Then the novelty wears off just like that. You can go up close and underneath it, unlike the World's Largest Rocking Chair in Casey, Illinois (which they had roped off when I was there last year). On the wooden legs you see so many people trying to advertise their blog/YouTube channel/whatever with stickers, which kind of takes the fun out of things. (Then again, you see this happen on a lot of Route 66 attractions, even at the Chicago begin/end signs) But, it makes for a great selfie and Instagram moment. Probably the best spot for that kind of thing on Route 66 in Missouri.

Over 100 canoes carefully laid out as an homage to the famous Stonehenge in England, this is…read moreCanoehenge. These are recycled/repurposed canoes from the nearby Meramec River. The installation is 7 miles down the road from the interstate, at points curvy and narrow. And when you arrive here, it's exactly what it sounds like. Someone went to a terrific amount of effort to put this installation in place. It will take you longer to get here from the highway than it will to tour the site. But you should still do it. Cool thing to see while in Cuba, Missouri. It's no wonder Cuba is nicknamed "Mural City". There are…read morelots of murals along Route 66, but I'd say Cuba takes the cake on being the most stood out in MO. They are not all in one place, though they are close to the Mother Road. All of them have a story to go with them, like Harry Truman's visit to the city. Amelia Earhart's plane made an emergency landing near Cuba. But my favorite is the one about Bette Davis and how she was trying to prevent a local photographer from publishing a candid photo of her, during a visit to Cuba. All of the murals have been well-kept, especially after being up for longer than 15 years! If you're just passing through the city, or on a Route 66 road trip, make it a priority to catch these murals! The list is on the website on where to find them.

Synonymous with the Gateway Arch! While we stopped just to see the arch, we did not go up. We had too much going on to stop here. Try parking a sixteen wheeler and finding clearance in the downtown area. Impossible. And cannot be stopped, so we got out for a while and took in our memories the arch from away. The significance of this state can be found in every aspect of the state. This was a place where the Civil War was fought. Many places where men fought brother to brother and bleed for whatever reason. The trees and bushes of the area cover the ground and land . They have grown over the indifferences of the past. The rains wash away the pain of the past and leave the present beauty with the hope that we will have strong bonds of love and peace. The individuals of this state are nice to a fault, but deep indifferences still plague their area and lives. We need to build our communities strong. Hand in hand with remedial love and kindness. In the end, we need to make love the reason. The beauty of the Midwest starts here. As we drive through we see the world green all around us. Welcome one another with love and happiness. The rest is easy. Learn from the strife of the past and come to together in terms that we can all relate and understand.

There is very little to do around here which means the name is absolutely perfect and appropriate. In fact it's not just in the middle of nowhere, but it's in the middle of Missouri, which some people would say is even worse.
