When I go to Palm Springs, it's usually so I can relax. Nothing relaxes me more than a great massage. So, I always book some time with Body Sense. Originally I found Body Sense because they were the on-premises spa at the Palm Springs Tennis Club. Recently they moved, but they are still in the Downtown Palm Springs area. Their new space is small, but quiet and tranquil. I've used a few of the massage therapists here, and each one has been excellent. The Aqua Caliente Stone Massage is my favorite and always does the trick for pure and total relaxation. Plus it's 70 minutes...the perfect amount of time on the table! My group of girls had originally wanted to get massages at our hotel (the Ace Hotel), but all of their spots were booked for the evening so we had to find an alternative. We found Body Sense on yelp, and they were flexible enough to accommodate us on the same day that we called, which was some good news for us unprepared girls who didn't make reservations beforehand! It was the first time that I've gotten a massage, so I went along with what the rest of my group got- swedish massages. It was nice and soothing, but I would have appreciated a deep tissue more to loosen those knots on my back. Lesson learned. One thing that bothered me was that the masseuse used a lot of body oil that made the massage felt more like an oil rubdown than anything. Overall, the one good thing I can say is their flexible schedule. Other than that...I had a good time, but then I haven't had anything to compare it to. :) (Oh and, their price was cheaper than a lot of the other places that we checked out. ~$90 for an hour of Swedish massage. My wife and I visit Palm Springs a couple times a year for a nice getaway. We stay at the tennis club where we came in contact with Mary at body sense. We love that she is a local family owned business as we own a small business of our own and like supporting locals. As for the massage, Mary has been doing this for over 30 years! She has more knowledge of massage than many therapists have years of life! She has strong hands but can also be very gentle. She also is a very sweet person who is soft spoken and doesn't talk a lot during your massage, I happen to like a quiet massage. Had a great time at Body Sense Spa. Called on a Wednesday to set up for an appt for Thursday. Set up a facial-and-massage package for 2 people. Mary helped us with everything. When we showed up, the place was clean, nice, cozy. My wife had the ultimate package, I had the basic facial-and-massage package. The massage was great. Mary had great strong hands, perfect for massaging those sore tight spots around your back. Also, I learned that facials HURT, but afterwards it did leave my face much cleaner and less blackhead-y. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself. After reading the other Yelp reviews, I knew Mary was my girl. I have worked as a massage therapist, have had A LOT of body work and I'm VERY picky. I usually have a hard time totally relaxing because I'm busy critiquing the massage as it is happening. No worries here, I was in Mary's expert hands and I was able to drift away on a blissful cloud during my 85 minute Swedish massage. WONDERFUL customer service! They were very kind and welcoming. I know there have been previous reviews about them using too much oil but I didn't find that to be true, plus they wiped some off with nice, hot towels at the end. My boyfriend and I got the couples massage and it was absolutely wonderful. The only reason that I gave them four stars instead of five are as follows: the darn CD player playing the soothing music messed up mid-session. Not a huge deal but it did kind of ruin the nice aura. Also, they ended the massage with "there you are" and then just walked out. We were almost confused as to what to do. Perhaps ending it with "alrighty we are going to step out to allow you to get dressed" or SOMETHING more finalizing! All-in-all they were fantastic and we will return. read more

Talk about customer service! We ended our Palm Springs Girl's Trip with a afternoon at Body Sense Spa. Each of us enjoyed our massage and facial. The staff was great. One of the ladies in our group through she had lost her wallet and the staff was very helpful. Turns out it had fallen out of her purse and behind a pillow on the couch at the spa. Read the deals - they're hardly a deal at all! You know it's not a good deal when the first thing out of owners mouth when you tell them you have a deal from Yelp is "Oh, did you read this fine print?" Wouldn't let us use the $115 for $150 worth of services because we got a couples massage. Disappointing and so obvious that she had turned off her customer service for two out of towners she'll never see again. One of the best massages I've had. A friend and I each bought the yelp deal ($115 for $150). We opted for the 85 min therapeutic/integrative massage. Since that is normally only $140 and we had the extra $10 Mary threw in a few minutes of foot massage. I've never fallen asleep during a massage before but this was so relaxing that I definitely dozed off for several minutes. I wish I could remember my therapists' name - she was amazing and used exactly the right pressure (medium-firm). It was therapeutic but not painful. No soreness the next day. Mary was able to schedule us in and work around our limited availability .... much to the delight of our sore shoulder and neck muscles. My husband's massage was a little more on the relaxing side and I would recommend that if you are looking for a deep tissue or something more therapeutic that you clear expectations and pricing in advance. My therapist was amazing and really took the time to work on the trouble areas which literally spoke back to her in protest!
