I came here today as a walk-in for a tattoo I've wanted for a while (also my first tattoo). Ricky helped out from placement to advice what I should and shouldn't do with my tattoo. And I couldn't be more satisfied (especially since I've seen pictures online of other tattoo artist mess up thin lines). The staff here is also super friendly, joking and comforting which makes getting a tattoo such a fun experience from beginning to end! The staff and Ricky are also super cautious about keeping everything clean from their own workstations to the restrooms and the sitting/waiting area. I can't wait to come back here for my next tattoo!!

We've been coming to Bold Stroke for about a year now and I'm so happy with the work we've had done. Blanca (@blnnk on instagram) not only has beautiful work, but always takes the extra steps to make sure you're getting exactly what you want. I've had really dainty pieces and lettering done by her and my boyfriend has had some more bold/traditional styles, she can really do everything. My year old tattoos look just as clean as the day I got them. The environment is so welcoming, it always feels like you're hanging out with friends when you're there. I always recommend bold stroke to my friends and anyone who's looking to get some quality work done.

He doesn't work at the shop but tattooed on Friday the 13 (he called himself one of the owners 'second in charge') n did a horrendous job on my flash tattoo. he was throwing shade at the other tattoo artist for taking their time . Took it as a lesson to see their past work before sitting in the chair. Don't ask for Ninja , he's a creep and doesn't care about the work only for the money.

His lines were extra crispy and he even gave me some balm to take home! 100000/10 recommend him. I think him being so gentle made the healing process less of a bitch compared to normal. Had an appointment with the great Gabriella! I ran across her instagram page, and used the number she put in her bio to set appointment. She replied fast and was so sweet!!!!! We booked for Saturday, 4:30. I needed to push the time so we agreed on 5:30, which was an easy process!! I arrived and was in awe at the shop set up. Sooooooo tight it's located close to bishop arts, very easy to park as well. Gabriella was working on tattoo but was able to stop and greet me. Soon after we got started. I loveeee my tattoo and she made the environment calm. She's cool. Definitely going back!!!

I wanted my conch pierced and I searched for a couple days before I chose this place. They almost have 700 reviews on Google and a 4.9 rating. That's not easy to do for any business with that many reviews. This was conveniently close to where I live (about 10 minutes). The average cost of a conch piercing ranges from $45-76 depending on where you go. There was another well known piercing shop in Dallas I called first and they told me $76 PER ear and I decided I would shop around before deciding. This past Wednesday I called Bold Stroke and Alizè told me "We have a Wednesday special, conch piercings are $20 each!" I was excited and a bit leery at the same time, so I asked her how experienced was the piercer and she said he had over 20 years experience. They only do walk ins for this deal so I brought my happy ass down there and got both sides pierced. They use surgical steel and they show you the earrings first and you can decide if you'd like gold instead (which I believe costs more but I didn't ask about the price because as soon as he said the gold piercing had a thicker gauge I declined lol). He sterilized the area with a wipe and then pierced me with his needle. The first one on my left ear wasn't very painful maybe a 5/10. But my right ear was an 8/10. He said it was because I didn't exhale when he did my right ear, I'm sure he was right. But Juan made this experience a very good one for me. I'll be back again for sure! I went to get my septum pierced on Wednesday September 11, and I'm honestly so disappointed with the service. The guy seemed cool and all, but I noticed the piercing was out of place. The jewelry was not even centered. I privately messaged them on Instagram the next day and explained to them my problem. They left me on read just to reply back a few hours later... they told me to go back, and I declined because I didn't want to take the risk again. The day I went in, I had to wait 2 hours to get the piercing, so I will not go back. I understand it can get busy but 2.5 hours seems a little too much when only 2 or 3 people were ahead of me. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but I don't think the situation was handled professionally. read more

Awesome place. I've now gotten 3 out of my 7 tattoos from Bold Strokes, each one from a different artist, and I'm never disappointed. My sister has also gotten some of her tattoos here as well as a nose piercing. I've been tattooed by Hakishi, Gabriella, and Luis. All 3 were super friendly and professional, and all 3 gave me exactly what I had in mind for my tattoos. Luis also does piercings, and I had a really bad infection from a cartilage piercing I'd gotten a couple years ago. The earring was literally stuck inside the swollen part of my cartilage (yum!) and he got it out pain-free (and also for free). They are also always having really great deals, too (you can find the deals on their Instagram and Facebook pages). Examples being $40 2x2 tattoos, $10 piercings, etc. They charge a very small fee for paying by CC, so I'd either bring cash or if you really don't care, they accept card! (I think it was either like $5 or 5%, but I really can't remember...lol.) If you're looking to get a new tat/piercing in the future, definitely check this place out. read more

Went in for a tattoo only to be overpriced by a tattooer named Juan and my bf asked to see his work and the artist got offended I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he still proceeded to only try to tattoo some of it then caught his attitude when I asked where the rest of the drawing is then at checkout tried to say it was going to be 180 when we agreed to 150. Wouldn't come back. read more

The women up front said that it wouldn't be the best jewelry for my forward helix piercing an I was convinced to get another piece (so it was jewelry AND Change out I paid for that day) The jewelry was cute but was a pain to sleep on (the lady at the counter said that MY initial piece would be uncomfortable and hurt to sleep on!) I ended up taking it out after a month (I waited too long for the 21 free day return to apply) Ultimately I went back for what I ORIGINALLY-wanted on this second trip. It was $15 for a change out with the stud jewelry I purchased online. I believe the lady at the counter was just trying to upsell me on my first visit. I'll be back because a forward helix is extremely hard to chg out jewelry but I'll be firm that a change out is all I want. Oh, and purchase jewelry on their website! It's so much cheaper!!

If you've seen Billyjack's Instagram page you know the man can do some pretty fabulous, complicated pieces so my stuff wasn't exactly anything that was automatically going to get his artistic juices flowing. And that's what I love about Billyjack. Even on when you give him a fairly simple concept, he'll make sure he makes it more and special. The most important thing he does in my opinion though is that he acts like a partner or a consultant, not just an artist who's going to execute the design you bring him. My experience down in New Orleans with the other shop was one where it was kind of like "whatever you want, man". I didn't need that, I needed a strong guiding hand and that's what I got with Billyjack. I threw out some ideas and he pretty much said what would and wouldn't work and then expanded on what would. Oh, and he's a blast to talk with. How many tattoos have you had where you and the artist have covered: dogs, kids (OK, those first 2 are pretty easy), rent relief policies during COVID and Roth IRA's. And laughing the whole time.

Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience at all. The artist who worked on me seemed inexperienced, and the process didn't match what I was told. What should have taken around 30 minutes was discussed as taking several hours, which already felt off. In the end, I was charged $200 for a cover-up that I'm extremely unhappy with--especially since it's on my face. To make matters worse, the artist didn't follow through on what was promised. He said he would work on two tattoos but only did one, and even then, it wasn't what I asked for. I specifically wanted a design resembling stitches, but instead I was left with a large black feather on my head that I deeply regret. The environment also felt unprofessional. The staff came across as dismissive and made me feel judged for the tattoo ideas I wanted, which added to an already negative experience. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and unhappy with both the service and the final result. I would not recommend this shop. Are there any tattoo shops in the area willing to help fix a bad face tattoo once it heals? I'm worried it might scar, and I'm trying to figure out my options. If anyone has experience with cover-ups or thinks removal would be a better route, please let me know. I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations--this is something I'm stressing about and want to fix the right way. I'm not trying to bash the entire shop, because there seemed to be some talented artists there. However, I do want to warn others about my experience with one specific artist. The artist I worked with--whose name may be Ivan or Isaac--came across as confident, but in my opinion did not demonstrate the level of knowledge or experience I expected. For example, when I asked about certain techniques like blood shading, he didn't seem to understand what I was referring to. That raised concerns for me about his training and experience. Again, this does not reflect everyone at the shop, but based on my experience, I would personally not recommend working with that particular artist.
