I searched Cars.com and found a desired vehicle at Bocker Auto Group in Freeport, IL. Unfortunately, the dealer was located an hour and a half drive from my home. I called and asked if the car was still available, and the receptionist politely connected me with the sales manager, Gary. The car was available, and he said he would have it ready for inspection whenever I arrived. Upon my arrival, the lady at the service desk cordially escorted me to meet the sales manager who in turn introduced me to Marvin Allen, his sales representative. Marvin was the most pleasant and personable car salesperson I had ever met. He showed me to the car which was parked directly outside of the showroom, allowed for an extended test-drive, and upon returning to the dealership, patiently described in detail the history and all of the features of the vehicle. And, when it came to including and dealing with my trade-in, a more-than-fair offer was presented and accepted. During my visit, I was also introduced to the owner and interfaced with other sales representatives. In my honest opinion, everyone was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. If you happen to find a used vehicle that you're interested in at Bocker Auto Group and want an unbelievably great purchasing experience, go there and ask for Marvin. Personally, it was well worth the trip, especially while I was driving back home in my newly purchased SUV as a truly satisfied customer. read more

There's still that stigma of being a woman and buying a car that you get treated like you don't know what is going on. Not true with Bocker. They were open & honest. took my car in for a routine oil change and service, week later come to find out my car was 3qt low on oil and my car broke down. had to have it towed to a shop, no mechanical issues prior to my visit. i informed the service manager Robert Rob about this and he proceeded to give me the run around for about 2 weeks, then told me they would not give me a loaner nor would they fix my car, however they would tow it to them, find the problem and then fix it for a "discounted price". i would not reccomend this dealership or service center to my worst enemy. read more

This is actually my first review on Yelp. I just had to iterate the excellent service my wife and I received on our car purchase with Gary Shorter, the Bocker car sales manager that we were working with. We started off our purchase by talking over the phone with Gary. We live 120 miles East in the North Suburbs of Chicago, so we wanted to feel comfortable about the OTD price before making the trip. Gary was very open to the idea, and we actually got to a final price point that we felt comfortable with. (Majority of other dealerships I spoke with didn't even give a second thought and said I had to come into the dealership to discuss any pricing matters. Totally understandable, but that's another reason why I'm writing this positive review about Bocker.) During the entire purchase process I did not feel pressured about a certain price point nor felt like I had to justify myself with anything I was asking for. Also, Gary said he was willing to look into getting me an extra FOB key. Now typically, from what I've experienced, whenever a car salesman says they will look into doing something after the purchase is finalized, I take it with a grain of salt; and rightly so because it'd be sheer luck just to get a hold of my salesman after the purchase. BUT Gary actually reached out to me a few days later to let me know that he was mailing over a FOB key that day! And not only that, the day after he touched base with me again saying that my wife and I left an Ipod and some cash (around $8) in our trade-in (we also traded in our car at Bocker), and that he was going to send those items in the mail! So he basically sent two different mailings to us, one for a requested (not as per purchase contract) FOB key, and another for some personal items that we forgot in our trade-in. Awesome experience with Gary!! So long story short, if you are interested in purchasing a car at Bocker and want a great purchasing experience, please ask for Gary Shorter. I'm sure the other salesmen can be just as great to work with, but he really is a great salesperson and basically is the reason why I'm writing this review. read more

i've had dealings with other car dealerships before and had bad luck. now i'm not sure if its because i bought my car from here or because these guys are REALLY that customer oriented but the service here is amazing. i've had bad luck with my car lately and these guys took that into consideration and i'm happy that i made the trip to purchase my car from here. I have been doing business with the Bocker auto group for almost 20 years. I have bought several vehicles from them and have all of my vehicles there. I am always been treated as a valued customers to them every time I am in there. There service department is excellent. The problem is always fixed the first time. I just purchased a new truck. Got a great deal on it and the salesman and business Mgr. we're very good explaining the paperwork on it on how the price was set up. Brandon Busker explained all the operation of the vehicle to me to the tee. My wife and I just purchased our second used vehicle in six years from Bocker Chevrolet in Freeport. This second vehicle was purchased from Rick Freese, one of their salesmen. Rick was very helpful and very patient, as we had many questions about the vehicle. He was willing to show us a number of vehicle in our price range. Additionally, Rick was very honest and straightforward in answering our questions, as was Mike, their finance manager. Finally, we had also looked at vehicles at a dealership in Rockford. The salesman at the Rockford dealership lied to us on a number of points, as well as trying to pressure us into making a purchase. I have no doubt we made the correct choice in making our second purchase at Bocker. I highly recommend this dealership. read more

My 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier was last serviced on 06/16/14. At that time I discussed with Brad Leverton and Robert Robb regarding the repair to my exhaust system that was installed in January of 2012. I was advised that Bocker would look at my failing and rusting 2 year old exhaust system and warranty out the parts that were in disrepair. I felt that was unacceptable that my whole exhaust system was already needing replacement after only two years. I was originally quoted with a repair price for the labor totaling somewhere around $150.00. I felt that I should not have to pay for any of the labor or the parts as the exhaust system fail prematurely. Service manager Robert Robb went on a long, elaborate story about how my driving habits caused it to rust out, basically refusing to just accept the fact that the parts put on were sub-par. It was then agreed upon by myself and Robert Robb that Bocker would pay for half of the labor for the repair. My total for that service bill was $64.61. Fast forward to 07/21/14 and I found a rattling in my exhaust system. I was advised by a reputable mechanic at Auto Repair Specialists that my exhaust heat shield/cover was loose. I proceeded to take the vehicle back to Bocker. Wayne McCarthy was my service adviser at this time. I was called back on 07/22/14 and advised that the heat shield was rusted through and that it was removed to get rid of the rattling. Here is where more problems start. I was previously advised that all exhaust parts in disrepair would be replaced on 06/16/14. This obviously was not done. Wayne advised that the catalytic converter would need to be replaced. How is this possible? The exhaust system is just over two years old. What brand/type of sub par parts were originally put on this car in January of 2012? Why was the catalytic converter skipped over on 06/16/14 service? Why is Bocker refusing to own up that they tried to just get by with replacing the muffler only on 06/16/14? Wayne advised that the converter would be replaced free of charge, but that I was responsible for the labor totaling somewhere around $100.00. This does not line up with what was agreed upon by Robert Robb on 06/16/14. This part did not all of a sudden fail in a month. The catalytic converter obviously needed replacement on 06/16/14, but that was not done. This is completely unacceptable service and as a customer I deserve better. Wayne McCarthy wanted to completely disassociate himself with the situation and provided little to no help. All the while, providing rude and unkind answers and service. It is time that this specific associate is worked with to improve his demeanor towards customers, moved to a different department, or fired. The only way I will be satisfied with this repair is if the catalytic converter is replaced free of charge and that Bocker pays for all or half of the labor as promised by Robert Robb on 06/16/14. read more

I have never posted a review before, but I feel strongly about this. I purchased a used Cadillac DTS from the Bocker group in Freeport Nov 29th after being assured by the Salesman and one of the Owners that the only thing wrong with the car was that it needed a new Parking Sensor, I went ahead and purchased the car after them giving me some money off for new tires which were down to about 30% of tread life. When I was about to leave the Salesman C Baumann asked if I was comfortable with my purchase, which made me very nervous at that point and I told him so, but he reassured me that the car had been serviced and checked out again & I had nothing to worry about. I should have trusted my instincts, upon having the car checked out at the shop that does all my servicing and repairs in Chicago Highline Automotive in La Grange excellant place. I was informed that I had been slightly screwed, to the tune of $1700.28 in repairs the car needs a new Brake light on the Trunk (only 1/3 light up) New Sensors on the Tires, New lower Control Arms & sway bar on the Front Suspension, and the Brakes are down to about the last 20% of life. All this from a Salesman and Owner that blatantly lied to me when they assured me that the Car had been serviced and checked out and there was nothing wrong with it. I did send the Salesman C Baumann an e-mail informing him of my displeasure with the Dealerships Dishonesty and my disappontment that the felt it necessary to lie to me, but have had no response in over a week IF YOU ARE GOING PURCHASE FROM THESE PEOPLE BE VERY WARY and take what they tell you with a pinch of salt read more
