After Covid I had developed trigeminal neuralgia. The meds I was treated with after months hardly touched it but left me with bad side effects. I've been coming to Boise Acupuncture for almost a year now and I have only positive things to say about it! All of the acupuncturists there are amazing, kind, and feel so open to healing. Walking into the treatment room is like walking into peace. The environment here is one of true care and healing. I've always felt very listened to by everyone about my health concerns and my pain, the acupuncturists are very educated and always willing to help with supplements, recommendations, etc. I've been struggling with pain for a lot of my life and it was not until recently I received a Fibromyalgia diagnosis. Going to acupuncture regularly has completely changed my life and helped to alleviate so much of my pain. Flare ups are no longer as common and even when I am experiencing pain, the ladies here are always willing to help. Shanell is one of the acupuncturists here that I absolutely love (among many), she was so kind and sympathetic about my diagnosis. I always felt very seen. 4 years ago I went once to get poked at BAC, this was when they were in the northend area. A friend from my group said to come check it out. Life got crazy crazy with the recovery train and I haven't been back until today. I still 4 years later was receiving newsletter-emails from BAC, to remind me that they are still here :0). I have the worst tennis elbow or I should say "lash elbow" from my career. I get wicked bad neck aches from looking down all day and am in constant pain. I also am moving in with my fiancé who has a cat and am severely allergic. A friend of a friend said she got acupuncture on her ear (6 sessions) for cat allergies, from a place and if you didn't have insurance it would coast $2800!! I read up on acupuncture and thought it wouldn't hurt to try again. GoOoOod energy from the gentleman working the front desk and from Shanell whom poked me. Shanell was more than accommodating and educational on what the process was. After my hour sess, I left with LITERALLY NO PAIN in my elbow and I felt pretty grounded. She's a good shot lol. No discrimination at this place with a touch of organic vibes. I booked many more sessions to continue the body's natural healing process. UPDATED So I've had every acupuncturist stick me, Mara, Gretchen,Stacy, and Shanell..All poke a little different but all are super rad!!! I couldn't get relief the 2nd time around after they once treated my neck pain/strain..my tennis elbow is still cured but still maintain with a poke every so often..My neck was treated and felt so much better, went and had a massage and it pisted it off again..So now I ask them the give the needles a little wiggle in further and that did the trick..All better :0) read more

I've been in Boise about a year now and had been looking for a new place to call home with regard to acupuncture. I came from an employer who covered acupuncture on our insurance to now having to pay out of pocket. Most spa and holistic wellness practices in Boise are waitlisted for a few weeks to a month out, and outside my budget. When I found BAC I was excited! I had been to a co-op in Eugene and enjoyed the experience. I appreciate the mission of accessible care for anyone. I've been a few times now, seeing Gretchen for stress and exhaustion. She has been so caring and kind. I always end up asleep and well rested. Things to know: -sliding scale $15-40 per visit with a $10 set up - online scheduler and they take walk-ins - they offer tea, water, cough drops - they have blankets, wraps (if you don't have clothing conducive to a good session) - several recliners to choose from in a dimly lit room with music, white noise and salt lamps -pay before your session -plan to be there at least an hour each time for best results read more

Hi I have only gone here a few times but I have learned how to relax and settle in to a chair and let "Gretchen" determine and poke me. I really respect that she takes the time to find out what I need and also expresses things she does in her life other than acupuncture! She makes me feel comfortable! I had one day with too many things keeping my mind just jumping around and had to cut my time short b cause of not being able to calm my self down. I've been here a few times now. The receptionists are friendly. I liked that tea is offered. While it's not something I usually drink, it's part of my little ritual now before I go into the treatment room. The treatment room itself is cozy. (And not cozy in the small sense as you don't feel all crammed together.) At first, I was a little unsure about the community aspect. However, when I walked into the room and saw everyone just looking so relaxed, it helped me calm down, too. It's dim, quiet, and soft music plays. You can choose to get a blanket and a little pillow, then you choose a recliner to sit in. The needles are only placed from the elbows and knees down, so no one is exposed to the room. I've only met with Gretchen, and I'd describe her as deft. She doesn't fumble or hesitate, and seems quick and efficient in placing the tiny needles. At our first meeting, she asked some health questions to get an idea of where I was coming from and to form a treatment plan. The needles themselves don't really hurt. There's been a time or two where I've thought "ouch!" but it quickly fades. I haven't seen anyone flinch and no one has audibly yelped. You can choose how long you want to rest; the recommendation was about an hour, so that's about how long I go. I appreciated that Gretchen made a treatment plan that was very reasonable in terms of frequency. I didn't feel like she was just making something up so I'd continue to frequent the establishment. I really do feel better after the sessions. I don't know that I 100% believe in acupuncture philosophy, but something about being in such a relaxing environment really works. And the price? Can't be beat. You choose how much you pay, between $15-40. If you're wondering if you should give it a try, I'd recommend it. Everything about my experience was wonderful. I had emailed the office with some basic inquiries. I quickly received a response and decided to make an appointment. I easily scheduled my appointment on their website and received a confirmation email within a couple of minutes of making it and even received a reminder a day before the appointment. Also through their website I was able to print out the required forms and fill them out before the visit. Today I arrived for my visit and was greeted at the front desk by a wonderful young lady who prepared my chart and was willing to answer any questions I had. The sliding scale method of payment is incredible and welcomed. I was shown to the treatment room. This room is large and roomy yet cozy and serene. The dimmed lights and soothing music immediately put me at ease. Stacey Kelsey, my acupuncturist, reviewed my chart ad spoke to me about health and the issues for which I was seeking relief. Since it was my first visit with an acupuncturist she explained what she would be doing, showed me the needles, told me of the possible sensations I would feel from them. Within a couple of minutes she had inserted them all and the recliner was laid back into "nap" position. It was so relaxing. At the end of the session we mapped out a treament plan to address my symptoms. I can't wait for my next appointment. This may be just what I was looking for! I walked into the office with the beginning of a migraine. When walked out it was gone. I waited until this evening to write the review so I could confirm the status ....it is still gone. Lori is new to the co-op and I met her today and received treatment from her. She's excellent. She tried a point on the bottom of my feet nobody has tried on me before. I had a rejuvenating rest and calmed my mind. I've been receiving private treatments at an acupuncture clinic, and that's awesome, but the schedule has been tight at the private clinic and I don't like to miss a week so I scheduled at the co-op to fill the gaps.
