My daughter and I were on a last hurrah before her baby is born. It was a little getaway and we were looking for a prenatal massage for her and a relaxing massage for me. Unfortunately, our spa at the Moody Garden Hotel was closed during the week due to the COVID pandemic. So we searched Yelp for other places with good reviews and came across the gem! First review with Chris, my therapist: I've had a lot of great therapists over the years. However, never did I think I needed a neuromuscular massage therapist. Chris was truly outstanding and ranks up with my top of all time!!! It all started with me just wanting a "relaxing" massage. I made the mistake of checking the box "tendonitis". He asked me about that and what other "ailments" I suffered from. Sadly, my list was longer than I expected. I went in with so much pain in my shoulder, lower back and hips. Old age and being a volleyball coach is what I attributed to. He did amazing work, focused on the problems, personalized the massage to what I needed rather than just go through the typical massage. Never did I think my shoulder could have the motion he gave me back. And my hips did NOT hurt as they usually did when I've been laying or sitting a while. I was ready to do cartwheels when I left there. He is highly therapeutic and helped me immensely. Realistically I should've gone for the 90 min. massage but I didn't have the time that day. I live in Austin, TX and will drive back here to bring my husband for his "ailments". Furthermore, knowing we don't live in Galveston, he recommended a place in Austin for my maintenance. I love the fact that she is not a doctor but she has done worlds of greatness for me that countless "doctors" of chiropractic couldn't even get close to. I had a short series of massages and other correctional therapy in Florida over 13 years ago after being involved in a car accident. Unfortunately, it wasn't really a beneficial experience. Afterwards, I was a bit hesitant about having any type of additional massage therapy from anyone else. Recently, I have been experiencing neck, minor back and shoulder pain/stiffness. So, I started doing some research to see if there were any types of massage therapists in my area. I promptly received a reply from the owner, Theresa, who recommended that I start with an hour of Neuromuscular Therapy. I wasn't sure what this type of treatment involved but was willing to give it a try. I made an appointment and am so glad I did! From my previous experience, I was expecting a typical massage and boy was I surprised!! From the moment I walked in her office, Theresa must have been taking careful note of my every move and my posture. During the pre-stages of my therapy, Theresa pointed out some flaws in my posture that I've never noticed until that moment. When she placed my body in the correct position on the table, I never knew how crooked I was! LOL It actually felt uncomfortable to me because my body was so used to being mis-aligned. After my initial assessment, I already felt like I had made the right decision and was going to be in the hands of a true professional. At the end of my 1-hour session of neuromuscular therapy, I felt much better than I had in years! This was after only having one session of therapy. I can only imagine how much better I will feel after each successive treatment because I will definitely be going back for more therapy. One thing I really like about Theresa is that she really takes pride in her work. She has a wealth of knowledge about what types of therapy work best for certain conditions. Theresa was able to target specific areas I never knew existed to help relieve my conditions. When I walked in, I had restricted motion in my neck. When I left, I had full range of motion in my neck and the rest of my body! My back and shoulder were also pain free! Another thing I liked was that I wasn't pressured into having treatment I didn't need or coerced into coming back for additional therapy sessions; this was all left up to me. I can only speak for myself but this was, by far, THE best experience I have EVER had involving therapy. And, the free extras, like hot stones treatment and a heated bed were the icing on the cake!
