Website is very classy and professional--not so the actual place of business, less than attractive, typical cheap business ess office replete with fluorescent light fixtures, ugly signs, and a large screen tv playing a talk show, plus a radio playing some trendy horrible music a few feet away. And several people were talking somewhere. They put me in these boot leg compression contraptions and a vest thing, not comfortable and it only got worse. The machine that runs the whole outfit makes alot of noise as well. I asked them to turn the tv off, which was done, and later just before my massage to turn the radio off which was in the hallway next to room I was put in, but my masseuse said they couldn't. I asked if she could at least shut the door and said she could close it a little, but it had to remain open. Apparently this place is all about the employees daily experiences while working and not the clients. Massage was good, a bit too fast, but I will never return or recommend this business as it was overall not a good experience. Since January of this year I've had my own regular Massage place in Livermore for Sports Massage but recently came to Body Fix during a trip with my Husband and got a Groupon for the both of us and really glad I did. Where I am usually very wary of Groupon deals for such things both my Husband and I were really pleased with the treatment we got. I opted for the Deep Tissue and for him the Orthopedic which cost a little extra. Both Massages were great, my Husband even said the best he's had since his regular one 5 years ago before we moved to California. My Deep Tissue was due to be 1hr but ended up being around 1 hr 10 minutes as I was taken in a little early and my masseuse, who's name I can't recall did a thorough job at loosening the tight Muscles in my Back and Neck. I carry a lot of tension there from lifting heavy weights and as I'm also a long distance Runner my regular massage is concentrated on the Quads and Glutes so the upper body area doesn't get as much attention t should. Having around 40 minutes concentrated on just that felt so good afterwards. The location is a little different to your usual Massage Parlors, it looks as thought it's in an old converted apartment building yet inside is nice and located on the top floor. If and when I find myself back in Sacramento with an hour or two free I'll be sure to try get another appointment, otherwise it's sadly a little for to go. read more

I was looking for a massage place that focuses more on issues rather then relaxation and I stumbled upon this place on Groupon. When I called in, Christie (I believe that is her name) asked me the issues that I am experience to best choose someone. I was paired with Beth and she is great! I have been having back/hip issues since running more rigorously this past eight months and I have been trying to rehab my hip. From the start, she looked at my stance and saw that my pelvis was tilted and not in a neutral position which strains my lower back and hip. Then she focused on my lower back and back, which left my back really sore but feeling really good. She was really informative and always explained everything she did and why she was doing what she was doing. She also recommended some stretches that I will start incorporating into my work out routine. I made another appointment to see Beth and hopefully she'll tell me that my muscles are slightly looser then before and hopefully over time, my hip will hurt less and less when running and lifting. read more

I have been going to Jon @ Bodyfix on and off for something like seven years...since the day he put those gifted hands on me during a work-sponsored chair massage. I'm a bit of a massage junkie. I love a good deal so I will admit that sometimes when people buy me gift certificates to spas or I find an impossibly good deal to try out a new place I will venture away. But everytime I do I can't even compare the level skill that I encounter to Jon's. Bodyfix as a whole is geared to therapeutic massage. If you want the soft rub all over, day spa kind of massage this is not that type of place. If you are like me and have certain areas of tension that you want truly improved- then go see Jon. (Although I haven't tried her out-- my sister says Kym is fabulous and Eric was good too). I will also add that I require deep tissue and Jon never fails to deliver. It has been many years since I have had such a great and healing massage. I explained an injury that I had and asked for that to be worked on and Ashlee was fantastic she made me feel like she was moving back into place muscles and ligaments that I didn't know were out of alignment . She concentrated exactly where my pain was and helped me so much. She even used a topical analgesic on my injury. I purchased this as a groupon and I will be back, groupon or not. 2 Month UPDATE: Massage #2 at Body Fix and still happy and satisfied as all hell.... Still an amazingly kiCk Ass SUPER deep tissue massage with massive pressure point releases..... Roxanna my original masseuse has since left Body Fix and so this go round was with the lovely Miss Vanessa who schooled with Roxanna which was an added bonus as I loved Roxanna's ways...... HERE"S what I LOVE: ~ REPORTING OFF: Well, that's what we call it in the medical field and I would learn that Roxanna, knowing that I was coming back for a future appointment with her and she would no longer be there, took the time to debrief Vanessa on my body, it's jacked up, uber knotted up and tight as all get out areas that I would want focus and time spent on...... For me: My neck, traps, scapular and sub-scapular area and she found a knot sent from the bowels of hell in my left lower waist/flank area that was painful... HOWEVER it's key to mention here that it was painful because I put it there unknowingly via my exercise and physical activity routine... ~ LOVED, loved and well yes..... Totally loved and appreciated this as it saved me time, energy and the frustration of having to debrief Vanessa; she was ready to roll when I presented to my appointment and didn't disappoint.... The tension & knots had to go... It was incredibility painful as she worked it out but knowing they all had to go I sucked it up, breathed deeply and today; the day after I feel fantastic.. Yes I'm sore and tender in the areas but that is to be expected.. AND it is what I wanted and clearly requested...... SO if your new to deep tissue massage or inexperienced know that leaving a massage after having a therapist take your body down to the mat and work that knotted up muscle mass over may or may not be all warm and fuzzy.... ~ STRENGTH: I am still rather amazed at how strong her hands and body are... She's got a petite frame but is solid and went even deeper into my tissues than Roxanna did and Roxanna went super deep........ So if your one of those that leaves a massage thinking and feeling like a feather just dusted your body; I say give Vanessa a try but be prepared as she delivers whatever you order... AND NOW A NOTE: I realized after my massage this past Sunday that each masseuse is different. When Vanessa asked me if I had any "specific areas" I wanted focused on and I responded with my traps,scapular area and back AND feet that what she meant was that those were the only areas she would be working..... Now I don't have an issue with that as those areas alone were beyond knotted & tight and took the entire 1 hour massage time frame, BUT as a forewarning to others this is the area where clear precise communication will serve you well. Okay, so first impression wasn't the best. But I'm glad I held faith and experienced it to the end! Body Fix is located in a plain ole', kind of dingy looking medical building. Finding the office itself requires a bit of reading, as there is only one directory in the middle of the building. The office of Body Fix itself was, again, dingy. It was warmly lit, but something about the walls made the place look dated. The receptionist was kind of stand-offish at first. When I went into the massage room itself, it looked a little worn (for example, the headrest). I get that they could be going for a minimalistic look, but for my first time there, I had my doubts. However, the massage itself was excellent. I had Eric as my masseuse. I told him my problem areas (neck/upper back), and he proceeded to tell me what muscles he was going to target and why. He then offered me some essential oils and explained what products he might be using. At times, I felt like Eric was massaging a little too hard, but I know sometimes that's what it takes. I know from prior experience that I have a lot of knots in those muscles; Eric managed to work the majority of them out! He made sure to try his best to really loosen up each knot he encountered. In the end, my neck and upper back were a little sore, but much of the neck pain I had been experiencing in the month leading up to the appointment was gone! I had gone from barely being able to turn my head to nearly full, fluid motion. The only downside I really had was that he did get some oil in my hair (I know, it happens), and that he didn't wipe off the oils on my back at the end of the massage (I don't know if that's standard or not). I have another appointment to schedule not too far off in the future. I'm hoping my next experience will be just as good as my first! read more

Got a groupon for this place so we had to try it. As previous reviewer mentioned, 1st impression of the building and the office aren't wonderful, but the massage therapists are good. If you enter in the front, take the stairs up, and the office is in the corner behind you. The office is small, furniture dated and receptionist seemed to have a hard time multi-tasking. She was on the phone for a while before she tended to us. Got along well with my therapist though who was able to work on my problem areas and offered stretches to help. I was a little sore after, but I figure it's my body healing. We got Deep Tissue massages. My husband wanted more pressure from his therapist, so not sure if we'll go back or not. read more

I have been going to Body Fix Therapies since around 2006 and I have been extremely happy with them. The nice thing about Body Fix is that they focus on therapeutic massage so that you don't just feel good, but that they rehabilitate the areas that need attention. Then after the massage they will provide you with things that you can do at home or during the day to strengthen your weak areas. I have gone to other companies where they just give you a full body massage, but they don't focus on specific areas. That's where Body Fix is different. On the comfort side of things, you can request scents to be placed on the head rest, which is nice. I personally get stuffed up when I am on my stomach, so this completely alleviates that so that I can enjoy the massage. Also, they have soothing music and dimmable lights to make it a comfortable experience. As for the office, they just moved into a new facility on Butano & Watt. It's designed very well and they are staffed to handle several clients at once. We're always warmly welcomed in the front office. Outside of Kym, I also use Monique quite a bit as well and she does a fabulous job. When I have come in during my normal days, I have also had massages from Jon and Bonnie who were great. My wife loves Naomi, but I haven't had a massage from her before. Anyhow, you really can't go wrong with any of the therapists... and there are more than that who I haven't even used yet. I just wanted to say this was my first time and first place. Got the groupon and figured id give a try. The best part is I still felt like home even though I was being directed as my first time I did not know what to really do.. :) But my experience here was amazing Maria Helped me right when I walked into the door. I also got everything set and stone and I probably went to sleep a few times but kept reminding my self I am not at home haha.. I do have to say that my back feels so much better I am going back for more because I need some neck and shoulder area's to be worked on a lot.. I would recommend this place for sure.. I had forgotten why I stopped working with these folks a few years ago until I started a membership up with them again. In just 4 weeks I had been put with someone who was quitting that day; the second appointment I was charged, as though I was not a member, then was told I was having an appointment with a therapist and it turned out not to be that person but someone that I had already tried out, and finally, I had an appointment on Christmas Eve which they called to confirm with me two different times only to have the therapist cancel on me a half an hour before my appointment which I did not learn until I pulled into the parking lot and could check my messages! It's disorganized, I dealt with a different person every time I called, including when I had to call to find out why I was charged for a session I shouldn't have been. I had even referred two people, one who will now not be utilizing their services either. It is unfortunate, because I liked two of the therapists. However, I don't have the time in life to be advocating for myself constantly with a service that is supposed to be helping me get relief from my chronic pain not increase it! read more

This is a long overdue review. I was going here the beginning of 2014 and was seen by Eric. He was fantastic and had techniques, skills and ability to relieve knots and back pain that I have not had other massage therapist be able to relieve. When I was seeing Eric regularly, my body felt great. I am a fan of Eric, sadly he is no longer there and I am wondering where he is at..as I stopped getting massages for a year or so. I will be trying another massage therapist...so we shall see. Yes, the medical building is decades old but not dingy and yes first time customers should allow the time to fill out their paperwork and yes some massages aren't 60 minutes. What I may get in let's say 55 minutes is better than 90 minutes elsewhere. The expertise and professionalism is out of this world. I refer my friends to this business repeatedly because I want others to experience the talent of these therapists. I have gone to other massage locations for years and this business is far superior. Excellent, but different, massage therapy from Dennis. He gets to the root of any problem I have. I had pain in hips and difficulty walking and,after only 1 hour of work, I walked 3/4 of a mile easily (I don't like to walk). I also came to him with upper back and some right side problems from radiation. No matter how bad I feel walking in, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the world when I leave. This is not a regular 'just relax' massage - it is therapeutic, so some times you have to hold a position while he works out specific muscle groups. If you have a body mechanics problem, Dennis can probably fix it! I've sent my son there and don't hesitate to recommend him to anyone I feel can benefit. read more

I wish I had a similar experience as the other Yelpers here. My wife bought me an hour session here for Father's Day. The massage started off decent, but 15 minutes in my therapist (Shannon) left the room stating she needed to get some hot towels. Nearly 20 minutes past (there was a clock in the room), and she never returned! I got up and left the room frustrated. The front desk couldn't even locate Shannon and had no idea where she went or why she up and left. Very frustrating (not how you should feel after a massage), and all I was told is that they can finish the remaining 25 minutes of my massage or I can call Groupon to get my money back. After I wrote review below, the owner emailed me and apologized and said she'd send my mother a gift certificate for a massage that actually lasts the time advertised. I responded to her Yelp email on 6/17/14 and gave her my mother's address, and got no answer back. Then followed up on 6/19/14 and 7/2/14 and still never got a reply. And my mother STILL hasn't received the promised certificate. WHAT A JOKE! Don't purchase a massage or Groupon to here, you won't actually get 60 minutes. This place is deceptive, unless they don't know how to tell time. I can see from others' reviews that they've done the same thing to them. They advertise that you'll get a massage for 60 minutes, but they consider the time it takes you to fill out their paperwork as part of the 60. I bought a massage for my mom for Mother's day (she's never had one before) and they took her back at 3:15pm and she was all done and dressed at 4:01 pm. Between the time it took her to walk back and undress, she got like a 40 minute massage, maximum. After I asked the man at the front why her massage got cut short, he first shrugged, then said it's because they begin massages right on the hour. I think he just made that up. I asked if this was so why they didn't tell my mom to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out the paperwork when we made the appointment. He responded, "oh, she didn't tell you to arrive early?" Such a cop-out explanation. I also called the number on the Groupon and I left a voicemail but never had my call returned. So why advertise on Groupon if you're not going to deliver on what you've sold? Why advertise a "60-minute orthopedic massage" if it's a "Whatever Length of Time We Feel Like Giving You Massage." They don't take their customer service seriously, so do yourself a huge favor and just purchase a massage elsewhere, there are plenty of places to choose from in the area that honor their advertisements. read more

Called them and left message that i have a groupon, and to let me know what time my appt will be and that i'd fill out paperwork when i get there. No call back so called throughout Sat and couldnt leave message cuz voicemail was full. Started calling 8 am Monday morning and same. Not far from me so drove over at 830 and no one was in the suite. Called back at 918 and reached Kim who advised they didnt get a call back so they dont have appt for me they've been so busy; she did offer to squeeze me in with a masseuse who does not do deep tissue. Groupon deal for25 bucks. I was disappointed. I was 10 minutes late for my appointment therefore I was not allowed to have my extended 30 minutes. The massage felt more like a rub. I could have done that myself. I filled out the questionnaire and checked the "use pressure" box. It was not what I needed. I was waiting for the session to be over. I noticed The front desk had prices for different level of therapist. If this business wants people to return, they need to use the Master therapist for the first impression to get that wow moment. I went to Body Fix Therapies to fix some knots but mainly for my 11 month lower back pain. I purchased a Groupon for an orthopedic massage to try this place out. Erich was my therapist and he was great! He evaluated where I was uneven and straightened me out. On top of that, he fixed my lower back; something that several chiropractic sessions, physical therapy, back therapy, xrays, and an MRI couldn't diagnose or fix. I was so pleased that I decided to book a second massage a few days before my Tough Mudder event. The second time, I tried calling the office, no answer, so I e-mailed and received a confirmation. The e-mail stated that someone would call me the day before to confirm. I waited until late afternoon the day before calling them to confirm since no one had called me. When I showed up for the appointment, the therapists' specialty was not the orthopedic sports massage I had booked, instead it was deep tissue. If I would have known, I would have drank a lot of water before hand and do all the prep before a deep tissue massage. The therapist wasn't bad, but I really was looking forward to an orthopedic sports massage as I had been training and this was right before the Tough Mudder event. Purchased Groupon & first experience (with John) was good as he knows what he's doing. Second experience was similar to what others have said about being cheated and not listened to. On my way, I called to say I need to reschedule as there was an accident and I would be late. I was told that I'd be charged for a cancellation and that I should come anyway that 'Declan's' appointment after mine had cancelled and he would be able to give me the full hour. I arrived at 3:57 pm and Declan ended the massage at 4:20 pm. I was charged for the full hour. I was in more pain the next day; Declan didn't know what he was doing at all. The owner refused to refund my money and her solution was to have me pay another $65 for an hour and she'd give me some extra time. BEWARE!! Hello! I had 4 car accidents and I used Dennis Hicks to work on my injuries like whiplashes, back problems, arms/wrists, and falls (my poor hips). Yeah, I'm clumpsy with my falls. I had pains with my hips but thanks to him that I'm able to sleep good at night. Dennis is a great listener and a GOOD massage therapist! He had help me ALOT with my pains. Understand this, if you have an injury, it's not a one time thing. You have to keep seeing him as he would work and help you on the way to be pain free. I have been seeing him for 8 years and he's AWESOME! I love it when he would pause as he is thinking of how to help you....he may looks puzzle but he is thinking! I love this place! My massage therapist is pretty darn awesome :-). I had been suffering from my usual (stress/tension) migraines. I made a call on Thursday to be seen the next day and was able to find someone available! My therapist books up quickly but I secure my future appointments at least a couple weeks in advance now so I can have my choice for day and time. She really knows her stuff!!! Body Fix is a good name, as opposed to many massage places which could be called Body Feel Good. My massages helped address long standing issues I've had that no other massage were able to help. I have had a few massages by Dennis and they were fantastic. They probably do regular massages too, but when I told Dennis my problems he focused on fixing tightness in myofascial tissues in a couple locations. I have shoulder impingement syndrome where the shoulders are pulled forward out of place and the tendons grind. Dennis helped release tightness in the myofascial tissue and my shoulders returned to a more neutral / floating location and feel way better. That combined with exercise band physical therapy an orthopedic surgeon showed me have allowed me to use my shoulders again and avoid surgery. My IT bands, myofascial tissue along the outside of my thighs, were also very tight leading to pain and knee issues. Dennis loosened these up as well. Addressing these issues and under10 minutes of daily stretching have made my body feel at least 10 years younger. read more

Went here for the first time. My fiancé treated me to a massage. I called ahead to make an appointment and I changed it a few times, they were really accommodating and patient with my changes. Went in right away when I got there. The masseuse Dylan was really great! I liked it when he asked me what areas I wanted him to concentrate on. He did a great job managing the strength level and always ensured I was comfortable. My massage lasted exactly an hour which is nice. I always hate it when places include the time it takes before and after to change. He also gave me some stretches to do to help my pain. It was nice that he showed he cared. I have been seen here a number of times and always wonder why I don't go more. I have used Dennis Hicks for about a year. I have chronic pain in my neck due to a dance floor injury. He has worked all the pain out. I had bunion surgery in November, and my hip doesn't like my new foot. Also I was on a knee scooter for several months which messed up my hip. The staff was incredibly friendly, but I was disappointed in the 60 minute massage I purchased...especially because it was only 40 minutes long. I was a little frustrated with the company, so I wrote a note to the manager. She emailed me within an hour! She apologized and assured me that this was not something they practiced, and she offered me a free massage with one of their senior therapists. I responded, and she called me almost immediately to book me for the following week. I was blown away by the level of customer service and professionalism in handling this!! I really appreciated her taking the time to take my comment so seriously, and to make every attempt to rectify it. I haven't had my massage yet, but I'm really looking forward to it!
