Just like a Pub should be. Good pub food with some decent vegan and other dietary restricted patrons. Good place to watch the game, excellent steak sandwich specials on Saturday. Pretty good prices, but packed Thursday night for pizza special. Great staff. read more

New owners. Does that mean new cook too? Not enjoying the edamame any more. They came out "greasy" with no salt. They said it was from the beans. Nope. I've had them here lots. Never like this! I need a wet nap to get the grease off. Admit there's a mistake not say that's how the beans are...more greasy than the fries! read more

Great neighborhood Pub! hard to give a pub 5 stars, but there are no negatives. Great staff, great food (maybe the best pizza in town) , great beer line up, great TVS and management is all over getting the proper games on, warm atmosphere, clean, full of locals who are unpretentious and hold your breathe. ... a 20 oz pint of Beer for $6. Wish the owners would put some more effort into brunch. We ordered bacon and eggs and a poutine. The eggs were warm on the outside and cold on the inside on the first dish. On the second the cook hadn't bothered to read the menu to find out what went into the poutine. Was fried potatoes, eggs and hollandaise. Second time he put all the toppings under the eggs and did not put cheese on it (which is a basic ingredient of poutine) had a minuscule amount of cold bacon and for some reason a lot of water? Like maybe he didn't drain the poached eggs first? I wonder if he had ever had a proper breakfast poutine before? They should send their cook out to OEB to learn. The hollandaise was decent though. On the plus side the waitress was lovely and makes great drinks. They either need a new cook or to train theirs better though. They do a really good pizza, in future we'll stick to ordering that. read more

Another new set of owners. The place is generally decent enough. Typical sports pub. they are often trying new things to keep it intersting (painting days, 16 bit sundays, ectect). Nice to have a local pub as there is nothing else around to stumble home from. Place is often busy which is nice to see. Some staff are really great, and a few hate their life. Their pizza is LEGIT! The nachos are top shelf. It could stand to be a little cleaner, but i've seen worse. Thats me just being picky. But, i was there tonight, had dinner with the wifey, and I had an iced tea and they charge for refills, which seems petty. But speaking of petty, i'm here to complain about that, but especially since the one i paid for was ALL ICE! WTF Brixton! I live in the neighborhood so I was glad that a new establishment opened up in this strip mall as it is so desperately needed. Brixton's is a decent place. Good menu. Have been there for WINGS night several times - an excellent value! Its busy in there on Wings night though. Once I ordered the dumplings - that was a mistake. They are deep friend and I expected pan fried... not at all what I wanted, and not indicated on the menu that they are deep fried. If I decide to order them again I will ask for pan fried ... and see if they will do it. I think they do a good business - based on the number of cars in the parking lot, especially around the dinner/evening hours, it looks like they are doing well. That's fantastic! read more

Finally a decent pub in the Sandstone/McEwan neighbourhood. Just opened and is very nice, the owners have a few other pubs in town so they know what they are doing and it shows. The owner , Gus is very hands on and seems to be there all the time, chatting guests, getting the games on and helping behind the bar. The staff seems good, couple of grumpy servers, but they will be rooted out I would think. Beer is cold and a pretty good selections, I get this is the subs and they can't have a line up like Craft or the Joyce on 4th, but pretty good. TVs are great, high quality and well managed. Only complaint is the wings on Tuesday wing night. 30 cents for the worst wings I have ever had, and I have had a lot of wings. They are tiny, no meat, over cooked, some had tips on them still and a few with feathers. Not good when you can get a quality 25 cent wing all over town Check out the pubs but avoid wing night. read more

This place has amazing food. We've been here twice now once on a Friday night for dinner and now Sunday afternoon for lunch. Friday is packed! I see this place becoming a reservations restaurant in the next few months. It's a pub with tvs everywhere but the food has a classy spin on it. Wings are great, pizza is the best pizza inCalgary hands down. The turkey club house has actual real cuts of Turkey not sandwich meat on homemade sour dough bread! The chef Mike makes everything he can from scratch every day. There's only one dessert but that's all you need. It's a double layer red velvet cake with caramelized walnuts and BACON! We've been regular customers since the day they opened and I'm sad to say that things have gone drastically downhill with the new owners. Besides raising the prices on almost everything the quality and quantity has gone down. They advertise half price appetizers but give you a "select list". Their Caesar salad is sad, used to be enough to share and now it's 1/2 the size. And I really would like to know why the waitresses are never happy! I hate to give up on our local pub but it's just not good anymore! :( read more

Stopped in with my partner and her parents as we had a long day and just wanted something nearby and easy. Service started out fine until we let the server know we needed another minute. She said she would be back in a minute or two and left us to make our decisions, and then didn't come back for almost 15, and managed to never be looking in our direction so we could signal her. Plenty of time to be talking to other people in the bar and helping other tables, though. When she did get to the table, no apology was made for the wait. Most of the food was nothing special, all pretty standard pub fare, however the shrimp appetizer was no good. The entire pan of shrimp was overdone and they were all rubbery and inedible. We advised the server of this and she did take them back, and a gentleman who was either the manager or the cook came out to advise us that he would be taking them off the bill, which was great. He also then took some time to explain that times were tough because they had been broken into that night, including taking a few minutes to explain everything about the breaking and complain about the police response, and then went into a rant about Rachel Notley and how she put a big hit on his business by ruining the economy and making beer more expensive. This was a 5 or so minute rant that made the whole experience very, very awkward. It sucks that you got broken into, and everyone is entitled to their own politics, but I don't need to hear about it when I'm trying to eat. At the end of the evening, the bill came, and it still had the shrimp on it. As we were talking about it at the table, the cook/manager walked up and literally snatched it from my partners father's hand to get it dealt with. That was a little shocking itself. Ultimately, if the service had been better and the one bad dish was the only issue, I'd give this place 3 stars, but our whole experience there was not very good and we will not be returning. Maybe you'll get everyone on a better day and it'll be a better experience. read more

Don't even know what say food took forever. And was very shocked when my friend had made a mistake and thought she had entered her tip but hadn't. I have never had a waitress come and ask us why she was tipped properly on her bill. It was a honest mistake but the fact she had the full to ask I don't think I'll be back to bad because even though food took forever it was amazing.... read more

The food is always burnt or way over cooked. And that's putting it generously. Waiting staff can't remember your order from the table to the till. Have never gotten good service. Terrible menu options. So limited and burnt portions. No spice. No flavour. No options. And such small portion sizes for the price at a "neighbourhood" pub. Good luck Brixton! read more

Ordered the fish n chips. Looked amazing until I went to eat it. You had to saw off a piece and the batter was doughy inside. I asked if they could send it back. They did and sent out some fresh fish. Looked better and started out a little better but by about bite 3 it was the same thing. Doughy inside and you had to literally saw pieces off.
