Picton Tattoo do offer a drop in Monday to Saturday but as they are so busy, I'd advise booking - although they will fit you in the same day usually. Once you're all booked in, design finalised and you've prepared yourself for the needle, you're taken upstairs into the studios which are clean and relaxing, but not too clinical that they give you the creeps! Prices start at £30 for tattoos as this is the cost to open a new needle, obviously the bigger the tatt the more expensive, but they are very reasonable. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming, they will also help you design what you want. A great studio!

My girlfriend Claire I. is going to be getting tattooed by Lee Piercy who works here at the Tattoo Tea Party Convention. So we visited here to see the drawing and meet the artist, the shop is decorated freaking over the top and awesome coolness, swords, huge screen, gigantic predator in the window. They have all their awards and examples of works on display also. The two people we met with the receptionist and Lee were extremely friendly and very talkative and went through every aspect and I even had him offer to be interviewed for my documentary RESULT! I will be visiting back here to get some work done for sure!

Being that The Wirral is quite a bit far out from Manchester to get a tattoo, I would never have come across them normally. Seeing the Tattoo Tea Party convention list of artists, I was keen to see who did what and whether it would be worth getting an idea I'd had done here. Whilst doing my research I came across a guy called Lee who had the style and colour that I wanted. I gave them a quick email to ask if he was taking bookings for the convention. I got a speedy reply and then another from Lee asking what I was interested in - I gave the description and Lee said he'd draw something up. I then made arrangements to go and see him at the shop to go through the design. The shop looks amazing with lots of figurines, decor to suit the style of the artists and their artwork displayed in portfolio books, folders and even on the wall! And it was lovely and clean. The receptionist is welcoming and very helpful :) Upon meeting Lee, he sat down and showed me the drawing based on my ideas and example design - it looked awesome! I was glad to have visited - he even recommended an Indian food restaurant down the road for our tea which was great!* Do visit :) *I eventually had my tattoo at the convention and it's great!

I am something of a Tattoo Connoisseur so I have to give my opinion on this shop…read more Firstly, the shop is run by teenagers. Tattooing is an art form which you enter into as an apprentice, learn your trade over time, and then eventually become a professional tattoo artist. This has clearly not been the case here as the "artists" are still children themselves. They are the sort of people who buy a tattoo kit from the Internet and then practise on their friends. The "artwork" I have seen produced by this studio is disgracefully bad. Lines which are meant to be straight are wobbly and portraits look nothing like the realism photo effect they are supposed to have. The piercer here is of the same quality. She has completed a course which took a few days and considers herself to be a professional body piercer, which is an insult to artists who have learnt their trade and respect their art. She pierces using the blade method which has been found to be the most traumatic to the skin. The instruments are reused and therefore become more blunt with each use, again creating more trauma to the body. Please do not go here, trust me.

Analogously with piercings, you can have a piercing almost anywhere you wish on your body. Prices start from £30 for a tattoo and £15 for a piercing. Artists and piercers are very helpful and provide all the information you need prior to your request, plus there is also a detailed website where you can browse at your leisure. Personally, I do not have any piercings or tattoo's but if I were to consider one in the future, then this is the studio I would get it done.

So I went here for a tattoo once. They went though the design with me and everything, I was filing…read moreout the waiver and I asked about medication as I said I have asthma. They turned around and said "oh you need a letter from your doctor". They then took the sheet out of my hand and screwed it up and threw it in the bin. They did not securely destroy this even though it had personal information on it. I went to another studio who said asthma is no issue. In fact every other studio has said no problem. I decided to give Design 4 Life another try. I went in for a nipple piercing, and found the staff quite arrogant and condescending. One even told me that nipple piercings on men look stupid (did I ask his opinion? is it his job to pierce or tell people what to do with their bodies?). The guy who pierced me seemed shaky and inexperienced. I left the piercing in for about 2 incredibly painful months following their aftercare to the letter. It would constantly swell up and cause me pain. It was never even straight, like wonky and not even placed evenly through the skin. I ended up taking it out and getting it repierced elsewhere and it seemed healed within 2 weeks. Basically if you want arrogant talk from people who think they are great and perform poor quality work, this is the place.
