I remember I got a membership during Covid. They said autopay was mandatory. So I signed up. Shortly after that they closed the gym for Covid for a few months. They didn't let me cancel my membership because I signed some contract when I signed. Saying I was to wait a year before I cancel. I also didn't get refunded for all the months they charged me while they were closed. I ended up having to replace my card so they can stop charging me. The gym wasn't all that. Pros: Good for the location. Ample equipment; smoothie bar is such a great idea. They have a good line-up of offered classes. The childcare center here has a phenomenal set-up. Cons: staff need to familiarize themselves when attempting to contact children under the legal age to hold a membership. Customer service was lacking in this area. read more

After going to a few different gyms in Paulding county, I tried BodyPlex. I got a good special and paid for a year in full. First off let me say the childcare has greatly improved with their check in/ out process since I started. All in all childcare isn't great but it's not bad. No complaints with that. The gym itself is a different story. The machines are old and out of date. There are 5 elliptical in the back row that are all broken and have been sitting there since I started in March of 2018. The machines are so close to each other it feels like i'm invading someones personal space whenever I use them. When the gym is busy, it's even worse and because the space is so small and compact if there are more then 20 people it seems crowed. In my personal opinion, it seems like the owner is more concerned with up selling random crap like shirts and protein powder SAMPLES then upgrading the equipment. For the price that you are paying it makes more sense to go to LA Fitness or a pay a little extra and go to a cross fit gym of some sort. Which brings me to another point... they charge an additional fee for extra classes I.E. - HIIT, boot camp, GRIT, etc. on top of your monthly - when I was quoted my monthly (prior to me paying in full) it was somewhere around 120.00 monthly (monthly membership plus GRIT) with a year commitment and an initiation fee. The only reason I chose this gym is because I needed the childcare and it was 24 hours. It is over priced and definitely not worth the money. Do your research before signing up. I started at Bodyplex at the end of 2013 due to the price and the childcare. Their Les Mills group fitness classes are what really got me going regularly (after I got over the initial fear). I quickly fell in love with Bodypump and gradually added more classes. Over the years changes have been made to improve the facility as the owners have changed, for the better. The instructors and dedicated members became like family and kept me motivated. I recommend Bodyplex to anyone who needs the flexibility of a 24 hour gym, childcare, and people who care about you and your goals. read more

UPDATE: Cara (Manager) was more than understanding of my personal situation when I called her today. Any issues I had with my membership have been resolved. My faith is restored - they really are serious about their professional integrity! :) Thanks Cara!!!!!!! Nothing personal, but I give the place one star only because of their move policy. You have to move at least 30 miles away to qualify for the move away/cancellation policy to be allowed. This is greater Atlanta! I work more than 30 miles from the gym, and then from the gym it's another 20 miles to home. So if I want to work out at this gym, I have to leave work each day, drive an hour to get there, work out, then drive 40 minutes north to my new home. Somebody should rethink this policy! While the policy is legal, it's absolutely unreasonable. I wish I would have never agreed to a two year contract, since I moved away after only one year. Shame on me. I won't make that mistake again! My advice, be sure to think long and hard on the commitment you're willing to make to Bodyplex gym in Hiram, or any gym for that matter. If/when I ever sign up for another gym membership, I'll do month-to-month only. read more

This is more about the business of Bodyplex rather than the gym. The gym itself is okay, but the equipment is a bit outdated and of lower quality than many gyms I've been to. I never really cared for the classes and the structure of their classes either. However, the staff is very friendly, and this gym is the best option in Hiram, at least so it seemed. I moved 18 miles away to east Marietta, and as most Atlanta area folks know, this is a good 35 to 45 minute drive depending on traffic. They refused to cancel my membership because I wasn't moving far enough away. The only way out of the contract was to pay a year's remaining balance and provide a letter stating my intent to leave. In other words, there's no way out unless you are moving 30 miles away or more, which is an excessive mileage requirement in my opinion. I don't know about you, but driving 35-45 minutes to the gym every day is not possible for me. This is how they make their money, and I feel duped. I would not recommend this business to anyone, and if you can, take your business elsewhere. read more

Same thing happened to me me at this gym they said I could cancel in so many days I went there in person put it in writing and handed it the manager and they swore I didn't cancel and just keep taking payments out of my checking account they only way they canceled was to tell me I was going to take them to court !!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! RUN away as fast as possible. The WORST customer service from the employees. I had an appt with Jimi (the trainer) to train and he wasn't even there when I got there, and no one knew where he was. He came strolling in with food and then says he doesn't feel good and send one of the other trainers out to train me for my appt with HIM!! I paid for the first month but was told I could cancel w/ in the first 7 days of my membership and get reimbursed. I cancelled by letter in person, and had it signed by one of the employees and I have still never gotten my money back two weeks later. I was told, "it takes time" I get a call from their financial company asking for more information b/c they are trying to charge my account for the first month. They said Bodyplex claims I never cancelled within my 7 days and I was just in there last week working out! I haven't been in over 2 weeks! Of course I call and speak with the manager who assures me that it will be taken care of and he'll call me right back in 15 min. Hours later, still no phone call. The employees don't speak when you walk in, only stare at you. They never seem to know what it is going on. You never see them doing any work (like cleaning) just standing around gossiping. I was at the front desk as they were gossiping about a girl on facebook. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They gym itself is cool, they will just take you on a ride with your money. read more

The beginner part of signing up was a little frustrating but only because I wanted a trainer and the trainers are separate from the gym. So the information given to me my the gym salesperson was not correct in regards to how many free training sessions were part of my package. My first four training sessions were with four different trainers. I think this was more due to new ownership taking over. But other than that I love it. The gym is never too crowded. They have daycare which my children love. And every third Friday of the month you can leave the kids there from 5-8pm without having to be in the gym yourself. Overall I'm happy. read more

Not my first review on yelp, but the first under an assumed name. I'm still a member and like coming but the gym's too small to deal with managements issues. I will answer emails under this name. First, the positive. 1. It's got kids care. My kids like coming while I work out. They are in a safe place and I can watch them on monitors. 2. Wide variety of machines. They are older (originally installed in 2008 I think) but 99% work. 3. Classes continue to change to keep people interested. Ok the bad. 1. Cleanliness. They need to hire a company to clean the gym. Equipment is dusty, same mud on machines etc. Why do you let people in street clothes/shoes and boots workout? Women's restroom is always dirty and I can smell the men's room. Weight room floor mats need to be sanitized. You can smell the stale sweat on them. 2. Management. The owner/manager Paul specifically. He has no idea what customer service is. Quite rude and vocally loud. Unless your a younger female he doesn't have time for you. He didnt realize my guest (paid $10 to get her in) he hit on was 14 years old. In addition, when passing him you can smell his body odor. He may be working out and not changing afterwards. 3. Music. It's the same 70-80's hard rock and metal all the time. I'm told its Paul's choice and he won't change it. How about some club or other motivational high beat music? 4. Make people put weights back on the rack. Or occasionally have the manager walk through and pick up behind people. He's always showing off his arms to the women so put him to work. 5. Equipment needs maintenance. Some of the machines seem 'loose'. Some cables need oiling in the weight machines. A lot of equipment is missing handles and clips to hold handles. Replace blown bulbs in ceiling. Many are out. 6. Mirrors broke/dirty. 7. Replace bulbs in suntan booths. They are weak/old. Overall is not a bad gym. Just a little dirty and dated. So is the management. Attitude adjustment/replacement is necessary before you really have some issues like harassment. Fees are approaching the point where you don't get value for the costs. Mother in law said they tried to discourage her from joining under the Silver Sneakers plans. She did file a complaint with the Silver Sneakers folks and I don't know how that worked out as yet. Bottom line is that most of the other gyms in the area are cheaper (as in $10-15/month) , but without child care and classes. Determine what's important before you join. read more

Biggest nightmare of my life. I signed a membership contract with this Bodyplex last year with the manager Paul. I let Paul know that I was only going to be in Georgia while my husband was deployed and would be returning to California sometime around November. He still recommended the 2 year contract because of some discount and assured me that it was "so easy" to cancel and that there was no cancellation fee. Of course this was my fault for not reading the fine print. Everything seemed to be going fine and I enjoyed my workouts. Then I had to move an hour and a half away for the rest of my time in Georgia. I called the Bodyplex and asked what I needed to do to cancel. I was told that I could bring in my Verizon bill with my name and new address as proof (aha, sneaky bastards were lying). This turned out to not be true, but they played along with this idea for awhile. So, I brought the bill and signed the cancellation form with Paul. Next month, I get charged. I call 4 days in a row and finally get to speak to Paul who then says he will have to look up my account and call me back. A week goes by and I get no call and finally make the trip to Bodyplex. Paul makes some story up about changing billing companies and so it must have not gone through or whatever and assures me he will send it in again. Skipping a few months, I get charged a total of four months. When I finally moved to California, I got to speak to Paul again after a million calls. He says something about sending it in and to call in 2 hours to see if it goes through. I call...he's busy. I call....he tells someone else to say he hasn't heard from the company. I call again and he yells "I'm a busy man" and hangs up. I finally go through the third party billing company and am told that they have received not one piece of paper about a cancellation. I send in my California lease and it's finally cancelled. Now so that I don't rattle on for 10 more minutes, I get some calls about owing $133 as a final fee, turns out that was completely wrong and it's $85 (still no call back from their supervisor) and so I call Paul asking if he can wave this since I've paid this last 4 months = $140. Of course Paul is playing games again and so I have filed a complain with the BBB. The best part of this whole story? The third party billing company says that wireless bills are not accepted to cancel memberships. So, I was lied to at the beginning and even though I still have that bill it doesn't count. But the real kicker...I can't find my copy of the cancellation form that I signed originally with Paul. Of course he knows this and this is why he is playing me like a puppet. read more

Called to ask about contract. very very very very very very rude. The guy wouldn't even tell me his name! I was a bit concerned with the contract- you have to admit, a contract at a gym is ...rare and a little odd.... and I was calling to just get comfortable with it, and believe me, I WANTED to be comfortable with it...the classes seem awesome!!!! and it's so close to my house!!! But this guy was more into telling me how I could go elsewhere than he was in selling me a contract, or telling me anything positive about the gym. I went to Bodyplex to sign in for my New Year's resolution of a healthier me. John, the sales associate, was very helpful and kind. When he was unable to answer my questions he stated that he would get the general manager to assist me. The GM stated he was too busy because he was in the middle of his workout and he refused to assist me period. Maybe if I was a tall blonde and not a short chunky Hispanic woman he would have had time to gain a new paying customer. However he can keep working out while he is on the clock because I will not be paying for his workouts. read more

I like Bodyplex for the great fitness classes and instructors. It is a shame that there isn't an LA Fitness, Gold's gym nor World gym because they would give Bodyplex a run for their money! Bodyplex is the only gym in the Hiram/Dallas, GA area to offer classes. No, I take that back.....World Fitness (in shopping center next to Aldi) does offer classes but not like Bodyplex. Bodyplex has an abundance of equipment and a weight room. They offer child care. My gripe with them is it has a terrible odor when you walk in the front doors. I know, it is a gym! I have been a member of this gym for many years but in my previous lifetime I've been a member of other gyms and they didn't have an odor when you walked in the doors! Also, the lady's locker room smells like mildew. They've painted and it is an improvement. I go to the gym at different times of the day and have noticed the toilets are nasty! Guess I should say something to management. With the following comment you will know I am of the "older" generation! The music they play during the early afternoon is nothing but screaming alternative music(?)! I enjoy good rock n' roll, country and even pop top 40 but the screaming is horrible. I wear my buds and you can hear the music through what I'm listening to! An older couple were using the machines and the man had his hands over his ears! lol I will continue having a membership there. Have no desire to jump over to Planet Fitness! Yuk! But if there is ever another gym as mentioned above I would jump ship to join one of them. read more

I've been a member since March and overall this has been a very frustrating experience. I did the yearly contract thinking I would be getting my money's worth but these people have no idea what the concept of customer service means!. Basically once you sign up the money you pay will never be reimbursed to you (no matter how they treat you) so they don't have to care. I signed up for personal training classes about two weeks ago. I gave them a check for the first few classes and the next day a trainer called me to schedule the classes but our schedules conflicted so he asked me to call the manager. Her name is Melissa. Well after two weeks of calling twice a day I finally gave up. She was never there and she never returned any of my calls. Also no one can tell me what happened to my check and my contract because it was never added to my account. The manager of the gym (Paul)was not able to help me when I first reached him after almost two weeks of trying. He explained to me that the trainers are a different company altogether and promised to get back with me but he never did. When I told him I do not want to be a part of his Gym anymore and I wanted a reimbursement of the months I have not used he gave me a flat out no. He promised to get back with me once he got a hold of Melissa but he never did. I finally called last Friday to let them know( i had to leave a message again) if they ever find my check not to cash it. I'm tired of feeling like a pest all because I was expecting to receive a service I never got. read more
