Started communicating at 10:35 am with her by a phone call and continued communicating with her by phone calls and text throughtout the whole time. She kept saying she was on her way, then she'll say shes 10 minutes away and after 25 minutes she said shes 5 minutes away. finally at 11:41 said that she has an emergency. I told her she could have just told me the truth that she cannot make it instead of making me wait for nothing. told my sister and a few friends who were all planning to get the groupon (was a great deal this weekend) not to bother. I was really hoping this place would be great considering the other great reviews but it really wasn't. I had a Groupon for aromatherapy mani/pedi. When I arrived, the place looked alright from the outside around the lobby area and right when I walked in. The rooms are small but quaint. There's a table to lie down on with a few cushions, however the pillow had a strand someone's hair left on it. The "aromatherapy" bit was really just some Jergens lotion that she rubbed on my skin followed by peppermint essential oil that she dropped directly on my skin (a good 3-5 drops). She then covered my arms with what looked like Valentines plastic goodies bags that you put candy in and give to children. The peppermint essential oil eventually started to burn and feel uncomfortable. My biggest problem: the job she did was just sloppy. There's polish all around the edges of where the skin meets the nail and there was clear polish on my fingers that I had to rub and peel off. She butchered my cuticles but then says "Oh your cuticles are very thick you should moisturize them." Out of all the nail salons I've gone to, NEVER ONCE have I been told that I have "thick cuticles". All the other technicians were able to neatly and cleanly cut my cuticles to get the desired look. What the problem probably was is that the instrument she was using was dull and old that's why it wasn't cutting the cuticle well. I work in a hospital so I know my hands are not cute and dainty because of my constantly having to wash them, but I moisturize my hands well enough. As a matter of fact, the first time I had a mani/pedi, I was in labs day in and out and the technician was able to make cuticles look neat with no polish on my skin. I don't know why she wasn't able to. The second major issue is that she cut the cuticles a little too low on my big toes, now they're hurting. I'm on my feet all day and I'm not happy about that. Overall, the lady's demeanor was nice and she was generally friendly, but I didn't like the work she did. I have another Groupon to come back here and I wouldn't. It's honestly not worth it. read more

Please be aware: this place double-dips. Double-dipping when waxing is absolutely unacceptable. I understand that a lot of places might do it, but this is an absolute no-no for me. To deny that this happened would be a lie, and I truly hope that this business will consider more ethical and sanitary practices, especially when it comes to a pot of hot wax, bacteria, and god knows how many people (and what parts of their bodies) it's being used on (think brazilian/back strip and then waxing someones upper lip with the same wax). The cost of wax sticks cannot be more important than a client's health. Maria Elena was very sweet and nice, but that is all I will say. On a more minor note, the "fine print" policy of charging an extra $10 per service is simply an unethical business practice. The groupon seems to just be a predatory way to get clients in to spend more money than they thought they were going to. (not uncommon for businesses to use groupon to reach new clients, but very uncommon for them to charge anything extra, much less $10). In preemptive reference to previous responses from the business to other reviews about "complaining in this way" and "everything has a solution if it is spoken at the moment" -- I did not notice that she was double dipping until the service was almost done, and at that point it was too late for me to do anything about it other than be rude and ask for my money back. Rather than cause a scene or waste any negative energy on something I couldn't change, I simply paid the extra fee, tipped, and went about my way (considering the nature of these reviews, it's not likely I would have gotten my money back even if I had asked). I am choosing to voice this complaint on this platform because consumers have a right to know about practices such as this, which might pose a risk to their health, and I do not believe that voicing this complaint with the business directly would end this practice. I gave two stars instead of one because I cannot attest to other services, and the people I interacted with were very pleasant. However, the double-dipping doesn't warrant anything more than that. It seems this business has a habit of responding to negative reviews with denial and pointing fingers at the customer, which in itself is probably discouraging to potential new clients -- I would encourage the business to rethink this approach. I understand that running a business is hard work, and the frustration that people will complain about what you feel is trivial, but it is good to consider that some strategies and practices might be costing you more in clientele than you gain or save through their implementation. Have to start of by saying thay Maria Elena is a great person, with great energy and very nice to talk to. However I like to address the fact that the ad doesnt reflect the service as is. First of all when I called to confirm the appointment done with her a week ago, she said she hadnt written it down and didnt know I was comming but I could go, I had taken my day off for this so I went. When I go their the place is inside another beauty salon and no one is helpfull they are all rude and just say oh yeah just "chill" and wait for her. So I did, I waited for 50 minutes!!! I was about to leave and she called me, I decided to give it a try because I really had an event that evening and couldnt not have my nails done. First of all its a different type of service, she takes you into a separate massaje room, with a lot of reiki things and has you lay down on a massage table and have to put your legs all crooked into the tub. I didnt like this idea at all, and it isnt stated on the groupon or yelp page. The aromatheraphy wasnt really clear, I guess it was one of the "lotions" she put on my hand folowed by a plastic bag and weird glove. Didnt really seem clean and hygienic. But most importantly, the job wasnt well done, she didnt fix cuticles, or trim nails, and the polish is all over my fingers, she didnt clean it and for my luck I chose red nail polish. Its sad because she is very nice, but I feel she is just taking advantage of having a little spot to offer all the services possible even when not being good at it. read more

I heard her come in to the door and shout "I'm here"! My time is precious and waiting is not an option. Yes, I was offered something to drink but if I'm not thirsty, why should I accept? Your receptionist needs English as a second language. She did not speak English. I used a Spanish/English app to translate my sentiments. God help you and your business to stay open and thriving. I only gave 4 stars because the appointment process leaves you feeling a little uneasy as to whether you really have an appointment or not and also, they don't let you know how long the services will take. My husband came with me and ended up waiting 3 hours.. I told him to just drop me off but oh well lol. Maria Elena gave me my first brazilian wax and made me feel very comfortable. Just make sure that after you get a brazilian wax that you exfoliate that area every time you shower or you'll be sorry lol.. She also shaped and tinted my eyebrows. I had my eyelashes tinted and permed for the first time there and I was really happy with the way they turned out.
