She gave me her cell phone number for emergencies when I was at my sickest and did not bat an eye when I called at 3:00 am Thanksgiving for help (she was not on call). Regina is compassionate, hardworking and gets to know you first to make sure you are comfortable with her and the practice.She needs to know you and your needs to make sure that the course of treatment fits in with your personality, diagnosis and lifestyle. You are not just a medical file and diagnosis, you are a person first, then a patient. I am in remission and she and the chemo nurses made this possible. When I worked at a company with very iffy medical coverage, she knew I was outlaying more than I was making. She went to her partners and the insurance administrator and worked out an arrangement beneficial to me (and I'm sure to her detriment). Thankfully, I have much better insurance coverage now. Also, the health insurance administrator suggested we work together to see if I would be eligible for grants from the drug companies and other cancer charities and foundations if I had trouble meeting the deductible portion. There is a lot of help out there, you just need to be willing to do the paperwork. Regina's called me at odd hours when I have a question- you just need to be patient because she has hospital visits to make, patient appointments. transcription and return calls to make.She is also entitled to a personal life, but I swear I don't know where she finds the time. But she does call me back and I don't care if it's 9 at nite- she called because she knew I was worried. I thank God that I could find a doctor that not only put me into remission (knock on wood) me, but cared about me as a human being.

The general office staff is mildly courteous; however, Dr. Capone is completely burnt out! She did not explain any procedures to me, and was utterly condescending. Then, they had the nerve to schedule appointments I never made, nor wanted; not once, but on two occasions, with the last accompanied by a cancellation fee. Also, when confirming my initial appointment, the staff never informed me that I would have to park in a parking garage. I arrived almost 45 mins early to my appointment, and was still a few minutes late because I was trying to find the correct building. A little bit of customer service goes a long way. I warn you against places like this.

When my Mom choose her doctor and began her chemotherapy everyone was very nice, couldn't be more helpful. She completed that phase Aug. 2009. In Oct she began radiation but at a different hospital. Tomorrow we have the scan to see if the tumors are gone. Needless to say there is much anticipation. Though quite robust at the start my Mom is no longer strong enough to walk on her own, it has actually come on rather suddenly after the radiation and she is also now dependent on oxygen. When we called the office today to alert them to the need for a wheel chair, (this is only the second time she's been out of the house since Dec. 31st). We were told that no accommodations could be made by anyone at Haematology-Oncology. She was further told by the phone receptionist, "We do not provide any service like that". I am stunned at the lack of consideration shown her! The receptionist offered no suggestions at all! We have no idea how we will transport her from a taxi arriving at the curb (parking facility is too far away from the 676 building) through the long lobby to the 21st floor offices of Haematology-Oncology. And then she must go to another floor for her scan and then arrive back on the 21st floor for the results, all in the same day. I hope that other families will not have to be treated with such rudeness. Though this group is affiliated with Northwestern, a renowned hospital, the lack of respect for the feelings of patients is unacceptable. It was the most inhospitable treatment we've received through this horrific ordeal.

I didn't see any other patients in wheelchairs or with oxygen, although there was a wheelchair parked in the corner of the waiting room with a big note on it that said "IN USE, PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB." Maybe it was one that a patient came in. I had my first appointment with HOA, and it went really well. I just wanted to write a review to share my experience with Dr. Claudia Tellez, and the staff. Their office seems very well organized. The front desk greeted me right away, answered questions, and asked if I'd had a chance to fill out the paperwork they'd emailed to me in advance. I had, so I handed it over. They validated my parking, so it only cost $10 to park in the garage at Northwestern hospital (instead of $26). The $10 rate for parking is good for 7 hours. The waiting area is very clean and bright, and they have water and coffee available. I waited about 15 minutes to be called in for a vital signs check. Then I waited another 10 minutes in the exam room. Dr. Tellez was a very good listener, and very thorough. I didn't feel rushed, and she gives off a very warm, friendly vibe. She was professional, asked me a lot of questions about my health history and lifestyle habits, explained things in detail, showed me the test results my doctor had sent over to the office, and explained what everything meant. When I mentioned tummy issues that I have already yelped about, she recommended probiotics to help heal the lingering symptoms, and I was happy to hear that. I feel like a lot of doctors don't give probiotics the credit they deserve. So on that count, she struck me as pretty forward-thinking. She explained what she proposed we do about my situation, which made a lot of sense to me. She was very balanced, but cautious. I gave up some more blood for testing right across the hall at the lab, and the woman drawing my blood was very nice and professional, too. So I have an appt with Dr. Tellez again in 2 weeks. The waiting area is very clean and neat with a nice entertaining TV. Having a clean clinic is one of the most important things to me. The staff assured me that I would be seen in a timely manner, and they were right. Before I knew it, my name was called to see the doctor. The doctor I saw was very intelligent and knowledgeable. He answered my questions thoroughly and wrote me my prescriptions. One of the best doctors I've ever experienced. The doctor walked me step by step what I needed. I also got a referral quickly and easily. They are able to transfer my records to wherever I needed them without issue. All in all, Hermosa Medical Center was a great experience and I highly recommend anyone to go for their medical needs.

The studio audience jeers which is inevitably mixed in with the obligatory multiple *bleeps* for audibly uttered obscenities. There is non-metered parking and metered parking nearby which implies parking is available.

This is especially true because her excellent, multi-lingual office staff will schedule you to fit in and appointment THAT DAY, or at worst, the next day if you're having an urgent issue. I can't stress enough how awesome this is. I was able to avoid paying extra money for the emergency room because she was able to go out of her way to make an appointment with a specialist who could rule out a true cardiac emergency when my heart rate and BP were extremely low and I was having dizzy spells and called her. I no longer live nearby but I have kept her as my doctor because of these factors and the fact that it's a hassle to change my Primary Care doc. I think the reason another poster said there is often a wait is partly due to the fact that they schedule patients pretty tightly so they can see you as soon as possible, AND she spends a really good amount of time listening to patients, even when a med student does the initial assessment she will take time to really understand what's happening. So that "wait-time" complaint is actually a benefit to whichever patient she's with at the moment, which will eventually be you! The only reason she doesn't get 5 stars from me: I think if you are offended by Christian sentiments (posters, little daily meditation books in the waiting room) she might not be the very best doctor for you. You might be put off by some of her priorities (for example, the friendly advice, You-should-marry-him-already and don't-you-want-a-baby? kind of thing - granted this is after I've been seeing her for 8 years and she knows me well, and I'm paraphrasing). The front desk staff has always been polite and professional and willing to assist with matters of insurance, referrals and appointments. Our nurse Josie who was assigned to be our point of contact during chemo, was understanding and always answered our questions. She and Dr. Kaiser were always available-even when emergencies came up and followed up with even minor issues and questions. Dr. Kaiser was understanding and kind and extremely knowledgeable treating my husbands rare cancer. She was there for everything. Our family cannot thank them enough! In the field on oncology there is a fine line between administering treatment but balancing the compassion needed to deal with this disease emotionally- The Oncology Specialists does this well.

Family oriented, genuine care for patients, best staff you could ask for. Barb DeCarlo is also the best! I see her every few months for my medicine and she is incredible at her job. She is very easy to talk to and work with, especially now that upcoming events in my life will make it difficult for me to come back in three months for my medicine checkup. She makes a plan and she makes it work so it is easy on patients. I'm very very impressed.
