This little Italian place in Covent Garden treats you like family. We found based on popular Yelp reviews and made reservations. The cafe is tiny, with maybe a dozen tables inside and another dozen on an enclosed patio. The place is dripping with Old World charm right down to the deli counter. We sat inside in a cozy corner table. Tables are so close that you get to know your neighboring guests. In our case, the neighbors were regulars and gave us some menu tips. We laughed and visited. The servers are all friendly. We had several people serve us. Water came quickly as did our wine and beer. For dinner, I had the Oak Smoked Salmon Salad. The salmon was delicious and plentiful. The capers were salty and exquisite. I loved the gently pickled onions. I was given olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dress the salad as I wanted. My husband had the Gnocchi "nduja" which was spicy and delicious. We also enjoyed the Garlic Bread which was a stone fire cooked flatbread. I'd return and highly recommend. read more

We had a great time at Prins Sapporo d'Italia. The staff was friendly and helpful. We sat on the patio and with the heater and wind block it was a pleasant night in November. The drinks were good. But the star of the show was the pasta. Both gnocchi dishes were excellent. The carbonara was one of the best we had ever had. I had the truffle dish and it was good but not as good as the others in the group but theirs were fantastic. Our friend who got the salad said it was fine but regretted not getting pasta big time. Great location, nice European streetside cafe vibes, decent food, slightly disappointing serving sizes. We got done with a matinee show (Frozen) with the kids and weren't ready for the day to be over and the kids love pasta, so we looked for well rated Italian nearby. This place popped, so we came. I was expecting a bit of a fancier Italian place, but I actually kind of dug the casual cafe vibe. The white plastic sign above the place saying "pizza & pasta caffé" that looked almost fast food touristy, maybe didn't but I ignored that. We were able to get a four-person table outside immediately and the service was fast and friendly. We all got pasta, my wife got the carbonara, I got the sausage and mushrooms and we just got the kids plain pasta. The actual pasta was all clearly home made (or at least not store bought) and yummy. It wasn't amazing, but at least cleared the bar for what you might expect from a decent Italian restaurant. As far as the accoutrements, the carbonara was very good. My wife has always been obsessed with carbonara after having had it done amazingly a long time ago. I've never quite gotten her obsession, but this was the first time where I thought it was really, really good. It was easily the best thing we ordered. The mushrooms and sausage were good , but other than butter and garlic there wasn't really anything going on. I don't have anything against butter and garlic, but it was just missing something. We also got two glasses of montepulciano that were easy drinking and nice to enjoy while outside on a warm summer day, but nothing to write home about. read more

Fantastic Italian restaurant. It felt like we'd transported to Italy. My wife had the Tagliatelle Carbonara. This was a creamy pasta dish with just enough guanciale (tasted like bacon) to give it a meaty twist. The first waiter, he brought us drinks, said the best dish is the Ravioli Tartufo & Porcini. The second waiter, who actually took out the order, said he had the same dish for lunch. I couldn't go away from two separate witnesses. They were absolutely correct. As an American who isn't familiar with Jubilee Market but has been to the adjacent, more popular Covent Garden, the restaurant can be a bit hard to locate. It's a great setting next to a fresh flower vendor. The service was good. The menu was very good, lots of options. My wife is gluten intolerant and her pizza was terrific. The crust was one of the best she's had. My adult children had pasta dishes and they enjoyed them both. The serving sizes were ample. read more

The crab ravioli was really really good and my husband got a mushroom tagliatelle dish which he very much enjoyed. We also got bruschetta and burrata with prosciutto which was not bad. It was a good meal, but there was something lacking. The ambiance was a little loud (not patrons) from the banging of dishes and servers. It was located semi in a shopping area so easily missed. The meal also wasn't particularly a good value and there was a 12.5% fee added. All in all, it was a decent meal, but for $70+ meal, I would've wanted just a little more something. read more

The reasonable price in Covent garden might be your first clue. The half in half out "Al-fresco" dining would be fine if it wasn't raining or 1000° sticky hot and the kitchen oven wasn't right next to you. The service was fine; standard Italian atmosphere with the mafia boss-like manager/owner who silently exudes "we'll feed you but don't fuck with me" vibe. The table and chairs are rickety for an uneven patio. Honestly the food was disappointing. Like the menu was once delicious but the execution is now tired and lost in translation. Bread had no butter or olive oil offered. Wild boar ravioli was indeed chewy and for a cream sauce it was bland and under seasoned. The prosciutto & melon was giant wedges of unripe melon, with full pieces of prosciutto just laid over them like a blanket over rocks. The prosciutto itself was decent, but again the execution and attention to detail lazy and uninspired. I suspect unwitting tourists continue to come here because of its proximity to the market and enough high stars despite mixed reviews. With the cost of food, supply issues I realize restaurants are struggling to keep quality up, but I don't think scrimping on salt should make that big a dent in your bottom line. read more

I had been craving pasta after seeing the word 'spaghetti' on a building somewhere - the word association is strong with this one. After being turned away at a fancier place down the street, and adrift without reservations on a Saturday night in Covent Garden, a combination of Yelp and Facebook reviews (weird, right?!) led us to this spot. They had a table open right away, which alarmed me a bit, but once we were sat next to a table of Italians cheerfully enjoying a pizza each all of my worries melted away. The menu is pretty extensive, with lots of pizzas and pastas. Jonesing for a homey, basic dish I ordered the tagliatelle bolognese, and my friend got the lasagna. We also split an order of bruschetta with tomatoes - delicious, the crusty bread toasted, soaked in olive oil and garlic, the tomatoes fresh and juicy. My pasta was exactly what the doctor ordered, cooked to perfection, savory and meaty and heartwarming. My friend's lasagna tasted just like my pasta, only cheesier... I'm hungry now just thinking about it. The service was warm and attentive, with lots of folks with Italian accents in the joint. Everyone was personable and friendly. Montepciano wine lovely but the typical gouge price where you pay for nearly a bottle and receive a glass but, hey, it's London. This isn't a chain and is actually run by Italians --hooray! And yum. Service slow, but no slower than in Italy ... The place is hidden inside the Arcade behind a gaggle of artisans selling their wares....go in and look for it. I was drawn to this place because of the high rating. But I was very disappointed. I got the Spinach and Pesto ravioli, expecting fresh, in-house pasta (since the photos on Yelp made it look fresh). But my ravioli had that chewy texture that comes from either dried or frozen pasta. In this case frozen since it is a ravioli. Very efficient with specific requests made as well (e.g no Parmesan etc). Ordered the carbonara and it was delicious! Very creamy and the bacon bits were like no other! Pricing was fair, around £20 per head for main course each and shared starter for two plus drinks. Portion is a decent amount as it is very filling! Would definitely come again. read more
