From the pictures I could tell they make a good crust and I'm pleased to say I wasn't disappointed. Really good pizza and the crust was the star. The potato and porchetta was a nice pairing, though it could have used a little salt. Started with a ceaser salad as I've been desperate for some veg and it was a pretty small side salad for 12 Euro, which was kinda sad, but good dressing and croutons. I saw the lasagna on other tables and it also looked very good. This restaurant is kinda tucked away off the main street, but it's worth seeking out. Good, friendly service, clean restaurant and bathrooms. A good choice for a more casual dinner. read more

We found Demetra through Yelp! This is a quaint Italian restaurant just south of the City Centre near the Royal Theatre. We didn't have reservations, but they were able to seat us after a short 15 minute wait. The place was very busy. The staff were polite. The menu had some good options. We went with the bruschetta for a starter, the tagliatelle bolognese, and the lasagna. The bruschetta came with four pieces. It was good. The lasagna was my favorite, but the tagliatelle bolognese was very good as well. We wanted some bread so we ordered the focaccia. It was good. The tables are packed closely together so you can get to know your neighbor. This was a pleasant surprise for us to find while wandering around after visiting the Rembrandt House. read more

It's easy to miss (especially at night) since it's down an alleyway and tucked off into a corner but once you see it: you've struck a gem! The servers are very attentive and don't skip a beat to helping if you need a recommendation. We got the ravioli and the gnocchi as our mains. The bread basket (featuring a combination of rye and focaccia) was paired with a nice flavored butter that complimented the entrees well. For drinks we got an aperol spritz and a limoncello spritz--both very strong. We ended the night with a tiramisu served in a cup. If you normally skip on desserts, do yourself the favor and get the tiramisu from here. Absolutely divine. The decor was a mix of modern and roman. Il migliore ristorante Italiano nel Olanda! We were lucky enough to find this lovely restaurant on the first night of our visit to Amsterdam. It is wonderful and completely legitimate cucina Italiana. From the playful name (E)atmosfera, a nod to the Italian word for ambiance, to the cozy decor, warm friendly service, and fantastic food, it is a joy. The wine list is small but a offers lovely selections in all price ranges spanning the entirety of Italy. A very nice Mon Ros Barbera D'Asti started us off well. We started with the Porchetta e finocchio e pecorino and the boccorini which were both fabulous. Two people shared a generously sized pizza di bufala mozzarella and the other two had tagliolini ai frutti di mare which were simply amazing. Great authentic Italian restaurant hidden away near Rembrandt Square. If you plan to have an nighttime outing at he bars near the square, this is a great place to start out your night. The food here is significantly better than many of the nearby pub food establishments. Only disadvantage is that the restaurant is relatively small and is very popular - we had to wait over 1 hour on a Saturday night. Due to the late seating several of the dishes were no longer available by the time we ordered. Even so, with the super busy environment, the waiters were friendly and we were pleased with the overall service level. Food was authentic and the features a nice variety of dishes between seafood, homemade pasta, and pizza. For appetizer, we ordered the seared scallops. We scallops were fresh and had good flavoring. Would recommend this as an appetizer if you would like something lighter. Our main course we ordered the home made seafood pasta. Great presentation and the homemade noodles were very good. Sauce was not too salty and the dish was filled with seafood. We also ordered a filet of the sea bass. The fish was prepared very very well with good texture - very fresh and great flavor. Desert was outstanding and would highly recommend the Tiramasu. Overall, great experience. Have not been to many Italian establishments in Amsterdam, but this has to be up there as one of the best. read more

If you get tired of the standard Amsterdam food, this is a great spot for an Italian meal. The waitstaff were super friendly (and fluent in English). It is a small place so be prepared to wait or just get a reservation. We came late and were seated promptly. We had some wine for 5-6 Euros per glass. This was good stuff. Cute little Italian spot hidden on a side street. I've gone here twice now and love this spot. Both times I went right when they opened at 5:30 without a reservation and was able to get in but they do fill up quickly with pre-made reservations. Highly recommend to book in advance. They didn't have any salads on the menu and I was really craving some veggies to go with my pizza. I asked if there were an options and they were able to whip up a very fresh salad with a delicious cheese on top. It was a great compliment to the pizza. I can't remember if the pizza was called margherita or bufalo mozzerella, but either way it was delicious, authentic and I felt like I was back in Italy. The second time I went I tried a pasta with mushrooms and sausage that was amazing. I believe it was called magliatelle de suga. The pasta tasted fresh and handmade. They also bring out fresh focaccia to enjoy with your meal. Definitely a go to for me whenever I'm in Amsterdam! If you are visiting Amsterdam, this place is a great little gem. My wife and I were on Holiday, and tried several menu items. The Organic Pizza was our starter. The fresh toppings and the light crust were a treat compared to what you get in the U.S. We also ordered the Gniocchi & Ravioli, which were both made from scratch - in house. This restaurant is great if you are craving authentic Italian flavors without the time to fly down to Florence, where most of the staff and ingredients come from. I am very hesitant to give any restaurant five stars, but I'll make an exception for Eatmosfera. The setting was wonderful - a small, Italian cafe with a warm vibe and small lit candles on each table. The entrance is hidden a little bit in an alley and by some ivy, so you feel as though you are waking into a hidden room. The service was excellent and welcoming. We were greeted immediately and offered a table to sit down. Our orders were taken promptly, and 15 or so minutes later we are facing a steaming hot pizza. The food...best pizza I have had in a while if not ever. The crust was hot and crunchy and perfectly wafer thin yet strong enough to hold the toppings. The sausage and cheeses and mushrooms were so delicate and delectable that they almost fell apart when I picked at them. There was a sheen of light olive oil sprinkled on the whole pie that brought the depth of flavor to a whole new level. I could not stop eating it... Dessert was equally as impressive. The "pineapple and coconut gelato carpaccio" was one if the most exciting, delicious, luxurious, and balanced desserts of my time in Amsterdam. Not oppressively sweet, but oh so decadent. Still new to Amsterdam and sorting out what separates good from great... We had a solid Italian meal here. I'm a very picky red sauce eater and quite enjoyed the gnocchi in red sauce. My favorite AMS restaurant. Great neighborhood Italian vibe. I have been multiple times and have always been fully satisfied. Their ravioli borders on the sublime. Portion could be twice the size and I'd eat every bite. Seafood Pasta fantastic. Pizza is among the best in AMS as well. They make a great mixed salad not on the menu, but ask for it. The food and the service were very good. The starter was a special of the day and recommended and we really enjoyed it. The recommendations by our waiter for the food and wine were on the mark and the prices were also reasonable. The pasta is home made and the sauces were very good.
