I have been here a couple times and loved it... they did wonders for my hair... However today's experience was unexcuseable... I went in to get my nails done for a funeral... The girl in the front was nice as always.. But. The lady doing my nails was blobing on an excessive about of nail polish while getting a ton of cotton on my nails. I made several comments and she claimed no english. She did so badly the nail polish hardened to my skin (i got gel) She would only fix three nails and when I asked for more she said in SPANISH "OH now shes going to complain about alll of them". Which was honestly well deserved on my part, I should have walked away. The nails she fixed she didnt even put a base coat. 2 nails are already chipped and the others have some sort of wave going on from the polish being so thick. I would have not written a review but you do not assume a customer does not speak a language. I would take better photos but its a dark color and I have a flight to catch. Thanks for making an already bad experience that much worse. I made an appointment for an hour massage. While decent, the lady just could not get a decent hard rub in. She asked how the pressure was and I asked her to do it harder. She barely put more effort in, and when I asked again, there was barely a difference. I have had about 2-3 massages a year for the last 6-7 years, so I know the difference between swedish and deep tissue. I do not enjoy deep tissue personally. However, I do not enjoy a light rub down that a friend could give me either, then fork over $70 for the hour. There are also knots, which I love when they massage out, which was not the case here. What made up for it (a tiny bit) was the fact that she used some hot stones on me for the last 5 or so minutes. read more

Service is different and better once you're out of Miami beach, I'm just gonna keep it real. This place was very professional, took me right at my appointed time, brought me some proesecco and actually cared that I not rush out because I only had sneakers and they didn't want me to ruin my pedi. Price is right too. It's cutely appointed and tons of other things all around if you want to get your nails did and hit up some arepas or a croques Monsieur. Highly recommend. Highly Recommended!!! I went in for a hair color correction, hair cut, style and blow dry, then added on a manicure last minute, which they accommodated. I don't recommend booking last-minute anything, anywhere, just out of respect for the staff, other clients and establishment. Nonetheless, the owner was kind enough to arrange it. I found WaxMee Salon & Spa on Instagram (@waxmee_salon_and_spa), when I was searching for a new hairstylist. I've been getting my hair done for the past 20 years, and I am picky with whom I let color treat it. I decided to try out WaxMee S&S, because I noticed from their Instagram posts that their results looked beautiful, even on different people with different hair styles/colors/textures/etc. They don't just work the trendy blonde balayage, but they work with darker color and reds, too, which takes skills. HAIR: Ask for Romina, she is amazing! Romina took her time with the initial consult to truly understand what had been done to my hair by a previous hairstylist. I really appreciated this, because lately, a lot of stylists tend to tell you what they want to do with your hair. That's fine if you're open to the surprise, but feeling heard is so important for someone who knows what they want. Her work is not cookie-cutter. She truly tailors the style to each person, and makes suggestions based on experience and on your particular needs. Romina was efficient, fast, knowledgeable, skilled, professional and friendly. I appreciated that she was on time, got to work right away, was mindful of the time and communicative throughout the process. I asked her to cut about 5-6 inches off of my hair, which she did. This is important, because for some reason, it seems other stylists are afraid to use their scissors and they end up only trimming the ends! Romina listened and understood what I wanted, and delivered a new style and color that looks very natural and tailored to me! I will definitely be back and highly recommend that you book with her. I love my new hair color and cut! NAILS: The manicure was a last-minute add-on, but that didn't mean I had to wait long. The owner immediately called one of the manicurists who got to work on my nails as Romina was doing my hair. I truly appreciate this, because they don't waste your time. I loved that I was able to get two services done at once, so that I did not have to end up spending the entire day at the salon. The manicurist was so good and fast! For a moment I thought she was rushing it, but the end result was flawless. My only regret is not remembering her name, although I do remember her face. I will be back to see her as well. SALON: WaxMee is a full-service salon with professional and friendly staff, and EXCELLENT prices! Some of their other services include laser treatments, facials, massages, fibroblast, etc. It was clean, the receptionist and the owners are very attentive, and the coffee and tea nook is stocked (something a coffee-lover like me appreciates). My family and I had been loyal to this establishment since it opened. We are three girls and my mother, so as you can imagine we used to go there a lot! We went because the employees, especially Maria and Yamile are so nice. Ownership and management are not. We are no longer their customers. Freddy the owner and my mother had a small disagreement over whether my sister's mani/pedi had been pre-paid or not. We often just pre-pay as we go often. My mother had agreed to just comply since we're there always and that was that... or so she thought. Freddy (the owner) threw my mother's credit card in her face and said she was no longer allowed in nor "nadie de tu raza". That means me and my sisters. I'm not upset to be "banned" I just think no one should be treated this way. I never write reviews but this was so shocking to me that I had to. How does he even think this is acceptable behaviour! I have been here twice for pedicures now and they do a nice job. The cost ($28) for a spa pedi is reasonable, their chairs are comfy and the technicians are gentle but thorough with my ingrown toe nails. Since they have plenty of technicians, I was able to get a same day appointment on both Saturdays I went. The ladies don't speak English, which is fine by me, as I like to read my magazine and relax while they work on my toes. Plenty of Essie colors to chose from, as well as Opi. It was my first time doing cryolipolysis aka fat freezing. I did 4 areas in one day and it wasn't as painful as I thought. The technician was helpful and made sure to massage all the areas after the treatment thoroughly. Also, the salon has a nice fluffy blanket so you are warm during the treatment. They have water and coffee for you. Also, what I really appreciated was the fast availability. I will update this post with the results in 2-3 months! The staff is super friendly and the place is cute & quaint. It has a neighborhood feel & I consider the prices very affordable! So far the services I have received are pedicure, manicure and eyebrow wax. They also offer facials & massage. Interesting notes: Wednesdays they have $10 manicures, After 5 visits you get 10% off & they are featured in May's issue of Allure magazine for their bikini waxes. I leave the salon happy with my results... so happy that I'm sticking with David from now on whenever I need a trim. I've also had a mani/pedi. The service was quick and well done. The prices are pretty average in comparison to other spas. The salon is quite spacious now that they've recently opened the hair styling section. There is a separate area for mani/pedis and also a few rooms for wax treatments. The staff is friendly and professional. I recommend visiting the spa if you haven't already. Faced with an unexpectedly sunny day and my normal esthetician on "personal leave" I panicked before remembering about WaxMee. I'm very loyal to my esthetician at Uni-K. However the location at Mary Brickell Village is closed down for re-modeling. What was amazing about WaxMee is that I called at 9:30 on a Saturday morning and they had appointments available at 10:00 am. I got in and 12 minutes later I was out the door and on my way to spend 2 hours at the pool before the rain clouds returned. While WaxMee got the job done, I still like my regular esthetician better. After one week, I needed a touch up and that's not typically the case. After years of getting my bikini line waxed, I find that sometimes it's not the salon, but the technique of the waxer that matters. I did think that $30 for the bikini line was a little steep when some places charge that amount for a full brazilian. The less-than-warm reception and the so-so results also don't make me a convert, but I'll definitely return again if I find myself in a pinch because it is close to my home. read more

This place is great, I have been going for years (whenever I do get around to it). I've had manicures, pedicures, eyebrow wax and lip waxing done here. For everything, it usually runs me about $70 (French for mani/pedi). It is a bit steep, but totally worth it. The staff is very friendly and the manicures actually last a full two weeks. Excellent place. I walked in for a swedish massage after a stressful week at work. Tamara, the masseuse was so sweet and did such a great job. After the massage, I got a manicure and pedicure with the ladies at the salon to top off my pampering time. The have a great Essie nail polish collection with the latest color. I love wax mee. I have been coming for years. However they do have their flaws. In the beginning when I used to call for an appt. the receptionist was super nice and always was able to fit me in. Recently they have a different receptionist with a thick hispanic accent. Thats not my issue though...my issue is his unprofessional-ism. I once made an appt. and he couldn't hear me...so he hanged up and called me again..then got my name wrong. Then twenty mins before my appt calls me, hangs up, then calls again and leaves a voicemail...okay weird? I am willing to let it go because I swear by their eyebrow waxing. They are the best. Plus I am super allergic to wax, and Wax Mee's wax is the only wax that does not make my skin break-out. Their wax is the aloe-vera green wax that requires no paper. There nail services are great but a little pricey. They have great deals during the week, I believe Monday through Wednesday. I don't mind paying a lot when I am in a hurry. You don't realize how much you miss someone until they're gone! And that someone is my wonderful Nail Virtuouso, Yami. I was going to be in the 305 for a lunch meeting, and before I headed south called Wax Mee to get an appoitnment with Yami. I've been going to one spot in the 954 since I moved here, but I'm not thrilled with the work, and the location lacks serious cuteness factor. When I breezed in, I was greeted with the familiar faces, sounds and sights of my go to nail place for the past 4 years. Yami got right to work, and immediately I realized the difference. She takes her time: to file, for cuticle care, for polishing and clean up. I am in/out in 30 minutes, including sitting in "punishment" - the nail dryer. Although I skipped this service - her pedi's are fantastic. She even got me through my blackened nails when I fancied myself a distance runner. Prices are comparative for these parts - $15 for a mani/ $38 for a pedi. They have every Essie color imaginable, and also carry an extensive OPI collection. I've waxed my eyebrows a few times with Rebecca in the past, and she's done a good job. I tend to give very strict directions with my eyebrows, so that's a big part of it I'm sure. They also carry this awesome Italian hair product line, Davines. I only use the conditioners, but they have changed my hair. Trust me, try it and you won't be disappointed. As for now, I will continue my search in Fort Lauderdale for my nail "place" while dreaming of Yami's technique and weekly dose of Cuban wisdom. Farewell! read more
