Made a reservation online for dinner. The restaurant was almost filled to capacity. They serve bread with a mustard sauce and it was DELICIOUS. For apps, we got the lobster ravioli and burrata&tomatoes. Lobster ravioli's sauce was light and flavorful. Comes with 3 raviolis. The burrata was creamy with fresh grape colorful tomatoes and balsamic. We got the wagyu and sharing size of the strip with a side of the Béarnaise sauce. Wagyu alone of course was sooo tender and juicy as people describe it. The strip we used the sauce and the butternut squash strip they provide and it was superb. Lastly, we ordered the mashed potatoes in wagyu fat. Very fatty and creamy as expected. Had to order a second it was so good Service was great. Our waiter was very kind and quick. read more

A genuinely disturbing dining experience. The main course completely ruined our evening. We ordered three beef tenderloins, and both my daughter and I had to spit out the first bite. The meat had an overpoweringly foul smell and taste. This was not the flavour of dry-aged beef--it tasted spoiled. When I explained this to the manager, he initially appeared sceptical. I asked him to smell the steaks himself. His attitude changed immediately, and he admitted that something was wrong with them and apologised. I have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant, particularly one presenting itself as reputable. Being served meat that smells and tastes spoiled is not simply a disappointing meal--it raises a serious concern about food handling and quality control. The rest of the food did nothing to improve the experience. The fries were cold and soggy, the side dishes we tried were bland, and the service was inattentive, although the servers themselves were polite. What makes the situation even worse is that we were still required to pay for part of the meal after being served food that was clearly unacceptable. To KOD: please do not respond with a generic message saying you are sorry or that you will "do better." I have already sent a private email, and the matter can be addressed properly there. My steak was eventually taken back, but after a long wait--during which my husband finished eating--the waiter informed me they were only then starting to prepare a new one. By that point, our dinner together was over, so I declined. The béarnaise sauce had clearly been sitting for a while, with a glossy skin on top. I spoke with the floor manager privately and asked for a bill they considered fair. The explanation for the uncleared tables was that the staff had been busy, although the restaurant did not appear particularly crowded. The final bill was €118. My starter was removed, but we still paid for my husband's starter and main course, both wines, and approximately €8 for water we had never ordered but which had been brought to the table automatically. My steak was not charged because I never received a replacement. When I questioned the water charge, I was simply told that I had drunk it. Mistakes happen in every restaurant. What prompted this review was the way the complaint was handled afterward. Two days later, I contacted the restaurant to give them an opportunity to address the issue. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes, the discussion focused on defending their actions. They described the compensation as "more than generous" because desserts and dessert wines were not charged, even though we never received them. In reality, the only actual compensation was my starter. The restaurant also claimed that I shouted at their staff. I was certainly disappointed, but I deliberately held every conversation away from our table to avoid disturbing other guests. The only moment my voice may have risen was when I asked, "Are you serious?" after realizing we were also being charged for water we had never ordered. I appreciate businesses that support their employees. However, I also expect them to acknowledge their own mistakes. Throughout the entire process, I was left with the impression that the restaurant apologized only for my disappointment--not for failing to deliver the experience we had paid for. That distinction matters. Saying *"We're sorry you feel this way"* focuses on the customer's reaction. Saying *"We're sorry we failed to deliver"* accepts responsibility. I've been to thousands of restaurants all over the world, and this is the only one that has ever done this, and it was 40 DKK, the equivalent of over $6 USD. Service was poor as well. Probably the finest steak I have ever had in DK so far. There, I went and said it. Not only is the meat prime quality - they are also not afraid to cook it to perfection. Which in my case means almost no cooking at all. They call it "bleu", because the meat is more of a purple-ish blue than red. Only restaurants with a certain amount of self confidence would pull this off. A bleu steak made out of inferior meat is practically inedible. A bleu steak made of quality meat is sheer bliss. My T-bone definitely falls in this category. You could cut out this baby with a classic Danish red sausage - that tender! With a variety of sides and sauces (we were a party of five, so we could just order all of them) and a splendid Ripasso, this 500g beauty went down smoothly. I strongly recommend the timian glace and the Bearnaise plus the tomato salad. But really. I didn't need side dishes at all. That steak kept me busy for several minutes! read more

A very cool NY meat district inspired steak restaurant which proudly incorporates its Danish culture into the whole modern concept. We had just landed in Copenhagen and blindly followed Yelp recommendations for dinner. KöD was close-by and although the place seemed pretty packed, the staff immediately seated us. We were then greeted by our served who explained us a bit about the KöD concept. Basically, it's a very young restaurant with some modern ideas and a limited but nice menu. She mentioned that they redefined the terms rare and medium but my order of medium-rare was still accepted so that seemed a bit overcomplicated. I usually don't order meat starters at steak restaurant as I'd rather have two steaks instead. But we were very happy with the carpaccio and beef tatar, I highly recommend these. One other thing I noticed in Denmark: they have amazing salt with the bread. I caught myself simply trying the salt itself multiple times. Three steak options were offered: a Danish grassfed tenderloin, as well as steaks from Uruguay and USA. I have had my well share of American beef so I obviously opted for the Danish alternative which was a hit. Nevertheless, I would have liked to see more local choices instead of importing American beef. The meat was perfectly prepared medium-rare. The accompanying port glaze sauce was excellent. Regarding sides I loved the mashed potatoes with a cheese topping. The steak frites were good but nothing exceptional. I yet have to find good truffle fries in Denmark, so that would be my suggestions to cooks here. Just go to the southern U.S. states and you'll know. The menu is overall limited (check the website) which I found refreshing as they seemed to take pride in the few items they offered. But it would not work if your date only wants to eat salads (I'm looking at you skinny blonde women of Denmark). We were not overly excited about dessert but we were proven wrong. The desserts at KöD are exceptional. I liked my rhubarb which chocolate crumbles and basically pure cream to top it off. But the cheesecake with blackberry coulis and some kind of almond cookie crunch cake base was amazing. Highly recommending the dessert options here! If I had such a steak house closeby, I would go there every week. KöD is able to put its own spin on the whole concept. The similarities to young steak houses in NY are obvious. That also comes with a certain hipster ambiance and as we noticed target group. But if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere to eat a marvellous steak, this is the place. read more

Young, hipster meat restaurant. The staff looked so cool and was so happy working there. We ate some really great porter house steaks and beef tenderloin. The sides were delicious-mushrooms, sweet potato fries, Cesar salad. My only recommendation is to ask for your meat cooked longer than you would in America. We asked for "medium" and most items were "medium rare" to almost "rare." Maybe this is a Danish issue. Great location and service was top notch. I was lucky enough to eat at Köd one summer evening and it was like being sent to heaven on a leaf and taking a dive in a perfect sea and getting a koala as a buddy. In other words: it was perfect. The meat was absolutely PERFECT (yes, I used that word again, but it really was such an experience), the service was heavenly and the rooms were beautiful. This place should be packed every night and it should be one of the most popular places in the city. Because not only the meat was purrfect. Very quaint little restaurant in a neighborhood that is close to all the tourist areas but very quiet and enough removed to make you feel like you're in a different neighborhood. Very good service and a nice atmosphere. Seemed to be a lot of locals celebrating different occasions that were there. If you want to get your quota of steak with a lot of different choices including prime to wagyu then this is the place to go. They have very nice sides and A choice of sauces for the steak. I went to KoD on a business trip based on a local's recommendation. The overall experience was okay at best. We each ordered the local steak and some sides and appetizers to share. We also each ordered drinks and a bottle of water. The drink came somewhat promptly, but the water never came out- even after a gentile reminder to the server. The appetizers came out after about a half hour and were okay. The cod was listed as having cauliflower (not puree) and was very sweet. The prawns were tasty and had a nice amount of jamon imberico with them. The beef tar tar was overly spiced. It came off as if they were trying to hide something (it's also always odd if the egg is pre-mixed). The largest issue with the meal is that it was over an hour from when the appetizers were served to give us our main courses. To me, that feels mildly insane for a nearly empty restaurant to cook 3 medium steaks and a burger. On the better side, my steak was cooked properly and spiced appropriately. The sides were good: fries, mash potatoes, and mushrooms. The other steaks at the table were cooked a bit past medium, but everyone generally enjoyed them. The meat quality was good, but certainly not the best I've ever had. Maybe this is good for Denmark? Overall, I would not go back to this restaurant with clients. The level of service is not up to par and the food is good, but not a compelling reason to come back. read more
