Delicious! We came here for dessert and coffee after our pasta experience at Pavarotti, 5 minutes away on foot. Cannelonis are to die for, crispy and full of flavor. Our cappuccinos were equally powerful and with nice crema. None of the dreaded bitterness. Ricotta would have been nicer if we'd have come.by earlier... it lost its crispness. Service very nice, Italian style... same for the place, a bit noisy but the color scheme and design helps making it authentic. 10/10 read more

The pasta here is very tasty (and homemade), I have been here three times and each time the waiters have been very kind and open to answer my buddies' questions! The service is great! This place is a cosy little restaurant located in the streets of Leiden. I came here for lunch, having been informed that this was a "classic". I was not disappointed at all. They have a small indoor seating area with the red/white checkered table cloth (a-la The Godfather). You can pick what kind of pasta you want along with the sauce, and they cook up your selection and bring it out to you. They also have a separate bar area where you can order drinks, beer and wine. I ordered the Rigatoni with Porcini sauce. The final dish delivered to my table was simply delicious. Their Porcini sauce is indeed something else ! I'm guessing they make it fresh (unlike a lot of other establishments that probably fill up their pantry with the stuff in the Albert Heijn aisle) In addition to the pasta, the appetizers were also quite tasty. There was a fried ball made with assorted vegetables (zucchini, pumpkins) and one with spinach and anchovies. Great finger food to accompany a great meal. The service is super warm and friendly. Oh, and the Capuchino is quite nice as well. Overall, I think it's reputation as a classic certainly holds up. 5/5 read more

The one thing I just love about italy is that at every street corner, you have a coffee bar where you can raise the caffeine levels in your blood (or lower the blood levels in your caffeine, depending on how addicted you are to coffee :) ) When walking through Leiden, saw this italian looking place and saw that they had espresso, so for sure had to try this :) Unfortunately, outside of Italy, you normally pay quite a bit more for the espresso (0.80 to 1.00 euro in Italy) and indeed, at this place, you also pay a bit more (2 euros for one espresso). That being sad, the espresso was very nice and this store also has some additional italian food you can buy. read more

Grabbed some quick espresso while walking around Leiden. Coffee was really nice, unfortunatelly served in cold cups, which made it get cold pretty quickly..hence 3 stars. It seems like a nice place to grab some warm lunch - pasta - they make it at home. read more

This place is absolutely outstanding for Italian food. It has the best pasta I have tasted (and I have visited Italy about 15 times at this stage). Their fresh ravioli is incredibly delicate and light, and you can actually taste the beautiful fillings like artichoke and ham or truffled cheese. All the pasta dishes are between €10-13, you choose a type of pasta and then a sauce to go with it, and they make it for you there. They also have an amazing starter (for two people, it's huge) of pan fried Scamorza cheese with wilted broccolini and chilli for about 10 euro. I can also highly recommend the cannoli. The staff are pleasant and friendly, all Italian, and the service is good (you order the counter and they bring it to you). It's a very casual place, but genuinely the best food I've had in Leiden, and significantly cheaper than most places. read more

My daughter and I ate at Bocconi tonight. We had an absolutely extraordinary meal. The bread was delicious, the salad had all the right ingredients, and the pesto pasta was out of this world. Then we had the most delicious cannoli to top off the meal. This was genuine food from Italy and we so appreciated it. We highly recommend it. read more

Wow oh wow! This Italian restaurant in Leiden, the Netherlands, is a must when you are hungry! The service was excellent, (the table cloths were adorable) and the food, oh the food, it was so delicious I almost cried (not really, but you know) and the whole restaurant was just amazing. Bocconi lacks elaborate decoration, but makes up for that by serving quick home-made bites such as ravioli, pizza, and gnocchi.
