Well, no good way to begin this so I guess I'll just dive in. Stopped in the other day coming back…read morefrom Fort Smith because my wife's son won an award there for his Korn tribute band. So in the interest of fairness, maybe my mood was already a little soured. But the events that transpired in this restaurant certainly didn't help, and likely took years off my life. The trouble began before we even got in the restaurant. A gentleman had parked his truck, revving ostentatiously, in between my car and the front door. He kept giving me and my wife weird, hostile looks. When we walked by, she (my wife is a kind soul) presumably gave him a look of concern, and this guy cracks his window-- doesn't roll it down all the way, like he's scared of the cold or something-- and starts going "What? What?" like he's Taxi Driver. Remember that movie? He was totally freaking out. He was shaking in there. Maybe he really was cold...At any point I took him for a harmless(?) druggie, and we kept walking. We get into the restaurant, and get a seat by the window. We get a nice server at least, girl named Autumn (I know because I made her write it down for us) and order some food. Things are finally taking a turn for the better, or that's what we hope. No points for guessing who comes walking in. The parking lot crazy. Imagine my delight when he starts walking into the kitchen. Maybe a minute passes. I hear yelling from the kitchen, and this lunatic and some other guy are screaming at each other. Judging from the name his interlocutor kept using, crazy guy's name is Lando or Larry or something like that. Lando/Larry is screaming about how he doesn't want to make the food! It was like something out of Kitchen Nightmares. Server Autumn at least was pretty apologetic to me and my wife, and attempted to distract us from the sounds of World War 3 coming back from the kitchen. I suppose it was a little heartwarming to see that someone there was actually capable of doing their damn job. Oh, this bears mentioning. We ordered burgers. Simple right? I wish! Oh my God how I wish it had been as simple it should have been! The burgers come out burned to hell and back and hard enough to stop a bullet. They looked like hockey pucks! Tasted like them too. At least our waitress was fast with the refills so we could drink enough sweet tea to keep us alive for the truck stop sandwiches that would have to be our dinner tonight since our South Park experience was a complete and utter failure. My advice to weary travelers? If you stop at South Park, run in, tip the waiters, then get out without ordering a bite. It's better that way, trust me. And maybe convince the people of Arkansas to invest in some rehab services-- nobody's stomach rumbles when you've got to contend with some tweaked out crazy person looking like he might shiv you in the parking lot. Then burning your food like it's the evidence that leads back to his meth lab. Gerald C, signing off.

The food portions were very generous and flavorful. Although I feel the dinner salad was a little lacking Overall would definitely go back!

He mentioned Sisters' Savory Kitchen and that they are strictly grab-n-go and that sounded like the best option to fill out our meal options for a few days. Also, in quickly checking out their website and social media (because no Yelp reviews yet), I was super excited by all of the classic Southern options on the menu. They offer lunch (hot and cold) specials Monday-Friday from 11 am - 2 pm and anything from their ready-to-eat or -bake options, from appetizers to main dishes to sides, during their full business hours. (Pop in on their social media for regular updates and daily specials.) Post-walk at the lake, we picked up sandwiches and some selections to enjoy over multiple days. My mom got their chicken salad with fresh fruit and my cousin and I both got their special of the day which was turkey, swiss, sprouts, cream cheese, and sunflower seeds with a side of marinated veggies. The sandwich was delicious and I loved the fresh and crunchy broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots with a tangy marinade. Everything was enthusiastically enjoyed by all. From the fridge/freezer we got: - Chicken and Dumplings - Twice Baked Potatoes - Cheese Grits - Pimento Cheese Everything was plenty for multiple meals. We served the potatoes and grits with homemade meatloaf and cole slaw one night and with homemade fried green tomatoes another. Every bite was so delicious and comforting, as it should be.

Brown's Catfish in Russellville, Arkansas - A Local Gem with a Buffet That'll Win You Over (Even If…read moreYou're Not a Buffet Person) We stumbled across Brown's Catfish in Russellville after hearing some good things and decided to give it a shot. My wife loves catfish. I, on the other hand, have a soft spot for buffets--mostly because I like a little bit of everything and a lot of the desserts. Normally, my wife avoids buffets like they're haunted, but after checking out some photos and hearing the buzz, even she was curious. So, next time we were in town, we made a stop. First thing we noticed: this place was packed. It felt like all of Russellville had shown up for dinner--but that's usually a good sign. Even with the crowd, the place was impressively clean. The staff was on top of it--constantly wiping things down, restocking, and making sure everything looked fresh. They even had gloves available at the buffet, which was a nice touch. Now, onto the food--which is really why you're here, right? The buffet lineup is stacked. There's a full salad bar for those trying to make their plate look balanced before diving into fried deliciousness. Sides included southern staples like corn on the cob, candied carrots, beans, and a solid gumbo. The entrée station had different styles of catfish (including Cajun and regular), shrimp, crab cakes, and chicken strips. Sometimes they even serve chicken on the bone if you catch them at the right time. Dessert? Let's just say the four major buffet food groups were represented: warm cobbler, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and soft-serve ice cream. My wife basically fell in love with the cinnamon rolls and now refers to them as "worth the trip alone." The inside is cozy and decked out with plenty of southern decor to look at while you try to justify going back for a third plate. There's lots of seating, and even though it was busy, it never felt cramped--which is a big win in my book, since I'm not exactly small and appreciate a little elbow room when going after fried catfish. The service was top-notch. Friendly staff, quick to refill drinks and clear plates, and just all-around attentive. You can tell they take pride in the place, and it shows. Now, I'll be honest--every review needs one tiny critique. The chicken tenders were a bit on the chewy side, and not just once. We've been there three or four times now, and it's always the same. Not undercooked, just... chewy. My son, a self-declared chicken tender expert, confirmed it too. It could be the cooking temp or the type of chicken they're using, but it's a minor flaw in an otherwise fantastic spread. Bottom line: Brown's Catfish is a must-stop if you're in Russellville. It's a locally-loved spot that lives up to the hype. My wife, the buffet skeptic, is now a full-on believer--and every time we're in town, she's the one asking to go back. Between the catfish, the cinnamon rolls, and the warm hometown feel, Brown's is officially in our rotation. Support your local spots--especially the ones that serve catfish this good.

The catfish filets were good and hush puppies cooked well and the green tomato relish was not bad. I would certainly eat here again. Our server took good care of us keeping our glasses full and table cleared. We all left happy and full.
