We really love this place for the most part but it's gotten so expensive for just a quarter pound burger without fries or without anything is really expensive now and it's cheaper now to go to Phil's BBQ for a better Burger. I love the fact that they have things for kids to do in there I love the fact that they support their community but.... The prices have just gotten to be crazy. And it must be showing because the waitresses haven't been as friendly as they have been in the past same group just not as happy as they used to be so I'm sure it's kind of catching up with them either lack of business because of the pricing now or just because people can't afford to go out anymore I guess. Whatever happened to the days we used to just go and order a burger and get fries with it included? I think Bully's East has a burger, fries and beer for under $15 still... This place reminds me of a Fuddruckers but not that great. This place needs a remodel and some TLC. It's really dark inside and unappealing. The food is okay, it's nothing special. I had the mushroom avocado burger and it was almost $14. It tasted like a regular burger to me. Their "frings" were really dried and kind of hard to eat, I could taste more oil drippings than the actual product. EDIT: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE LAKESIDE BOLL WEEVIL, NOT RAMONA Okay please forgive the graphic nature of this review but I think this needs to be posted even though I feel bad doing it. My wife and I went to The Weevil tonight for a burger and some frings like we do every so often. We sat at our usual booth with the seat that looks like rats ate it and it has been this way forever. We expect this. The Weevil has clearly been neglected by ownership for years but again, we know this going in. What I did not expect when I visited the restroom was a piece of clearly used TP (#2) staring at me from the floor in front of the toilet. I took a step back and thought "well it was raining yesterday, maybe it's mud". Nope. I let a waitress know what I discovered and she said "yeah we know, we will get it". Good. Clearly I was not the first person to see this. Next thing you know a guy from the kitchen goes into the restroom to "get it" and then goes back to the cook line. Out of morbid curiosity I go back into the restroom and see that the soiled TP has been moved...to the trash can right on top!!! No trash can liner. The floor still has a nasty residual wet stain to let you know bad things happened here. I almost don't want to attach these photos but maybe, just maybe a health inspector or someone who cares will see this and shut this place down for a good inspection and deep cleaning. I feel bad for the workers that have to put up with this. Whoever owns this place get your act together or sell the business out of common decency. Boll Weevils have been in San Diego since 1967 and on this visit, although famous for their Steer Burger, I was glad to learn that they still make a pretty good double cheese burger as well. We came here tonight for my daughter's team party . They were doing a fund raiser here for our league . I'm not sure how much boll weevil gave the league for eating food here tonight . But I always think that's cool when restaurants will donate money to leagues . We had a great time here tonight . The staff here are all very sweet and welcoming . My server Samantha was super cool and gave excellent customer service . Thanks Samantha ! They let the girls run wild and still smiled as they worked very hard serving us . I was actually super impressed how they kept smiling even though some of these kids were outta control . The food was good n greasy . They have a decent beer selection on draft . Visiting my family on the 4th of July, We were all craving burgers so we named all the normal burger chain restaurants. my cousins said we have the best burger & beer place in town! They come here all the time, Walked in before the dinner rush, nice place wish I have a boll weevils up here! The food! Was amazing! The beer was cold! The most horrible service by the server Shiloh tonight. We will never be back!! She was rude, got mad we came in 30 minutes prior to closing & started laughing at our group. The other employee I asked who the manager was & the other server said oh Shiloh is then started laughing. How disrespectful & rude can someone be. Today I went in for lunch and normally the ladies are so nice! However, today Cindy waited on us and she was RUDE! I watched as another customer asked for something and she threw her head back in frustration that they needed something. When asking for a straw she first looked around our table then rolled her eyes before putting the straws on the table. Veggie burgers, other types of burgers (sorry it's been a while), nachos, fries, onion rings, etc. They were the best thing I had on their menu. There was no one there so we got seated right away. I got a Turkey burger which wasn't awesome but the corn nuggets were truly a hit on our table. 4 stars just for the corn nuggets! Unfortunately I'm giving Boll Weevil 3 stars because I dont think I'll be coming back just because it's about a 45 minute drive into Lakeside and I'm never really in the area and that's the only thing on the menu that I enjoyed. If I passed by another closer Boll Weevil, I'd definitely go again for the corn nuggets! I was a security guard at the Union bank in Santee for 8months from Sept 2020 to May 2021. I met Vic the owner of this Boll Weevil and had the pleasure of becoming friends with him as I saw him daily at the bank. He was so kind to always bring donuts & candy & bundt cakes for the bank employees & he used to always bring an extra one for me. He invited me to come to have lunch at his restaurant & I finally went last Saturday with my friend. He came to say hello to us & our lunch was on the house. My friend had a yummy patty melt with onion rings. We both had yummy potato skins. I had a big fish sandwich and a small salad. His staff was also very sweet to us.
