He enjoys special interest pieces like MARVEL and DC comics, Pokémon, specific Japanese anime, LEGO, Star Wars, and so much more. For me, though, I requested flowers and a Scorpio, and he created my piece. Check the artists' pages and artwork before scheduling your appointment. You'd see what styles you like, and I liked Matt's style. I saw some flowers, and I knew he could do what I envisioned. The building is clean with artwork everywhere. Much of it reflects the owner's, Nikko Hurtado, style and things. But each artist has their own room that best reflects their own style and things. Booking an appointment at Black Anchor Collective requires time, patience, and email savviness. If you don't know how to read or respond to emails, you may need to go somewhere else. This place is professional, and many of the artists attend conferences or have long sessions. If they can respond to your email while on the road, perfect, and it's always helpful to know what you want. I am glad I got my piece from Black Anchor Collective, and I did patiently wait for about a month for my spot. Every artist is different, so follow their social media and contact them accordingly.

this place is filthy, it smells, and i would invite everyone to look at the owners awful portfolio before even walking through the door... im sure that it will save you the wasted time of going in, or worse, the time getting it covered or lasered off. my experience walking in was, the lobby was filthy dirty with dust, dirt and spilled sticky drink or food everywhere. it didnt look like anyone has cleaned in months. couches are torn and dirty, i did not want to sit down on either of them. as i looked across the counter there was the same dirty floor with a huge pile of trash bags piled against the wall in the middle of the work area where they had obviously been for awhile. i used the bathroom which was also filthy, the piercing room was next to the bathroom which was by far the cleanest place in the shop but still lacking. the shop smelled, i am assuming it was the piles of trash bags and pizza boxes originally but imagine a dumpster behind a chinese food restaurant on a hot day, now imagine that smell as someone attempts to disguise it with a bunch of citrus and flower glade plug ins. that was the smell. i went outside while my friend was tattooed, the guy who tattooed my friend has worked on me here in weho and he is great but he couldnt handle it at that shop,thankfully he left. anyhow, while outside smoking i happened to chat with a lady that i think worked next door, she said the smell was so bad she could smell it over the nail salon smell. in all fairness, i live in an expensive part of la, i usually get work done locally and often by the man we were at this shop to see. i have a pretty high standard for places where i am potentially exposed to other peoples blood and infectious material. i would strongly suggest to everyone to take their business to a real shop. read more

We went to the back and he just said take all that shit off (her scarf) then she sat down and he pushed her down to lay down !! And then when he was done he said DONT FUKING put shit on it!! Instead, she cut my natural nails extremely short, then immediately pulled out the acrylics. I spent a long time growing my nails out. I told her several different times that I wasn't there for acrylics. It was pretty obvious by the length of my nails that I wanted to keep my natural nails. I honestly think she did it on purpose, hoping I'd change my mind after she'd already cut them off and let her do a $60+ acrylic service instead. I can't prove it, but that was definitely the vibe I got since she just kept trying to push acrylics. I should have just been patient and gone to my nail lady in Orange County. Instead, I left with extremely short nails because she couldn't just listen. On top of that, I was told the wait for a walk-in would be 10-15 minutes. I ended up waiting 30 minutes. I don't mind waiting, but just be transparent about the wait time so customers know what to expect. Regardless of her pushing acrylics and basically ruining my natural nails, I still got the exact service I originally asked for. So no, she didn't get the $60+ acrylic service, and she didn't get a tip either. Listen to the customer instead of just doing what you want. If someone says they want to keep their natural nails, respect that. Customers are coming to you for a service they requested, not for you to decide what you think they should get. I'll never come here again.
