I just returned home from my 4th visit to Voyageur, the last 3 in as many years, and it's by far my…read morefavourite place to go camping. We stay at Portage campground (there are 4 campground all together), because it's by far the most wooded and private. The lots are huge, and almost completely closed in. It's difficult to hear anyone else unless they are being very loud, which you're not supposed to do. There is a "no excessive noise at any time" rule in place. The lots are so big that we had room for 3 tents (a 3 person, a 4 person and a 6 person tent) plus a 12 x 12 screen house and two cars. We rented two lots as we were a group of 8 people, and put the picnic table from the other lot on ours and still had plenty of space for everyone to move around, set up outdoor games, and sit, distanced, around the fire. I will only plan camping trips here.

No really...I wasn't that excited, but I was up for it and we packed our balaclavas and lots of layers of clothing, so we might as well use it right? We're so glad we did it. The park itself looks quite large. We only did a portion of it as it was super cold. So we took the trail to the rapids which is pretty and you get to see the city from there. The trail is nicely marked and you can actually go all the way around the lake that's there. We just turned around after getting to the rapids. It's quite picturesque and some folks were doing cross country skiing around the park. Definitely a lovely spot to get a view and just get outside.

We went early in the morning, but can assure you that this place gets busy very fast. The principal attraction is the zipline, which makes this park truly unique. Make your way to the treehouse, going on the suspended bridges, spider webs and ladders. Lots of other features to ensure that kids of all ages will not get bored, and plenty of places to sit or even have a bite to eat. Very well designed and plenty of space. Just be mindful to stay off areas where there are warning signs about poison ivy.

Despite there being 5 stages, things were really well spread out, it was very clean, and there was plenty of space to move around in the crazy crowds. There were a lot of shade options around and seating that seemed permanent to the park, which is rare at festivals. One of the better parts of the experience was the transit. Getting there via ferry was quick (once I figured out which pier was the right one). Leaving the venue was even better. They had trains lined up and ready to go. As fast as one could fill up, the next one was there and ready to fill up as well. I was at the front of main stage for that headliner, and from there to getting off of my main metro stop back in Old Montreal was no more than 20 minutes. A nice fountain provides a nice water feature to this park. It is a hilly recreation area with a nice basketball court, soccer field, and an area for Petanque. We were there mid morning and we saw many little kids playing with their child care professionals around watching....Just a relaxing park.

The sign says there's a $300 fine if your dog is there. Not cool for animal lovers but I get it. Last thing you want is for your kid to roll in the grass right onto some dog poop.
