I just had my carpet replaced in three bedrooms and the entire basement, including the stairway. When I looked at the samples, I was worried about how the big picture would look. However, Doug Bockrath was very helpful in picking out the samples. Also, I wanted a new area rug for my family area along with a matching round one for under my breakfast table adjacent to my family area. They did not have a round one, but their in-house crew was able to take a second rug just like the one I purchased and cut it into a round and seamed it along the entire edge. It looks amazing! Kudos to their in-house people that did this. They were fantastic. Lastly, their crew that laid the carpet did a great job matching the seams. They were very courteous, cleaned all the mess and took it with them. I was also pleased that they moved my big furniture for me. A big shout out to Art, James and Anthony! Unsurpassed level of customer satisfaction. Bockrath honors their pledge of customer satisfaction, without trying to cut corners. Their warranty is unsurpassed, and probably not equaled. We had Karastan Vinyl Planks installed over a concrete subfloor. Though the install was visually perfect, the subfloor under two small sections was not properly leveled. It was noticeable when walked on. Doug Bockrath inspected the install, along with our salesman, and they agreed it did not meet Bockrath's high standards. They sent a new team out, Joe and his grandson, and they removed the entire floor, properly leveled problem areas, and installed new flooring. It is perfect. Repairing or replacing small sections of plank is very problematic, and therefore the entire floor was removed and replaced. Two other residents in our condo recently had new plank flooring installed. One by Bockrath and one by a small independent. The one that used Bockrath was thrilled, and commented on how much time, Brian her installer spent leveling the subfloor. The other resident, using a small independent, with planks from Lowes, was so upset after looking at the Bockrath installations, she mentioned wanting to rip her new floors out. I so wanted to give this local carpet store a positive review. I did nun fact give them multiple opportunities to earn one, but alas, I simply can not. We ordered a $4k custom bound rug for our living room. It was supposed to be appropriate for our needs. Within one month it was coming apart. Much to my surprise and approval, they offered to replace the carpet with a more durable carpet - stating that the wool carpet we chose was not appropriate for our small dogs. OK, but at least they did the right thing. Well, I waited almost 2 months for the second rug - was told it would be done in two weeks and when I called, I was given the EXACT SAME EXCUSE and told it would be done in two weeks - like they forgot they told me the same thing the last time I called. Unfortunately, but the time it was done, I was south for winter. Next, we purchased some runners. Great. The first day the binding was coming off. I took them in and they had them rebound within a week. Great, nice service. However, a couple months later, the binding was giving way again. No Way - I thought! I called and they did hand bind them yet again. They delivered them to my husband while I was away and much to my dismay when I returned home, the binding was done in a different color than what we ordered. *sigh*. I've been in touch to see if they would correct it, but no response. Disappointing to say the very least. Even more dismaying is that my experience with big box stores is better than the local guy.
