them done again, aside from a tiny chip here or there after 3 weeks have past. When I called Bobo's to ask if they could just polish my toes for free because of what happened, they said "I don't know what you do with your feet" and refused. This nail place has become indifferent to customer service. Big mistake. There is lots of competition out there just waiting to get my dollars, and they have. It used to win "best nail place" in the local paper, but they have not kept up. The decor is worn down. The staff turns over very quickly, and they do not seem happy at all. I've been to Bobo's twice and I have had very unsatisfactory and disappointing manicures. Both times, I've had to go back the day after because the polish had chipped. The manicure I got recently chipped the night I got it done, so I went back in the morning and they fixed it for me (free of charge). By the end of the next day, the entire manicure had peeled off - my nails didn't break, the polish literally just came off. The salon may use thinners in their polish to make the bottles last longer, because how else does a fresh manicure come off SO easily? I have an office job, so I don't use my hands for anything overzealous. Don't get me wrong - the women there are extremely nice, and shape my nails well, but I have yet to get a manicure at Bobo's that's lasted more than a day. read more

I have been coming here for years and recommended this place to many friends and family. Even though their prices are a bit more I always liked the end result. I got a pedicure less then two weeks ago (spent over $45) and the polish on two of my toe nails came completely off. And it's not even sandal season. Usually a pedicure will last me 6-8 weeks (sometimes longer). I called to ask if I could get a touch-up on just those two nails, since the rest of my toe nails were perfect and was told "no" and that I would have to pay for a full polish change. I was completely shocked. I've never complained of a service from them before and explained that I have been a loyal customer for years and this has never happened to any of my past pedicures. The lady I spoke to said it was normal for a pedicure to last less then two weeks. I disagree for the price I pay for a pedicure I expect it to last longer with proper care.
