My experience wasn't that bad. Pros: - Chris, the tattoo artist, seemed very knowledgeable: I asked him questions about caring for my piercings (which I didn't get at this store) and his advice was helpful - He also claimed to be a perfectionist which, my my standards, is amazing. The last thing I'd like is a half-assed tattoo because my artist didn't give a crap. - If anything occurred, Alex said that I could touch up my tattoo within the next year (free of charge). Cons: - I could have probably gotten my tattoo for a lot cheaper if I shopped around (my friend told me that his tattoo artist charges half of what I paid here). Overall, I'd say that I was pretty satisfied with the service I got. The girl at the front desk was helpful & nice (not this "Rodney" character that the last two reviews mentioned- maybe I was lucky & stopped by at a good time). Be warned. I do not find it fair to critique or criticize the skill of the artists (since there has been lots of turnover), but the service and treatment given by this shop's owner is shameful at best. We have visited this shop several times over the years, and have noticed the constant disarray of management. The associate attending the "front desk"--if you can call it that--was always the owner's son, who is constantly spoken down to by his father, Rodney. Potential walk-in cients asking general questions are responded with degredation and attitude if they are unlucky enough to be asking such questions to the owner. If we hadn't been lucky to get an amazing and courteous artist the first time we visted (Nelson), I probably would have never gone back. My wife and I walked in to get a consult about a cover up on my wife's hand. Nelson, the artist we wanted was busy with appointments. The shop owner, Rodney, noticed us and said he could do the tattoo that very night. We weren't expecting to get the tattoo right away, but him being the shop owner and lead artist, we thought we were lucky for this opportunity. What we got was a nightmare full of harassment instead. To keep this from getting far too descriptive and out of hand, we weren't happy with the cover up done by Rodney. My wife's hand was scarred because Rodney decided to christen his new rotary tattoo machine on my wife. The outline he did with the machine left a raised scar. The design was all swollen and didn't look quite right, but we were told to let it heal. We were offered the customary free touch up should there be issues with the tattoo healing. When we returned to the shop the week after, the owner refused to touch up the tattoo. Instead, his response to our dissatisfaction with his work was to insult my wife in front of other clients, and call her horrible names that I will not mention here. That was our last visit to the shop. One may think that this may have been an extraordinary case, but our previous observations at the shop should have clued us in to an experience like this. if you're going to get something pierced, take a short little drive north to Art Addictions and miss this place completely. I had a piercing done over 15yrs ago and lost the earring. The bead was way too small for me to put in. I went to Body & Soul to purchase a new earing and asked the piercer for assistance with putting the bead back in. He told me "no, this earring is too small. I can't, you need to get a bigger one." to which I replied "no, i was pierced with this size, it fits perfectly and I would like to simply replace what i had since it's the perfect size." he then continues to simply say "no, i can't do it, you have to go bigger. These ones are just way too small" so I say "why would they make them this size if they're too small?" he just shook his head then sat back down at his laptop and continues playing on YouTube. So very unprofessional. He's some punk kid that thinks he knows everything. Don't bother with this place. read more

I've gotten 12/13 tattoos done here, most by the same guy (Gord). The atmosphere inside is hard to explain - basically if you are "new" to the world of ink, you may face some condescending behavior and high prices. The more frequently you go, the better the prices get. What I paid for my first tattoo was way higher than what I paid for my 8th, my 8th one being significantly larger. When I went for my last tattoo it had been awhile and the price was back up again. As some have mentioned, Rodney can be rude but the most I ever experienced was brisk-ness. Gord is a great tattoo artist, a perfectionist and a fantastic designer when you have a vision you need help putting into an image. It's unfortunate that people have had to deal with an unfriendly reception as it really colours the entire experience. The artists continue to do good work (from my experiences) but as it is with everything else - go in and see what kind of vibe you get before you decide to lay down the cash. read more

Well my experience happened a ten years ago but it was a mix of good and bad. So my very first experience at b&s was rather fast and smooth. I booked my appointment and i got lucky because there was a younger guy from BC who was temporarily there seeing if he want to work there. He did my tattoo perfectly perfect lines, shading and he wasnt pressing into my skin to draw blood. The tattoo was cheap around 90$. (He dosn't work there anymore) My second experience wasn't what i expected. So a few months later I go back in and book another tattoo session. I wait at there gate for like 20-30 mins waiting to be quoted on a price for a bicep tattoo. I get quoted for 380$ and that was it there was a young girl working the desk and i remember a very dismissive feeling of being judged of the art i picked. I was young and i was too excited of getting a tattoo so i just paid IN FULL for my appointment a month later. So i show up to my appointment like 25 minutes early so im on time. I go to there gate and the guy i was going to do my session with isnt there. So i wait an hour and then owned shows up on his harley just pouring of arrogance and ego. (Im being judgemental) it was like the douchest hollywood scene youve ever seen. I remember thinking what the hell was that. Anyways.. So ive been waiting close to an hour and a half and then Rodney asks me as ive been standing there for 30 minutes " What do you need " i said that i was waiting for Jeremy and like 45 seconds after that i hear in the behind the gate " fuck it. Ill fucking do it" so he rushs me up stairs. So here's where everything goes wrong. He starts my tattoo and hes making comments that its " kinda looks like hes ready to ahh suck some" and i interrupt as hes talking and say its the design of the artist that's how it is. What ever we continue and i notice every pass hes pressing way harder into my arm then before. Were doing the outline so somewhere mid way he suggests that we finish this in another session because i was "over bleeding". I've had arm sleeves and large back tattos and they were done by great artists and looking back at this moment i should have stoped mid way and left with it half done. We finish up and i rebook another hour with rodney 2 weeks later the outline was done. So now color.. He starts with some grey shading and. I mention to him that he missed a few outlines and i show him where. He takes the shading grey with water dosnt even dip for BLACK and does the line with the grey watered ink the line didnt even show up..i was in panic mode... I said " i dont think that looks right" he goes over it again and leaves this massive out of place grey shading blob. He dosnt say anything. And moves on to red. He pressed so hard into my skin that the red ink didnt even stay. It scabed so thick it removed the red ink in patchs.... The ditch didnt even have red after it healed. Brutal brutal brutal. I had to rebook again due to over bleeding.. The last session i booked i didnt even go back for. Cut my losses and had a mistake my arm for ten years. I resently got a full sleeve to covered Rodneys inexperience and lack of professionalism. I think he personally buys "his" equipment from ebay where anyone can buy a gun. The atmosphere in Body and Soul greed and arrogance. This shop is a perfect example of a lazy greedy tattoo shop. Stay away... stay away.. Theres plenty of good shops to go to just research and always do a consultation you'll get better results. Now as you read this there are good things and good artists that work there but its a shame that any of the good artists there think "this is it for me" and stay in that dump for any longer then they need to. The old mentality of being arrogant as a tattoo shop is a thing of the past. Shape up or ship out. Had an extremely unpleasant experience here - went in for a nose piercing for both myself and a friend and for the price of $50 each (which is expensive already considering this was not including the price of the PHYSICAL piercing, only the actual labour), and the staff was immensely unprofessional. There was no pre-cleaning done, the piercer just went straight in with no warning, and as soon as it was done he asked us for the money and waited for us to leave. There was no basic courtesy given to us asking if we had any questions about the piercing, forget cleaning advice/piercing care. The piercer's attitude was very rushed as if he was only interested in having us in and out and getting paid. When I was 19 years old I went here for a small text tattoo. I had the text printed out on a piece of paper and brought it in. Rodney re-printed the text and made a minor spelling error which was hard to catch. Considering I had given him it correctly written, I never expected him to make a typo. SERVICE PERFORMED: I went in for a nose piercing (needle). My friend for her tragus (needle) EXPERIENCE: When you first walk in, all employees are in the back talking and not caring that (potential) clients walks through. I was acknowledged once I called back to someone. The "receptionist" came out and I said what I was there for, he just turned and walked to the back... He got Chris. The receptionist was told to go back to the front where he watched baseball on the computer. After I told Chris what I had wanted done, he gave both my friend and I the release/consent form to fill out... WITHOUT CHECKING ID. I am of age, but that was sketchy to me, because my friend looks like a teenager. Once in the chairs I was being pierced by Chris and my friend by Rodney, Chris' father (maybe the owner). The service of the nose ring went smoothly and minimal pain. Chris dotted/pierced exactly where I wanted. I was able to adjust my seating. Once pierced he cleaned with some anti-bacterial soap combined with tea tree oil. I had bleeding, but I tend to bleed with all piercings- nothing unusual for me. He was timely with the needle and placing the jewelry. My friend who got the tragus service went a little differently. First off the guy almost pierced with a different jewelry than she requested. I spoke up, he switched. He put the dot, however he did not let her see where it was placed. Than he covered the needle with what looked like Vaseline. He did not tell her when he was going to pierce he just said relax. *bam* needle in the tragus. I was watching and it seemed he got stuck/ paused for a second while the needle was pushing through. Putting the jewelry in went fine. However, once it was complete he DID NOT CLEAN THE AREA! My friend asked him to, and he says "no, you're good". The girl had blood. PRESENTATION: When you first walk in you see basic 'artwork' that look more like doodles on the walls. Smaller showcase areas for jewelry. The lighting was bright. Once you get into the back for a service, it's not as clean or organized. Things look scattered and misplaced. The garbage disposal was open, which, was filled to the top (gross). There are only two seats which are fairly close to one another. The seats where services are performed are not private- anyone who stands at the front desk can see you- there are no curtains or walls for discretion. Hope this helps. I've had 11 tattoos and 2 piercings done at Body and Soul since 2007: And I was 41 when I got my first one. I am a mother of 3 and I must be completely sure that the place I go to for these is absolutely clean and that the staff know what they are doing because I have my family's health as well as my own to think of. I came to this place all the way from Toronto because my brother and sister-in-law go here and would not go anywhere else. My piercings were tragus and navel. I've always had a good experience - even with the owner Rodney, who is actually the best Tattoo artist and piercer on the premises; but YES he does have an abrupt and serious manner. And he can be very slow to set up his station to tattoo. But he has stayed late to finish large custom tattoos twice for me. All the tattoo artists change gloves constantly throughout the tattoo and use LOTS of disinfectant and clean papertowels during the tattoo. AND I have NEVER, EVER had any problems with excessive bleeding, scabbing or any infections whatsoever. And he has been in business for a looonnngg time at the same location. In the last couple of years he has struggled with some staffing changes and some renos but he is working hard to fix these while staying open to provide services and satisfy the regular Board of Health checks ...not easy to do. I find the prices are "fair market value". Keep in mind: You get what you pay for: A BAD tattoo lasts forever just like a good one does! And personally, I don't need great customer service - c'mon guys, it s a TATTOO shop for goodness sake, not a chi-chi store on Rodeo Drive ! I have over 15 tattoos (some flash, some custom, some cover ups) and have had over 20 body piercings. I've been to body and soul for a few from both categories, each time wanting to support a local Brampton business vs heading to Toronto so I've given this shop the benefit of the doubt many times. Each time they disappoint worse than the last and I'm shocked this place is still in business. The kid that runs the front of the shop is one of the biggest douche bags I've met in my life. When going there for a piercing or tattoo this punk has absolutely no customer service. I get it, you're too cool for school and have an attitude. But when you're in the business of making money by making people feel like they're in a positive environment and encouraging people to come back to your shop, the piss poor attitude doesn't work and only costs $$$. The two tattoos I've had here, I got covered up within a year. I got a flower on my shoulder which was supposed to be symmetrical but was crooked after getting the tattoo (was symmetrical when the stencil went on) and for a year I had to tell people it was intentionally crooked and Tim Burton style. I also got initials on my wrist which the letters were different sizes after it was done. You may see this shop and want to head in because of the location, but run the other way. There are many other places to get tattooed in Brampton other than this absolutely abysmal shop which I am floored is still open. Body and soul - you can do better! When looking on Facebook there are so many 5 star reviews... These are obviously ghost accounts or friends because every single person I speak to about this shop shares my sentiments. My experience at Body&Soul began with a large tattoo that was started by an artist that I knew personally. The tattoo was executed well and service was good, probably because I knew the artist. When I cam back to get more work done, I found out that my artist had left the shop. The owner (Rodney) agreed to do a small poem on my ribs for $100 and it was done that day i walked in. I then paid $400 for the background and some touchups to my large tattoo that was a work in progress. I came in for my appointment and the entire appointment, he was interrupted and did at least 4 piercings while in the middle of my work. The shop is completely disorganized. He apologized to me and said that I could come in on a Monday, even though the shop was closed. I have a very busy schedule and I was happy about this, I thought if the shop was closed then there would be no way he could be interrupted and the work would finally be completed. So I came in on the Monday when the shop was closed and he had to walk his dog numerous times during the time i was there. He started the work and drew the background free hand and then asked me to let it heal and then i could come back again to finish it. I was not happy with this as I thought coming in when the shop was closed would ensure that it was completed and now I had to walk around with a tattoo that looks like shit, but i sucked it up because it was promised to be finished the next time I came in. During this appointment, he didn't seem to realize that he was wearing pants that had a huge hole in the crotch and parts of is genitals were sticking out, like i get it, its supposed to be your day off, but common! So the tattoo healed up and I called the shop and asked to speak to Rodney, he either wasn't there and when I did get in touch with him, he said he wasn't in front of the appointment book, so I would have to call him back later. It went on like this for weeks where I called him every week end he just wouldn't open the appointment book and schedule me to finish the tattoo. Then my calls started being ignored, I left messages and other artists at the shop took messages and my calls were never returned. The tattoo was started in early January. Last week, I called the shop and his rude punk of son picked up the phone and when i asked to speak to Rodney, he told me he didn't know when he would be back and I'm like you don't know where the owner of the shop is or when he will be back, thats non sense. I also said it is completely fucked up that i paid him $400 and he has hardly completed any work on the tattoo and is treating customers like this. At this point, i knew i couldn't trust him to put anything else on my skin and i would have to suck it up that i lost $400. My bf called the shop a couple days ago and ended up talking to Rodney's son and he said that Rodney was on vacation and he would be back next week. I do not recommend this shop to anyone. I love ink and it is bone of my greatest pleasures and after this experience, I am completely frustrated with this tattoo and anxious about having it screwed up more. I am now in search of a new artist and have to suck it up that I'm going to have to pay a new artist the same amount or more to fix what he screwed up and didn't finish. read more

They were great! very friendly he joked around with us. The other artist that was there was also very friendly and helpful. He had quoted a price and he ended up dropping it down when we were finished. He made sure we were comfortable & okay. This place is horrible. I wanted to get a tattoo for my 15th birthday so obviously I needed a parents consent, so i went in and told them i wanted to get a very small tattoo ( didn't even take more than 5 minutes to do btw ) and that my mother will sign the papers. The shop owners son was working the front desk and he told me that i could sign the papers now and put in a deposit of $40 and come back in 2 hours because there was no one there to do a tattoo at the moment. So my mother signed all the papers and we payed the deposit and left. My mom was busy that afternoon so she just dropped me off at the shop since she had already signed the papers and everything so she didn't need to be there, but when i went in for my tattoo the guy at the front desk told me i didn't make an appointment and i told him that he had just told me to come back after 2 hours and he started to be rude towards me so i asked him to make an appointment for me for tomorrow. He made the appointment and before i left i asked him if my mom needed to come back again to sign the papers tomorrow and he said no we already have them signed so she doesn't need to. The next day i called in an hour ahead of my appointment time to confirm it and a girl picked up, she was very nice , unlike the other guy, i asked her if someone with be positively free to do it or else call me in half an hour to reschedule because i live really far away from the shop. No one called after so i assumed someone was free to do the tattoo but once again when i arrived the same guy at the front desk from the day before asked me to wait a while because the owner of the shop, Rodney, was the only one available that day to do the tattoo but he had left to walk his dog ( like come on, who walks their dog in the middle of work ? ). So i waited for about an hour and 45 minutes before Rodney finally came. So then they asked for my ID and i showed it to them and they said i needed a parents consent since i wasn't 18 yet and i told them my mom already signed the papers and that the guy at the front desk said she didn't need to sign them again, but then the guy said he had lost the papers so i had to call my mom in once again to sign the papers and she took an hour to come since we live very far away. By then Rodney was busy again but he said he would do my tattoo as soon as he was done the one he was working on so i paid for my tattoo ( which was very pricy ) and me and my mom waited 2 more hours. After Rodney was done the other customers tattoo he told us to come back tomorrow morning because it was almost closing time and my mom started yelling at him because she had made 3 trips to them over a very small tattoo already and Rodney then agreed to do it and he did a very poor job on it ,he didn't give me a break in between or anything and just kept at it and since i was young it hurt very much, and then he sent me home without any tips of after care or anything. Even now the tattoo sticks up over the skin and the ' black ' ink turned light navy blue in only just a year. Many phone calls and travels to the store with promises of "I'll call you tomorrow" "I forgot it, and I'll e-mail it tonight" I still have not received 1 phone call or e-mail. I ended up going to another tattoo parlor in Toronto. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend going here at all unless you want a run around. I give 5 stars because to me the most important thing about getting a tattoo aside from the artist skills, is the cleanliness and the sanitary practices the shop uses. I can honestly say that Body and soul takes all measures to ensure your health and safety in terms of your tattoo. Yeah you might pay a higher price then other crappy ass tattoo shops, but in the end you get what you pay for. I have gotten 6 tattoos and all are perfect and beyond my expectations, with no complications. I accidentally scratch a piece of my scab and it messed up my tattoo and Rodney had no problem fixing it for me free of charge. They encourage you to come back if you have any problems. I did a queen and my did king and he had to fix a previous tattoo he got from a cheaper place, the tattoo was not done properly and Rodney was able to fix it and it looks sooo much better thanks Rodney read more

If you are going for a piercing this is the place. The piercer chris was very nice and a perfectionist. If my piercing didn't heal straight (inverse navel) or if anything happened to it he told me to come back and he will re do it for free. If you are going for a piercing this is the place DO NO GO TO ART ADDICTIONS even though they are close by they have a very bad habit of piercing people crooked and saying its just "swelling" and not even caring. Niki (art addiction) also has a bad attitude. When looking for a tattoo Nelson is one of the best just AVOID getting a tattoo from Body & Soul's owner. Wouldn't trust this place with your tattoos! I went there 7 weeks ago and put a down payment for Rodney the owner to sketch me out a tattoo, I gave him money, and all my information and told him what I wanted. Also asked if he thinks it would be a problem to put something together within 2 weeks, his reply was "I will have something for you next week" it's been 7 weeks I haven't seen a sketch or heard from him. I called there at least 7 times asking if he had something and he keeps telling me "no I'll have it next week, what's your information again" not once has he apologized or said he's having trouble putting a sketch together. This man is totally unprofessional, rude, none reliable and acts as he doesn't give a f***. I have called them last week and asked for my deposit back and still didn't hear back. Honestly, there are a lot of great tattoo shops around this area, but Body and Soul is not one of them, doesn't surprise me considering the owner Rodney is an ass! I also have gone there in person but of course the doors were closed even though according to the hours posted on the window they should have been open! When I actually arrived at the time my appointment was set for the artist that was suppose to do my tattoo was half an hour late. I was pissed and so was my mother; when she started to tell the owner how upset she was, he started yelling at her. You call that customer service? Worst experience at a tattoo shop in my life. I had heard that Exquizeet was shit, but in all honestly I had a steady tattoo artist there who cared about what she did. I paid up front for a tattoo of a rose that came off the wall art. I was told I would get a pixie dust background included with the colored rose. We started at the beginning of July and went in at the least 7 times. I was worked on twice out of the seven times. Every time I went in for my appointment I was waiting at the least 2 hours to see the artist. One of the times he tattooed me he was obviously under the influence of something. Me and my girlfriend were there until 12 in the morning one time and he had just started working on us, even though our appointment had been hours before. When we tried to phone in an appointment to finish our tattoos (which were already paid for), the owners son answered rudely and blatantly told us we would have to come in to book the appointment. after explaining that the tattoo was started and paid for and that I was coming from a long way, he basically said too bad and hung up on me. I finally went to another shop a month ago and paid to have my tattoo finished. It costed me double the money to get a simple tattoo done not to mention 7 months. Overall very un professional, I would not recommend anyone goes there. read more
