I would go out on a limb here and say that you will find it incredibly hard to say a bad word about the Bombay Cottage. The staff are very professional and polite, the restaurant itself is cosy and comfortable, and tastefully decorated and the food is worthy of my five star rating. My boyfriend and I went here at the weekend with his family for dinner. It was a Friday night and really busy. As we stepped in the door, the waiter greeted us, took our jackets and led us to our seats, even placing my napkin over my knee! The waiters could not have been more attentive and made sure we had drinks and menus. We ordered the sharing platter which was 12.99 and meant for two people. It came on a silver platter and was more than enough for the 4 of us! The chicken tikka was tender and moist, probably the best I have ever tasted. The platter also came with a selection of pakoras including chicken and fish, which I loved. The mango chutney was sweet and thick with huge chunks of mango in it and the poppadoms were crispy and delicious. We were all full to the brim before the main meals arrived! I had ordered a Chicken Tikka Garam Masala and we had rice and nann to share. When it arrived it didn't look like a lot of food but it was! It had a lovely rich, spicy sauce and tasted just on the right side of burnt, which was the chicken tikka cooked on charcoal coming through. Delicious. We didn't even bother looking at the sweet menu! We were all so full we just needed a lie down! As we were leaving, the waiter brought over a red rose for me and the other woman at the table, which was a lovely touch! The best Indian I have ever been to! Not the cheapest, but then you don't mind paying extra when you get value for money, and this place definitely delivers.

As a self-confessed curry connoisseur and possible addict I can confidently state that Indian…read moreVilla, on the tongue-twisting Windmillhill Street in Motherwell, is one of the best Indians you will find in the Glasgow area, a bold claim considering Glasgow is home to the best curries in Britain. The waiter who served on us all night knew an astonishing amount about the items on the menu and even helped to give advice on what to get, listing the main ingredients and flavours of meals, similar meals to give us an idea of something we hadn't tried, spiciness levels, and even how much rice to get so that we didn't end up ordering way too much. Subsequently we just about managed to devour everything on the table and none of us were left wanting for anything. The restaurant is just one ambient room, with dimmed lights and elegant presentation but it isn't huge, so on a weekend it may be an idea to book in advance, especially given the quality of the food. Unfortunately Wednesday nights didn't seem to be too popular as we were one of just two sets of customers. I would, however, recommend this curryhouse to anyone and everyone regardless of how many people visit it on weeknights. Two sets of customers came in to pick up orders, and if you are in Motherwell and fancy a take-away I would urge you to ring Indian Villa instead of just heading to the nearest take-away. Price-wise it wouldn't be much more and taste-wise there is no contest. Very presentable eating area, surprisingly knowledgable and friendly staff, and incredible food make this a top, top curryhouse.

Went to our local Indian restaurant with a friend. Had my…read moreusual starter of pakora of which I am very fond. It is just spicy enough for me without being a mouth tingle. I am usually a "korma" girl but decided to try the Chicken Tikka Massala. Nothing ventured, nothing gained was my thinking but I did gain. Hotter than my usual korma but thoroughly enjoyed it. Rice and Peshwari Naan great as usual. Had a beer with a touch of lemonade, ok 2, (not driving) and they went down a treat. Enjoyed the food and look forward to another visit.

Ian agreed with great enthusiam. Yay! It's about less than 10 minutes away from me, so we were there in no time. Arrived no problem and we noticed they had a car park round the back. Car parked and ready for food. It was fairly busy for a Wed evening, few couples and a wee party of 6. Ordered our drinks and the waiter explained how the buffet works as we hadn't been before. We helped ourselves to the pile of poppadoms with a fab choice of different sauces. There were some really lovely flavours and poppadoms were really tasty. Our starter to share soon arrived and it was a really good mix and it was delicious flavours. I think they should add fish pakora to the mix and I think it would be perfect. Nom! As it was a buffet we headed up to the hot plate/cabinet things. It started from rice, mild curries up to spicy. I had some white rice and oooh the pilau rice. That was the most delectable pilau rice I've ever had. I piled on some chicken korma and chasni, it looked so creamy and smooth. When we returned to our table there was a big fresh warm naan bread sitting ready for us. I thought that was a really nice touch, a lovely wee surprise as I was looking for the naans. The food tastied amazing, the korma and chasni were scrumptious and the pilau rice really complimented it. For the third course of the buffet we were offfered ice cream or coffee. Ian had a coffee and I squeezed in a cheeky wee ice cream with strawberry sauce. It finished off the meal perfectly. I'm so glad I remembered here and I would certainly come back. I didn't know about all the publicity about the place and the award winning chef but after tasting the food I can see why. Yum!

The veg pakora and the chicken tikka karahi were nice however the Chicken tikka masala was a creamy slightly pink colour and had a funny floral taste. Unfortunately the pilau rice was the brown kind rather than the bright yellow saffron rice also it was overly fragrant, again like a flowery perfume, which didn't go well with the curry dishes. The garlic naan was a bit thin for some reason. The main prob though was after the meal I felt really bloated that night and next day my stomach didn't feel great, feels like fighting off something, so not sure if I would order again.
