I adore the large pasta dish we ordered which was wonderfully fresh and very well sauced! I love the bread service and the butter that accompanies it. Absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! Everything, and I mean everything about it was wonderful. Reservations on line easy. We needed to add two people to our reservation, no issues. Got there and we were treated with such welcome! The place was lovely with round tables for our larger group. Why don't more places do round tables. Genius! The service was fantastic. We had multiple servers but I think his name was Henrique. Now the food! I rarely go to a restaurant and everything is good. Bucca Di Lupo didn't miss a beat on anything! They cook like you are in Italy! We tried almost everything. We got the following: Asparagus risotto, spaghetti with wild garlic pesto, rigatoni with spicy sausage, fettuccine alla carbonara, egg and cheese balls in tomato sauce, borage and spinach pansotti with walnut sauce, grilled sea bream, and the lemon salad. Damn it was all so good. Wine lovely and cocktails delicious (Negroni's). But the coffee with egg in! Must try! So decadent! All around if you are in SoHo go! Run! read more

Good meal here! This place had been on my list for quite some time, so I was excited to get a reservation. We ordered a few different things to spilt. The standout dish here was definitely the ragu, which was clearly homemade and absolutely delicious.The pesto dish as well was lovely! The lemon pasta dish didn't quite do it for me, nor did the desserts. The fried mozzarella balls were tasty, but not particularly interesting or creative. Overall very good spot! read more

Pre-show food was good, but they wet packed and running a bit slow in the kitchen, and it was taking a bit longer than expected. When they came back to ask for our main entrees, I asked if we could order dessert in advance as we were trying to make our show, which was a bit further than some of the other theatres (we were going to see Cabaret). The very arrogant manager came to ask me why we were in such a rush, and when I explained to him that we didn't want to be late to our show, he said in the most condescending tone possible, "everyone has a show to go to -- just relax." It took FOREVER for them to bring our check (it almost felt like they did it on purpose), and we ended up rushing to the show and only made it about 5 minutes before it started. I'd maybe come back for a regular dinner if someone else suggested it as the food was good, but the pre-show experience was stressful and the manager was obnoxious. read more

This is a really special place. From entering, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. I was seated before my reservation time without comment, was offered really yummy foccacia and olives, and was even helped to get my seat pushed in at the bar. I did the prix fixe option, which I love, and the food was really amazing, moderately priced, and fun. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the world, and I'll definitely be back. read more

Dined on a Wednesday night, packed as always. A small dining room with a staff that is exceptional, It's a team that works well together. Keeping an eye on every table. Advising you on best combinations from the menu. Makes you feel like a special guest. Special shout out to James!! The food, as always, is outstanding. The simplest dishes are superb. The carbonata was incredible. you could taste each ingredient. The John Dory and the pappardelle were wonderful. We came back for a late night snack on the following Friday and were not disappointed. I was worried that the restaurant would be noisy as it was very busy but the acoustics in the room were surprisingly good - we had an excellent meal and also were able to carry on a conversation without having to raise our voices! We made it back after a long absence and not sure it is our cup of tea. It's got a great vibe and a really nice cocktail menu, which we didnt get to sample based on what else we were doing. The challenges are two fold: it is loud/crowded so be prepared for that when you come at a peak time like 7/730. The second is that we found the food less elevated than it had been historically. The pork wasnt cooked as well as we'd like to render the fat and the other dishes were just not as strong. The team was very solicitous on feedback so I expect with all things you can get some variance in service and food. They clearly want to get better which is great to see. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in London. A very lively place, very friendly and attentive service and really amazing food. Multiple staff came to check on me since I was dining by myself. They were so friendly despite the restaurant was absolutely packed. Most of the selections come in half size and full size. I recommend ordering the smaller half size and order a few things to share. Reservation is highly recommended because it's not a very big restaurant and it's right in busy SOHO. A quick 3 minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus. Ask your waitress or waiter for their recommendations. The menu changes frequently. read more

This place absolutely rules in every way. We were just trying to find a quick, decent bite before a show and we stumbled across this bustling, quaint but very pro looking establishment. It was very crowded but there wasn't a line at the door... I sheepishly told the hostess there were two of us and we only had about 50 mins.. so I understood if it was an issue (the last 3 places we tried said no) - she said "There are two people at the bar that are about to leave, give me a few minutes." Now this is not your average bar - it's the best seats in the house in my opinion - we sat watching the Chefs prepare these beautiful pasta dishes... and the hostess told the waitress we were in a hurry, so she made sure our order went in really fast... The expeditor knew who we were and they asked us questions about where we were from and what we were seeing - and so very sincere.. we had a really good convo with our hostess. Our food literally came out like 15-20 mins from when we stepped in the door. And it was delicious. Watching the cooking staff work and respond to the Chef while having a nice glass of wine and eating the delicious food and actually being out the door in about 40 minutes...It was heaven! I didn't want to leave, but the play awaited. I will tell friends about this place and we will surely come back next time we are in London! Superb! read more

We spent 4 days in Covent Garden and ate out every meal. This was by far my most memorable meal. The gnudi was so delicate but packed with flavor and the lamb ragù tied it together perfectly. Not pictured in my review was a wild garlic and morel linguini that I think about every day. They make all the pasta in house and the service is great. We were met by our server then had a short chat with with sommelier to help with drink selections. We chose this place based on a recommendation and I look forward to sending others there and especially revisiting it myself. The restaurant is small and cozy so make a reservation if able. There seemed to be a bit more space at the bar if you don't mind the high top there's a great view of the kitchen operation. read more

Bocca Di Lupo is a gourmet Italian restaurant that opened in London, England in 2008. It was founded by chef Jacob Kenedy and his business partner Victor Hugo. The two had originally worked together at Moro Restaurant in London's Exmouth Market before starting their current venture in Soho. The partners chose the name 'Bocca Di Lupo' (Italian for "the mouth of the wolf") as a reference to the related Italian idiom 'In bocca al lupo" (meaning "into the wolf's mouth"). The name is comparable to the English idiom "break a leg". All of the dishes are based on recipes from multiple regions of Italy. The restaurant has won several accolades over the years, including 'Best London Restaurant' (Time Out Magazine 2009), 'Best Wine List' (Tatler Magazine 2013), as well as a Michelin Guide 'Bib Gourmand' award. My wife and I visited Bocca Di Lupo in April 2019 while we were on a week-long trip in London. My wife brought me there as a surprise early birthday present. After looking over the menu, we decided to order some appetizers first. We shared a plate of fresh buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and basil as well as a plate of 'Carciofi alla Giudia' (Roman-Jewish Artichokes). We actually had the latter when we visited the Jewish Ghetto in Rome the previous year, and Bocca Di Lupo's version made us feel like we were back in Rome again. For my entree, I ordered Tortellini stuffed with pork & prosciutto, served with peas, asparagus and cream. It was divine! My wife's entree was Wild Asparagus Risotto and it was absolutely delicious. We also ordered some excellent wines to go with our food. As an early birthday present, my wife had the restaurant bring me Pastiera Napoletana: a Neapolitan Easter tart filled with ricotta, candied fruits and grains of wheat. This was my kind of dessert! My wife ordered a Blood Orange Granita with almonds and mint for her dessert. We ordered some glasses of limoncello to enjoy too! We had a fantastic dining experience! The owners also have a gelateria called Gelupo right across the street. We were pretty full, but we looked through the window and their gelato looked excellent. We definitely want to try it out the next time we visit London. read more

Bocca di lupo is fantastic. There is something for everyone here from a lunch special, a theatre special to a fantastic dine in menu! Service is terrific and you could just tell that everyone actually knew their menu. On one very embarrassing location, I stepped out before paying (absolutely horrifying) and the staff was so understanding and I was utterly horrified I haven't tried everything here but I hope to! Some of my highlights: The Panzanella Salad with grilled chicken (Lunch special) A Theatre menu with the best pomodoro I've ever tried I've heard that their is a room below is for the big ballers who roll through London, I can't wait to see the wine list with that menu! (can anyone confirm if this is true). For anyone who dives into the London food scene, I am finding that their a secret places within a few restaurants :) For anyone visiting, Bocca di Lupo is in Soho and right in central London. So easy to get to from Piccadilly Circus or after a visit to the RA or Fortnum and Mason. I first discovered it after visiting GELUPO. Gelupo has the best gelato I've ever had. I had a wonderful Negroni cocktail followed by a deep gorier zucchini flower stuffed with mozzarella , then a fantastic penne arrabiata and a strawberry granita with whipped cream. Not only is this a great local London Italian restaurant, it is one of the best I have ever been too. In the States or Italy. The wait staff is personal and helpful. We sat at bar and watched the chef and cooks work their trade. We had mushroom pasta, veal tartar, and a bone in steak. We wanted the whole fish special, but everyone else did too so we missed out. I enjoyed Becca Di Lupo, I would return and would recommend it to others. I dined alone at the bar, the service was attentive. I enjoyed my meal, but was a tad confused by the menu. Most dishes come in 2 sizes, which creates a wonderfully flexible dining experience, but it seemed that my ordering of just a small pasta dish and glass of wine was insufficient to my waiter. They tried to have me order the larger size and/or an appetizer or salad or side. I was a bit nervous that the small size would be too small, but it was just what I needed. This is the best of London had a late night meal after the theater worth the wait. Cook to order and very fresh.

It would be hard to go to London and not dine at Bocca Di Lupo now that I've been here twice (er... technically three times as I came for dinner and later came back for a snack.) This is a fairly small restaurant and getting a reservation is no small task. The first time, my co-worker and I tried to just walk-in and see if we could get a table as we couldn't make reservations, and magically, they had two spots at the bar that were available for 90 minutes so we took that opportunity and were out in 90 minutes. It was fascinating to watch them make the food to order without recipes, simple kitchen tools, and just a constant flow of food prep. Grabbing ingredients, tossing them without measurement into a pan, walking away, coming back later and putting it on a plate. Not even checking it, yet doing this so consistently batch after batch. Amazing! We sampled more the first time we came than the second and the second time we came was a couple of months later and we were sad to see the menu changed, yet the food was still amazing. What we noticed is that the menu changed, but a lot of the dishes were still on there, they just swapped out a bunch of the ingredients (likely to what was in season at that time) so I'm guessing they generally have Risotto on the menu, but the first time it was a kale risotto, the second time it was pumpkin. Both were amazing and I can't choose between which one I liked better though the risotto by far was my favorite dish there. We also found and amazing wine the first time we were there and then the second time, they still had it, we drank one whole bottle, then came back after a show we went to see and had a second bottle with a snack. They brought this particular wine with them from Italy. Serving staff both times were accommodating. As I was there for work, I'm not sure what the prices are as we didn't pay attention to that, but a place I can't wait to come back to! read more

Bocca Di Lupo was somewhere I'd always been interested in trying so was delighted when my friend suggested it. We got a table at 5.15pm on Sunday having booked I believe that morning. Although you have a 2 hour slot we were able to stay until almost 8pm. They ask at the beginning if you have theatre reservations so presumably speed things up if they know you need to leave promptly. The drinks menu is impressive. There's a wide selection of pre-dinner drinks including vermouth and some excellent cocktails including a lovely amaro sour my friend liked so much she continued drinking through the dinner. There's an equally extensive wine menu and after dinner drinks menu, including many dessert wines and grappa. I really like the serious focus on presenting a wide range of Italian drinks. They have a sommelier and some of the servers seem to abdicate all responsibility for understanding what is they offer as a result - so if you want good advice I'd say go for the sommelier no matter how over-egged that seems for one glass wine. Price points I thought were very good, especially for the wine. Food-wise it's mixed. The croquettes were a stand-out, the fried bufala bocconcini had too much liquid in it and was tasteless. Aubergine busiate tasted weirdly of (my favourite) pumpkin ravioli with sage and butter - maybe it was the involvement of the latter two ingredients but odd overall, it felt like something sweeter (albeit delicious) had inappropriately interloped. Fennel sausage was tasty but perhaps expensive at £7 for what is essentially one medium sized sausage. Saltimbocca was not what we expected but had a distinctive marsala flavour and was worth a try. Tortellini was not good - both dry and hard, frankly an insult to Bologna. Bread and oils were outstanding. Atmosphere it's noisy (so glad I had cancelled, in the past, a dinner here with my hearing-impaired father) and a little cramped, although my initial anxiety at 3 kids arriving at the table next to us was totally unfounded as they were impressively well-behaved and I overheard one kid ordering pasta with tomato sauce (not on menu) to which server didn't blink an eye (it's interesting other reviewers have had negative experiences with children. I certainly didn't witness this - although I have to say I think this is a weird place to bring children as it's quite fancy and expensive but if you have money to burn then go for it). I admired the giant and elegant light fixture at the back of the dining room and overall felt positive about the vibe. Service wasn't 100% as we were left a little long at points but overall was attentive and extremely friendly and helpful. It's not perfect but drinks and service are a solid 4 and I'd say if you come here for a few drinks and small plates at the bar, rather than a major meal, you'll enjoy. read more

Second time here was as great as the first time. To make things even better the server remembered me from last year. Food is fabulous here everything I have tried I loved. The portions are good to share if you want to try several things. Reservations are a must, I booked the dinner reservation about one and a half months in advance and the only time I could get was 10:15PM. read more
