Arrived at 7:45 and they were booked so decided to grab an IPA and Pork cracklings while waiting for a table at the bar. The Cracklings (Chicarron) were crispy and salted just right. The Fat Pig IPA paired well. I asked my server which starter to try and she recommended the Steak Tartare. The blend of fried capers, cress mayo, sweet & spicy peppers made for an exquisite dish. The Mixed side salad was also excellent! Decided to go with the burger as it was just the right portion (not huge) & many tables were ordering it. I asked for medium rare to medium. The burger came out and was medium well-done. I informed my server & said I was okay keeping it but they insisted on making another one. The second one was a perfect medium. So much better! This burger is about taste and quality ingredients (topped with vinegar pork, beer braised onions & dijonnaise to name a few..sign me up!)-perfect! Definitely one of the top burgers in the area. Will be back to try the steak. Great service and eats & a great carnivore find in Lund!

For apps, we got the lobster ravioli and burrata&tomatoes. Lobster ravioli's sauce was light and flavorful. Comes with 3 raviolis. The burrata was creamy with fresh grape colorful tomatoes and balsamic. We got the wagyu and sharing size of the strip with a side of the Béarnaise sauce. Wagyu alone of course was sooo tender and juicy as people describe it. The strip we used the sauce and the butternut squash strip they provide and it was superb. Lastly, we ordered the mashed potatoes in wagyu fat. Very fatty and creamy as expected. Had to order a second it was so good Service was great. Our waiter was very kind and quick.

What ultimately disappointed us most was not just the dinner itself, but how the restaurant handled the situation afterward. When we arrived at 8:00 p.m., the table next to us was still covered with dirty dishes from previous guests. A receipt left on the table showed they had paid about 15 minutes earlier. During our meal, two more nearby tables became vacant, yet none of them were cleared before we left at around 9:20 p.m. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. The waiter accidentally poured full glasses of wine for both of us after asking whether we wanted to taste it first, laughed it off, and moved on. A small mistake, but representative of the evening. The starters were good. The biggest issue was the steak. We both ordered medium rare. One arrived medium, the other clearly overcooked, which the waiter acknowledged. My steak was eventually taken back, but after a long wait--during which my husband finished eating--the waiter informed me they were only then starting to prepare a new one. By that point, our dinner together was over, so I declined. The béarnaise sauce had clearly been sitting for a while, with a glossy skin on top. I spoke with the floor manager privately and asked for a bill they considered fair. The explanation for the uncleared tables was that the staff had been busy, although the restaurant did not appear particularly crowded. The final bill was €118. My starter was removed, but we still paid for my husband's starter and main course, both wines, and approximately €8 for water we had never ordered but which had been brought to the table automatically. My steak was not charged because I never received a replacement. When I questioned the water charge, I was simply told that I had drunk it. Mistakes happen in every restaurant. What prompted this review was the way the complaint was handled afterward. Two days later, I contacted the restaurant to give them an opportunity to address the issue. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes, the discussion focused on defending their actions. They described the compensation as "more than generous" because desserts and dessert wines were not charged, even though we never received them. In reality, the only actual compensation was my starter. The restaurant also claimed that I shouted at their staff. I was certainly disappointed, but I deliberately held every conversation away from our table to avoid disturbing other guests. The only moment my voice may have risen was when I asked, "Are you serious?" after realizing we were also being charged for water we had never ordered. I appreciate businesses that support their employees. However, I also expect them to acknowledge their own mistakes. Throughout the entire process, I was left with the impression that the restaurant apologized only for my disappointment--not for failing to deliver the experience we had paid for. That distinction matters. Saying *"We're sorry you feel this way"* focuses on the customer's reaction. Saying *"We're sorry we failed to deliver"* accepts responsibility. That responsibility was missing throughout this entire experience, and for that reason, I cannot recommend KöD.

I'm not about to tell you that Retour Steak serves up the best beef dishes in the world because in my opinion, they don't. One would have travel to Japan for the best steak (Sorry Nebraska). But I will tell you this, FOR THE PRICE nothing comes close to this place. We made it a point to check this place out and after a previous attempt the night before decided to come by earlier. We arrived around 5:45 and already the dining room was crazy busy. The hostess did however find one available table, but that they would need the table later for an 8:00 reservation. If you're taking notes. Make a reservation! Since we had well over two hours, we knew we could take our time and have a cocktail to start. Handwritten on the special drinks for the evening "sidecar". Hello?! Music to my ears. My friend and I each ordered up a sidecar and a charcuterie platter to start. The sidecars were perfect, and even though I usually have mine made with whisky I went with the flow and let them make mine with cognac. It was delicious. The charcuterie was a small serving but perfect to share. Each of the meats were amazing. I wish I knew what the darker meat was, because that one was truly out of this world kick ass delicious. Steak time! And there are plenty of choices. But really this would be a no brainer as I am a fan of this little thing called the French fry. And the ribeye comes with those crispy potato things. Ribeye "medium rare" please. I'll get right to the point. The steak was cooked to perfection. It came topped with a little rosemary and roasted garlic. The garlic was the winner and enhanced the steak even more. I even saved a few to eat along with my fries. By the way, these fries were about as good as I have had in a long ASS time. Almost as good as I had in Belgium (which by the way is the Hall of Fame of fries). I did save room for dessert and again, this was an easy choice. The profiteroles were shouting out my name. Again, they scored a perfect 10. We each had a glass of dessert wine, a moscato and a tawny port which both were amazing. I can't stress how much I loved this place. And again, the fact that this place is reasonably priced makes it that much better. It's not cheap mind you, but for a steakhouse it's about as inexpensive you will find. The service was impeccable and constantly had servers checking in on us. They were also very helpful when it came to our wine selections. Just FYI, if you are standing on Østergade street and can't find the place, it's actually located on Ny Østergade 21 which is a side street off the main street (running perpendicular).

After striking out at 4 places whose chefs had already bailed, we realized that the kitchens in this beautiful city close early. On the verge of giving up, we were directed to Retour and wow, what a find! We had to convince the chef to take us at 11:01pm and after some pleading, he offered us 2 steaks: Take it or leave it. We were only too happy to take it. And what a revelation of meaty goodness. After settling in to a table and grooving with the wonderful jazz music that created a hip vibe we were treated to some yummy home cooked bread & a perfectly dressed green salad. What came out of the Kitchen next were 2 thick, juicy, perfectly cooked slabs of Uruguayan Ribeye heaven that positively exploded in your mouth with flavor! The thick cut french fries were cooked to crispy perfection and the Bernaise sauce accompanying the meat was delicious, but unnecessary. Highly recommended, reservations are a must, great service and an amazing locally brewed Donning Fanes Brown Ale that was suberb! Do yourself a favor & check this place out, well worth the trip!!!

They served both seafood and steaks but more seafood options. There also was a 3 and 4 course option for those hungry diners. We started with a single plate of fried squid that was a good size for us to share. Most were cut into French fry like sticks which was different presentation and then fried. All pieces weee dusted with paprika and came with a side of lemon mayo for dipping. Squid had a good chew to it and a good start off to our dinner. Mussels came in a huge pot, the largest serving to date. We ended up filling two bowls with shells. The wine broth was quite delicious and the bread was perfect for dipping and soaking up that goodness. The whole seabass was another well done dish covered in greens and easy to debone. The fish was light and tender. Service was attentive. A bread service per person was added to the check. Tiny restrooms were located next to the check in desk. Fries, salad, all entrees were delectable. No notes. Service was friendly and in Europe, definitely not fast paced like in USA. I didn't care as we had no urgency and on vacation. What a way to start off my European trip!
