No judgment, just learning, growth, and real skill-building. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and wants you to walk out READY...not nervous. Having not done…read moreany math or standardized tests in over 8 years, Ryan managed to teach me math fundamentals until we were eventually practicing advanced functions. After working with Ryan, my GRE scores went up by over 8 points, which is a huge feat for someone with extreme test anxiety. Not only was Ryan an excellent communicator throughout the process, but I felt like he was fully on my team for making me improve my scores. Ryan created a completely tailored program built especially for me to tackle my weaknesses and give me the best study practices. Going into the year, I had no idea whether to take the ACT or the SAT and he helped guide me in a path that lead me to the most success. I ended up primarily studying for the ACT and took the SAT a few times toward the end of the year, and he had great tricks and access to excellent study tools to help me and give me a lot of practice. The workbook that Marks Education has created is so helpful and full of all the information you need for the test. Incredibly well thought out! He also gave me actual ACT and SATs to give me practice so that when I walked into the test I knew what to expect. He also had awesome packets and review materials, as well as previous AP tests to help me prepare for the AP tests I took Ryan gave me confidence in an area that is hard to feel confident about. He always motivated me, and knew how to help me in areas that I was struggling in. Ryan was an amazing tutor, but he also went the extra mile to check in with me and keep up with the other things I had going on in my life. He was a part of my team junior year, and I am so thankful for all of his help.

The testing room I was in had three - four desks that were all close together. Luckily I was the only test taker at the time so I was not distracted by another person. I arrived early for the exam and was able to start testing right away. I found the setup to be slightly uncomfortable - the chair/desk height was off and found myself to be slightly distracted by my discomfort during the exam. That said, the facility has a lot of availability for exams. I would take another exam at this facility as long as it is 90 minutes or less. Anything longer and I would look for a more comfortable spot.

However, I just have to give a warning for those of you out there who are HEALTHCARE professionals looking for a renewal class. DO NOT take this class at this school, especially with the instructor Cathy!! I am sure outside of class that Cathy is a nice enough lady, but she was the worst instructor I had ever had and I have been taking CPR for HC professionals for years in various locations. Her teaching style leaves a lot to be desired as she uses public humiliation to get her point across. Case in point, she makes every participant demonstrate in front of everyone until she is satisfied with your technique. And if you can't get it right, she will chastise you in front of your peers. Furthermore, her class is INCREDIBLY too long - we began at 830am sharp and I did not leave her class until after 130pm...and I was one of the first to be done with my written skills test. I am just sorry for those who took longer to complete the test! Adding to the incredibly long class, she took 45 minutes in the beginning of class for housekeeping....."signature here, signature there, wash your hands, let us all introduce us to each other, blah...blah" The class room is also in a very claustrophobic location, the ceiling was so low that I could touch it (I'm 5'4") and it has no windows. We also had no breaks aside from one 5 minute break for water and granola bars - which she provided, which was nice of her. But to top it off, she did not have us watch the usual video from the American Heart Association as she claimed the "machine was broken." When one of my fellow students offered up his laptop to show the DVD, she refused. I think she just wanted to hear herself drone on and on. This class took up almost my entire Saturday and went at a snail's pace for all of us who have taken the class before (i.e. renewers). I can't recommend this class as it was not a good example of a AHA sponsored class that usually takes 3 hours, tops! Avoid if possible.

I've renewed my PALS/BLS certification many times over the past 15 or so years, and this was one of…read morethe best experiences. The AHA heartcode online portion has been updated since the last time I renewed 2 years ago. I found the format much easier to follow and learn from. When I was done, I was able to quickly schedule a "virtual skills session" through Bayside. The instructor was clear and concise, tested and reviewed the key pieces of information, and was professional while being approachable. I will be renewing through here from now on. I've already referred colleagues!
