The park gets busy over the weekend as it is very close to Montreal, yet there is a lot of space for everybody and the crowds thin out as you go further climbing the hills. The ascent to the top can be taxing if you take the pathway that includes the stairs. I would recommend taking one of the trails up to pace yourself and enjoy the journey to the scenic views. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the legendary Landscape Architect who also designed New York's Central Park, and the grounds for Stanford...the impressive list goes on. You really get the impression that this park was thoughtfully designed and planned to harmonize with the native species of plants. There are two Belvederes where you can view the city. We ventured up to Kondiaronk Belvedere and were treated to sweeping views of the city. If you are looking for a postcard-perfect view of Montreal, this is it! Mount Royal Park is a must-do and was definitely one of the highlights of our Canadian trip. Don't miss this park, it's immersive qualities are outstanding and your are rewarded with incredible views if you persevere to the top!

There were paved paths up the hill to the top of the park. It was a lot of hilly inclines but there were a few benches along the way. At the top at the chalet, there is a nice view of Montreal over the trees. There is a large building up the stairs where you can go down the stairs to the bathrooms. We took the stairs all the way down to McGill University and down more hills to our hotel farther in the city. Chatgpt said there is between 339 to 525 steps depending on how you come out. I was totally amazed as you turn the corner, how many other flights of steps there were. There is no way, I would have made it up the stairs. The wooden stairs were of the same color, no color stripe marking the edges, so for someone with progressive glasses, it made it hard to see where each step ended to go to the next one. I looked more to the edges to see the outline to know. I would have really have hated taking the stairs in the dusk when it was darker or overcast. When we sightsee, I can walk 20,000 - 25,000 steps a day; however with that number of stairs then all the hills from McGill University down to our hotel, my legs felt it that night. The next day, my calves were badly cramping and knotted up for several days afterwards, so I am glad we visited at the end of our trip, not at the beginning. It took 5 days before I could walk without pain. If you decide to go, make sure you do it at the end of your trip or your calves and legs are really stretched out and strong.

I didn't get to see any deer as I've heard are prevalent but it was full of joggers, respectful families, and lots of seniors calmly enjoying the scenery. No wild kids running around and no large families lounging around having a public BBQ left and right (my pet peeve and I see this in many parks). This is a perfect place to go for a leisurely walk and enjoy nature, bike riding, exercising, and the jungle gym is well maintained with swings and fun slides. The park was so huge I didn't get to see much of it but I hope to go back soon and take lots of pics!

You can do a 2km, 3 km, 5 km or 10km and there are lots of signs to keep you on your chosen path. You will find a lot of birds and deer that are residents of the park. There is also a small lake area with a fountain where you can sit and read or have a picnic. There is a parking lot with free parking, a couple of food trucks, bathrooms and a playground for kids.

We biked here from out in Mile End so after a hectic ride through the city, arriving on this island was heaven. It's deeply peaceful and really really fun to ride around on, amazing bike paths rolling through quiet trees and protected, diverse nature. People are here fishing, walking, kayaking and generally relaxing. I didn't find any earth shattering views or anything like that, but a real sense of peace really close to the heart of the city.

Not a lot of picnic tables or park benches but everyone who shows up here seems to be well stacked with their own stuff, inflatable kayaks, stand-up paddles, outdoor bbq, volleyball nets, etc. Nun's Island has an extensive network of bike paths but there's also a great hiking trail along the waters edge, in the back yards of the exclusive residences of this wealthy bedroom community, which also intersect at this park. Given how crazy "mainland" Verdun has become in the past 3 years especially that dank beach, I'm happy to find a much quieter, cleaner and natural place where I can watch the birds, read books underneath the cool shade of willow trees and possibly venture and wade in the water and not have to see a single obnoxious hipster or man-bun in sight.

No play structures for children. It's more of a park for grown ups, lol. It was built in the 1990s. You can't see in my pictures, because it's covered with snow, but there's a stone mosaic on the ground of North America and South America which was created by Jules Lasalle, a Montreal sculptor. There's an arch with a stone stage that was designed by Carlos R. Martinez, a Montreal landscape architect. It's a very pretty park. I loved walking through it when I lived in Montreal. I never been to this park but I looked in that area and this park looked nice and seemed to have trails for our kids hiking levels. The kids loved this park, amazing trails, not that hard that go inside the woods or along the river. Lots of scenic stops, and lots of fun in general. What made us very happy is that this park ALLOWS DOGS (a big thing in Quebec). The park is also very popular as a fishing spot, or for mushroom pickers. The entry is about 5-7$ pp and there is free parking, you can see all the details and trails on the park site, they are also very friendly (and speak English) over the phone. Overall a well deserve 5 stars !
