Wonderful family owned business. Fresh flavorful food. We are really glad we stopped here

Top is the chimichanga then the awesome carne asada street tacos and the taco salad

Being from CA, I can't say I usually choose Mexican food in smaller towns, but the first win for El Molcajete was that it was open on New Year's Day. The second win was the sweet servers. We ordered the taco salad with chicken (reliable and yummy), chimichanga with chicken (pretty good) and the carne asada street tacos (WOW ). My husband loves spicy salsa and upon request, the staff brought out a sauce that I KNEW would please - I was right. We truly enjoyed the friendly, classic taco shop vibe and delicious food. If we ever come thru again, this will be a place we stop!

I've eaten a lot of nasty food but this restaurant really takes the cake. Our regular Mexican restaurant closed before we got to town today so we decided to try another one. Big mistake, McDonald's would have been better. We walked in, we weren't greeted first off, should have turned around right then but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. A waitress walked over and brought us all 6 inches to the booth directly next to the door in a near empty restaurant. We ordered cheese dip to go with the salsa since the salsa was pretty sad looking, the kicker? The cheese dip was cold. We ordered a burrito and a chimichanga, in comparison to the chimichanga I normally order at La Chiquita it was a quarter of the size if not more and more expensive! If you want Mexican food in Clarksville I highly recommend the la Chiquita down the road.

Love the beef chimichanga here! Great food. The management could stand to be a little more friendly but the food is usually great!

Great street tacos for $1. Depending in your hunger level 2-6 make a full meal (I'm a big eater so…read moreeat 2 as a snack or 4-6 as a meal). I've tried almost all of them. Being a beef lover,my favorite is the carne asada. These are some of the best Mexican street tacos. They come standard on small corn tortillas. Heaps of meat, raw cilantro y cebolla, and red &/or green salsa on the side. They make the tacos to order. Sometimes it takes 5-8 minutes, sometimes longer, but in the dozen times I've eaten there I've never waited more than 20 mins. If you want tasteless crunchy tacos done quick eat that mierda at Taco Bell.) That said, as a small business they do occasionally close without notice. If you love cheese and avocado and want something different try the Sopes. Two will do. Crazy corn if you love and miss elotes.

Chicken, beef and al pastor were all great! We ordered a little side of beans and rice for our 2 year old and they were both authentic and delicious. We will definitely be back! We did try to order more tacos after finishing our 6 but no one is at the window. It was no big deal, we just decided to head home.. we prob didn't need more because I could've eaten 10 lol P.S. yes the tacos are tiny. They're supposed to be! They're authentic street tacos. Anyone complaining about this in Clarksville has apparently never been outside the city

We both elected to get carne asada fries, a favorite from when we lived in SoCal (for me). Andrea ordered hers just how the menu had it listed, and I added cilantro and jalapeños. There was a picnic bench to the right of the food truck which accommodated us until our food was ready, which took about 10 minutes. When we got back to our truck we opened up the styrofoam containers. Since these were both served with red and/or green sauces, I poured mine on liberally. There was copious amounts of chopped cilantro as well as good amount of jalapeños. I couldn't see the fries as they were completely covered in goodness!! The meat was not at all skimped on, there was plenty of cheese, and the homemade fry amount was about perfect. Andrea wanted to try hers without the green sauce that she had requested. She said she felt the meat was too "tangy" for her tastebuds. I didn't notice that at all, but then again I think the cilantro and sauces might've helped. She then poured her green sauce over her order and she said it did indeed help. She couldn't, however, finish the meat in her order and gave it to me. She was able to finish her order otherwise. While my order was absolutely delicious I couldn't eat it all. It was just too much food, so I'll have it for lunch tomorrow or dinner tonight. I would definitely get this again, but I think I'd like to try the carne asada nachos next time with their homemade chips!
