I always wanted to try Bon Ga for a very long time. I walked by it couple times. Also it is not my first time to notice that this restaurant exists in the Glenmore area. We came here for lunch during the Covid times (on December 31, 2020). I called beforehand to make sure that they are open. The owner picked up the phone and asked me what time I will be showing up. I told him that I will head there now. He then proceeded and asked me how many people and my name. No he didn't take down my phone number so I am guessing he probably wrote it down on a piece of paper. But regardless, we were the only people dining inside. The reason why the owner asked for our name was so that he could set up 2 tables. A high-top and regular dining table. We got the option to pick which table we wanted to sit at. We ordered two dishes to share. We got the Galibi BBQ ($24) and the Grilled Pork Belly ($19) to share. The Galibi BBQ came with rice and a small dish of sides. The Grilled Pork Belly came with lettuce, dipping sauce, rice and a small dish of sides. The food was very delicious but not wow. I found the portion size a bit small and also their prices are much more higher than their competitors in Kelowna. For example their Kimbap is $10 for a roll and their competitor charges $7.95 for a roll. This goes with every item on the menu. On top, their sides are not free refills like many other Korean restaurants. Note that they are not located downtown too. So most of their customers are local / neighboring residence in the area. We came during Covid times. So note that this places charges for tap water. On top, they will only roll the food out in a cart and you will have to serve yourself. This is a family ran business. The restaurant is not big. The husband of this restaurant is the waiter and cashier. The wife of this restaurant is the chef. So in the entire restaurant there are only two people working. There are free parking out in the front. Is this restaurant worth coming to try, you ask me? Well it is nothing special and also with the prices it charges, I wouldn't make a special trip here. The food is authentic. Was I full after the meal. The answer was not really. If this restaurant was in Vancouver, I would give it 3 stars. Travelling through BC Interior gives us a chance to experience a lot of family owned small restaurants, a change to all the national or provincial chain restaurants we are all too familiar with. Bon Ga is another example of the whole family pitching in, the husband and wife team is the backbone of this tiny restaurant, the setting is also very homey with round tables spreading throughout the space. I have to say interior decor is not their strength, you are there mostly for the food. Dinner items: Pork Bone Soup: their version seems to vary from time to time as I reviewed the photos from fellow Yelpers, some has more vegetable then others and in my case none! Anyways, I did not complain to the boss, as I know its hard to keep everything on hand when you have such a small staff. Flavour-wise, it is a bit salty for my taste but the pork bones are done perfectly. Sundubu Jjigae: This is the better out of the 2 soups, with a more rounded flavour, the tofu is pretty good considering you are in Kelowna and cannot get all the fresh offerings in Vancouver. Still a solid soft tofu soup. Their banchan is very simple and homey as well, most items here are not spicy at all, as we did ask for our soups to be spicy, but they came out pretty blend. All in all, I would still say this is a home style Korean restaurant that you can drop in and feel like going to a friend's home for dinner more then going to a restaurant! read more

Came here last night with my fiancé and his cousin. They're both Korean and enjoy this place. I'm not the biggest fan since I'm vegan, they don't have many options for me. I'd rate it a 3.5 We ordered: gyozas, chicken teriyaki, spicy cold noodles and vegetable udon. My fiancé and his cousin both really enjoyed their dishes. My vegetable udon, where are the veggies! Would've been so much better with way more veggies and less udon noodles. Service is good. Family owned and run business, husband and wife team. Looks like the wife cooks and the husband serves. Wow, what an amazing authentic Korean restaurant! Some of the best Korean food I've had in my life. The service is amazing, the food is reasonably priced and tastes amazing. I had the Hot Bone Soup - Pork spine, vegetables, green onion and hot pepper. I've never had hot bone soup before, but I love eating and trying different things. It was absolutely amazing. The dish is served with the bone, and the meat just falls off. Superbly cooked. So flavorful. It's basically another part of the rib. The broth was amazing. Great flavor development. But it's *super* spicy. I had a tingle on my tongue for a solid 15 minutes after I had finished eating. I even had a runny nose! I almost had a drop of sweat on my forehead! They did not ask for a spiciness level, so be aware!!! read more

Excellent place for authentic Korean food at reasonable price. The usuals are excellent--bimbimbap (stone pot rice and vegetable dish), bugogi (Korean bbq), and seafood pancake. What was especially nice was also the pork bone soup, which has a kick to it but was definitely the winner for the meal. Definitely worth coming back for more!! read more

Having lived in Korea for 6 years, I can confidently give Bon Ga four stars. I'd like to start off by complimenting the owners for their service. The husband of the couple team greeted us at the door then helped us put baby into a highchair . He then explained the dishes as he served them ( which we didn't require...but how was he suppose to know I lived in Korea? ) We ordered Galbi which was so rich in flavor and meat off the bone delicious, as well as Kimchi Chije (stew) which I ate on a daily basis when I lived in Seoul, and a Seafood pancake. Of course nothing can taste as authentic as it may in the actual country of origin when it requires such specific ingredients, but it was very very close to the real thing. I'd like to add that the price is very affordable and there is ample parking. The decor is of a typical, non superficial restaurant in Korea who doesn't care because it's all about the food anyway look. The reason I have not given Bon Ga 5 stars is because I prefer to bbq the meat myself at the table BUT this may be due to a bylaw which of course is non negotiable. I will eat here again! read more

We were very surprised Its very authentic, great services and AWESOME foods. We are too excited to eat & forgot to take more pictures LOL. All U can say its Awesome. The only thing we recommend is more numbered pictures in the menu for easier ordering. We will come back again before we leave Kelowna. read more

This place easily deserves 5 stars. I ate here with my family on the Monday of a long weekend. The sign out front says open until 8:30. We where there until almost 9 and didn't even realize. The owner was amazing and the food was perfect. I eat a lot of Korean food living in Vancouver and having a Korean roommate, this restaurant is right up there with the best. Prices are fair for Korean also. Being a local spot my parents will be ordering from there again and I will recommend to people I know! Give it a shot!! read more

Best Korean food even compared to most restaurants I've been to in Vancouver and Edmonton! The flavours were so good! I had the spicy pork and my hubby had the bulgogi. Lots of meat and they didn't fill the dish with veggies to skimp on meat. I was surprised they didn't give kimchi but when I asked they did bring some out. They also gave pieces of seafood pancake as part of their free side dishes which is unheard of since its quite an expensive item on Korean restaurant menus. Can't wait to go back and try many other dishes! I hope they are here to stay! read more
