We have been to this pub on many occasions over the years. Yet again another small business that has lost our support. We have tried several things and just can't believe you can serve shitty food and still expect customers to support your business. First, the wings - used to be good, but now they are serving something that is about the size of a baby chicken wing, seriously, i have never seen anything so small! kinda disturbing. Second, the nacho's we had asked the size because we wanted to share a dish for three people. the owner said don't worry, be ok for you. well, sadly mistaken, the order was one of the smallest i've seen, i could have eaten them all! why do cooks not layer the cheese on the chips underneath as well as on top.? it seems everyone is cutting corners on portions sizes but want to charge you premium price, well, another small business to not support. read more

This place is a TOTAL HOLE IN THE WALL!!!! But the service is amazing, the wings and meatballs are delicious and it's always busy with locals. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves wing night! read more

An evening out for dinner with my son is a big deal..he's got heath issues & I'm a senior. Money doesn't flowly freely for either of us. He's on Aish & I'm on pension. We wanted a nice quiet dinner w decent food. He ordered a chef salad as he doesn't get healthy greens often...I wanted a nice steak sandwich as I don't own a BBQ. We were both very disappointed in our meals. I sent the steak back as it was over cooked & all grizzle. Owner annoyed I wasn't happy w meal. I asked for fries & gravy..second meal..no gravy... & disgusting fries both times...seriously how hard is it to make fries?... the ONLY part of the meal that was presentable was the garlic toast...I'm a pretty good cook myself & my son's was a chef when he could work. Why do restaurants feel this is acceptable customer service? Never going back & I'd suggest you spend your hard earned money elsewhere too. read more

I admitI admit I judged this restaurant bar from a far for years. It's not much to look at from the outside but the wings were great and cheap. The pizza was amazing. The staff was friendly. I've lived around the corner for years. Wish I would have gone sooner. read more

I will start by saying that this review is for their second restaurant located on 36th St SE, and not the one on Edmonton trail. And with that said here we go.. I will never go back into this place again. This was the second time I tried the place and both times were equally terrible for different reasons. The first time I went in for dinner with a friend and my first impression of the place was that it looked like a half decent place to grab a drink and a meal. That opinion quickly went down hill when the fish and chips I ordered arrived deep fried to a burnt crisp. I spoke to the waitress and as my friend was already happily eating his meal and I knew the wait time for a fresh order was going to be over 20 minutes I declined a second order and asked that it simply be taken off the bill. The waitress was very friendly and understanding, and said it would be no problem and apologized for the over fried fish. 2 minutes later the owner came to my table, which I thought for a moment was fantastic, until I realized that she was standing there with my original plate that had just been taken back. She proceeded to try and convince me that the fish was fine and I was "Complaining too much" -She showed me proof that the fish was fine by taking in her hands and breaking it apart so I could see how nice it looked on the inside. Awesome. In the end they did take the fish and chips off the bill. Yay. So yeah, that was round one. Now for round two. I always try and give a place a second go. You never know, maybe I'll have a more positive experience and actually like the place after all. Sadly, this is a no for Bonasera. I was out watching the hockey game with friends and everything was going pretty good until the place started smelling like a sewer. I really don't know what happened, but I might as well have been drinking my beer out of a toilet, it honestly wasn't a deal breaker on the night and after about a half hour the smell did subside finally, but of course we were waiting for a pizza while this was going on. I was less than hungry when it arrived. That being said when it did arrive it looked pretty good. It was also $6.99 pizza and pasta night, also a bonus. Oh, except for one thing. When the pizza was ordered, even though I specifically said "I'd like the pizza special" and the waitress said "okay, what would you like on it?" I wound up with a full price $17.00 pizza. As it turns out, because I wanted a thin crust pizza, thin crust was not part of the special. Much to my surprise when I got the bill and asked why my pizza was $10 more than advertised. I expressed my concern on the oversight and she offered to get the manager, but fed up and not wanting to deal with the owner again after the first time I paid and left. The tried and true Bonasera! Awesome pizza and lasagna. And great wing nights, though I like the dry ribs more than the wings. This place has been around forever! It's a great neighbourhood pub with pool tables, TV's and food specials every day so there's always a decent food deal. They even do a mean steak, which is hard to find in little places like this. Don't expect a big range of beers on tap though! They only have 3 on tap, but they are served COLD and in a chilled glass. There's of bottled beer options in the cooler though. It's been 10 years since I have been in Bonasera and I recently came back because I am working two blocks away. Food here is awesome and the beer is cold. Don't really need more than that unless you like great pricing. Today (Friday), I had three pints of beer and a pepperoni pizza and it was $24. You can't beat that so close to the downtown core. Such a great casual homey place. Super friendly. Food is awesome and a groovy place to chill out and relax.

Seems nice enough for a little neighbourhood dive. But a pitcher of Kokanee gold will set you back $26... that's about $30 with tip for a little over three glasses (not full pints) of a relatively mediocre beer. Service was friendly but could only admit that it was a bad deal (especially when it turns out that you can buy beer by the glass for cheaper). Doesn't give you the impression that they know what they're doing. read more

Bonasera Pizza on Edmonton Ave NE delivered me a pizza on Sunday with a piece of glass in it. I bit into it and it broke the back piece of my tooth off. They are calling me a liar and will not deal with it in any way. The owners answer to me was because I didnt call until 24 hours later she doesnt believe me. I dont know about most people, but I tend not to eat a whole med pizza in one sitting. So when it happened last night and I called last night, I was told by the owners son that I would recieve a call from his mother or father the next day. Well that didnt happen. So I made the call myself and was called a liar and hung up on. I am not looking to make money. I just want my tooth fixed and paid for by them, Please do not order from them.
