This one Saturday afternoon with my family what would have been my simple in & out in less than 30 minutes turned into a full on shopping marathon. I normally would not have mind but now I have a game changer, a 2 month old son I breastfeed. I didn't feel as comfortable in this area whipping out the milk goods, so I decided I would just head back to the car and nurse him while my family still shopped. I'm strolling my way back to our car when I noticed the woman's restroom and decided to get a diaper change in first. At first I was waiting in the line for the family restroom but that was taking far too long, so I ventured into the woman's room when that's when it happened.. the aaaaahhh moment for breast feeding moms everywhere, I present to you the Mothers Lounge. It's not hard to miss , as soon as you enter the woman's restroom doors you'll see to the right two frosted glass panels and beyond those panels you will find lounge chairs and couches to make yourself more than comfortable to nurse your child. I set up shop and we where good to go, I did however get a stare or two because I wasn't completely covered up but I was there for what the room was intended for and they where there to rest and talk on their cell phones.

I really enjoyed the vibes and even though I have mobility issues with ground work I felt challenged without feeling embarrassed. This is truly a safe space for movement and I will be back. Plenty of parking for a morning-weekend class. I may be biased when I say Ally is the best person to start your Saturday morning with.

People's Yoga in Monterey Park (near ELAC) exceeds my wildest dreams. This single studio with wooden-floors and plants is homey and yet located on the second floor of a plaza and across from the metro station (Atlantic stop). It's truly a delight - not to mention the one and only Latina-owned yoga studio is the area (if not LA?). My favorite class is "Body Soft" on Thursday nights at 7pm with Diane. This class is for those that want to ease into yoga (a.k.a. Beginners) or those who need to chill from a long work week. But...please don't meditate into sleep. Yes, rarely does snorting ensue. On-site parking is available and the studio provides all the equipment and even water, just bring your own water bottle. Pre-registration is recommended as the studio only accommodates so many people. If the single class price is steep for your budget, check out their packages as they offer a built-in discount. Also, first timers can try out a monthly on a discount. For the yogis or yogis in training, you may be interested in their training program. Personally, I'm not a fan of virtual movement classes because I prefer to be in-person, but for those on a shoe string budget that may an option. Either way, I LOVE People's Yoga! Shout out to Leah and Lauren, co-founders, Latina mama business owners, and yoga instructors. Their dream to open this brick and mortar became a reality years ago and has been going strong for years.
