Hmmm. I have mixed feelings about this salon, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt over…read morewhat transpired here once that caused me to never come back. The salon itself is attractive and brightly lit, though very small and cramped, so much so that I didn't note much space between styling stations. Beyond that, I received good service (as did my husband) from my stylist, who I had followed here from a previous salon. The price tag on the services (highlights/trim, regular haircut) was expected, about what I had paid elsewhere, maybe a bit more than the previous salon. However, the vibe was very off, downright chilly, in fact. Something was clearly off each time I stepped foot into the salon (my husband and a friend of mine that got her hair cut there as well both said the same thing), but I couldn't put my finger on it. Tension was most certainly in the air. It was palpable, so intense that you could cut it with a knife and I noticed it every single time I was there (all three visits) and I guess that I shouldn't have been terribly surprised when my stylist called me the day before a hair appointment to tell me that she had been escorted off the property by police and that she had gotten into a heated altercation with the owner(s) and another stylist and therefore wouldn't be able to keep the appointment. She went on to get a job at a nearby salon, but I had to wait it out for two more weeks until she could see me. Wow. Very disappointing, to say the least. At that point, after hearing her side of the story and knowing her for a long time as well, I contacted the owner of the salon and inquired about what happened. I got an entirely different version of events (not unexpected), but also a bit of an attitude, as if how dare I question anything that happened. At the end of the conversation, the owner told me to come on back "if you want to" in a rather huffy tone that implied "don't come back." I probably shouldn't have been surprised by the attitude because I had noticed some tension during each of my salon visits and had also been spoken to in a slightly abrupt manner by said owner before, as well as the other stylist involved in the argument, on a previous occasion. To top it off, the owner did not even bother to apologize to me for the inconvenience and seemed pretty nonplussed by the entire situation. I should add that I was unbelievably inconvenienced by this "recent development" since I needed my hair trimmed and highlighted for a wedding that week. I mentioned this to the owner, who seemed to shrug it off as if it was no big deal. Who's to blame? I'm not sure. It's obvious now that the fault lies somewhere firmly rooted in the middle, but the experience was enough to sour me against this place for good, even though I've since cut ties with that longtime stylist. With that said, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and an extra star because the service that I did receive was still good at the time, although the odd vibe, less than courteous manner of other employees (and the owner) and the events that unfolded later really made this an extremely unpleasant experience.

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Viva Grand Salon. All of the staff is so friendly and makes you feel special. BILLY…read moreis the BEST. I have been going to him for years and will never go anywhere else. He has done highlights and lowlights (which I love) and now I am sporting a darker color :) My hair use to be frizzy and hard to manage but now it is smooth and soft with him using the Keratin Smoothing treatment, it is AMAZING. My sister now drives from Ohio to get her hair done by him because of how wonderful her hair looks only after seeing him. You will get compliments from perfect strangers about your hair! When I walk out the door from this salon, I always have a "pep in my step" and want to go show off my hair :)

Okay so, I know better, I mean, I really, really know better than to get a 4.99 haircut. But I'm…read morecheap. I'm soo, so cheap and all I needed was a trim. So, when Great Clips was having their grand opening I fell for it. I do this sort of thing every few years and I always regret it-- the same way you always go back to that same Coney Island that you know was terrible but you think it'll be okay this time. It isn't. Don't do it. So, I tried to live with it but it was horrible. I was sad and getting a massive headache from wearing my hair in a ponytail for 15 days in a row... So, when I decided to find someone to fix my botched do, I stumbled in to Garibella. I was obviously a little worried that it would end up worse than it was when I came in... because that's just my luck. It wasn't. The haircut I got was pretty close to what I went in for and honestly, it's probably better than what I wanted. I'm really happy with my haircut and really, really happy with how healthy and shiny it looks. While I was getting my hair shampooed a woman walked in and recognized Eric, my stylist. Apparently he'd done her hair at another salon and she'd been looking for him for a year, refusing to go to anyone else. When he walked in the back for something she asked if he'd ever cut my hair before, and then proceeded to tell me how amazing he was. I'll admit, I'm pretty happy with it. I was a walk-in, and they were able to fit me in. I did have to wait a while but that's to be expected when you don't have an appointment. Finding parking was a little bit of a hassle but it was worth it. Everyone was friendly. I feel like I've regained most of the self confidence I left on the floor at Great Clips. Yeah, I spent more than 4.99, but it was worth every penny.
