We were looking for somewhere near the half way point (preferably along the mighty Mississippi) to stop for the night. We came across the lovely Neumeyer Bed and Breakfast in charming Cape Girardeau. This bed and breakfast really met and surpassed our expectations. The Neumeyer's are really the nicest couple that you'll ever meet. They lovingly restored their century old bungalow home to near museum condition. There is a gorgeous butterfly garden in the front yard, and the rooms for rent are very cute. They provided us with great conversation and a very yummy filling breakfast. While the actual town of Cape Girardeau was quite small it was still charming. There isn't a whole day's worth of things to do there, but certainly you could fill at least half a day with all of the antique shops downtown.
