I have been here for several events, including their buffet. The atmosphere is peaceful and the food is delicious. I attended a catered birthday, which was delightful. The food was tasty, especially the beef. The staff was friendly and courteous. Their is a view of the beautiful golf course while enjoying the festivities. This review is about their dining events: - Chillin' and Grillin' Tuesday nights (in the summer). A very good deal when you consider that they bring in excellent local entertainment and on nice evenings you can sit on the patio and enjoy al fresco dining. - Taco Thursdays (AUCE). Probably one of the biggest dining bargains in Northern Illinois. Tasty $4 Margaritas too! - Last Sunday of the Month (and Easter and Mother's Day) Brunch. This is a very popular event and reservations are basically required 2-3 days in advance. A monumental selection of foods await you. Bargain priced mimosas too! Almost impossible to go wrong here. Don't forget to ask for the senior discount if you are over 60. - Comfort Food Buffet (Wednesdays as announced- get on their e-mail list). See Above. They have the buffet down to a science. Come hungry- leave satisfied. Buffet includes Pot Roast, BBQ Ribs, Broasted Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Potatoes, Veggies and much more. AUCE broasted chicken or ribs option as announced. All Entrees Include Soup and Salad Bar. I feel guilty when the check comes that it is so freaking affordable. They can easily accommodate large numbered parties if you call ahead! Review for the restaurant. We loved eating here when they had the Fri night buffet. Fabulous! Decided to try last night for fish. Res at 6:30. Seated in a not crowded dining room. Sat for 20 min while 1 gal ran past us multiple times w/o acknowledging our presence. 1 guy was also working & he ignored us until we waved him down. Oh I'm sorry he said. Another 20 min to get our drinks (water). 15 min to get our dinner. Fish was luke warm. BP hot. Waiter never checked back with us. I noticed that the wait staff made no attempt to clear dishes when any table was finished eating. Understaffed with untrained people. Talked to another couple as we left & they were laughing at the dining experience they had. Please get your act together as this could be a goldmine again. read more

We were able to get a tee time for two for later in the afternoon on a Beautiful Sunday. (There were zero tee times available for the 5 courses closer to home.). We went into the club house to pay. Masks are required. (Good) There was a plexiglass shield between the employee and customer. (Good). The employee behind the plexiglass wasn't very friendly but who knows, maybe he was having a bad day. He told us to get the cart from the "guy outside." The "guy outside" was wearing a mask, sort of. It was below his nose, in essence, an ineffective barrier. (BAD). I asked if we could have individual carts, he said, "No, one cart only." There were about 12 carts lined up. He said we could go in about 10 minutes. Our tee-time was about a 20 minute wait. We noticed that twosomes were teeing off. No attempt was made to make foursomes. We had a twosome in front and a twosome behind us. I guess everyone preferred a lot of waiting instead of being paired with strangers. We were in no hurry so waiting didn't bother us. The course was surprisingly well cared for and in great condition. The holes were challenging but not so much so to make the experience frustrating. We only golfed the first 9 so I can't speak for holes 10-18 but I would return. Just don't expect friendly staff and you won't be disappointed. read more

This is my first summer golfing in the Chicago area, but I have to say Bonnie Brook is a great place. My rating is based on what this course has to offer and service. I played 12 this past Saturday (was unfortunately rained out, more on that later), and have to say that for the courses I've played in the area I think Bonnie Brook is a home run! Weekends after 2:00PM for $33 with cart is an absolute STEAL. Every other course I've played this summer has been littered with dead grass, dry spots, and even a few splotchy greens (I'm looking at you, Lake Lawn Resort!). Just driving by it is obvious that Bonnie Brook has a legitimate sprinkler system and takes care of it's course. The fairways are narrow and the greens are relatively challenging. Plus, there is a stream / small river flowing through the course surrounded by tall-grass - definitely makes for a challenging round. The staff was friendly and helpful, apparently rare in these parts. We were rained out after 12 and the friendly lady in the shop had no issues with stamping the backs of our receipts with "rain checks" for a $16.50 credit next time we come in (a 50% refund). I will definitely be returning to Bonnie Brook this season, not just to redeem my rain check voucher! Editing to add "tip": Enter your phone number by the checkout counter to join the rewards club. We held a rehearsal dinner here and it was absolutely fabulous...the service, the food, the venue!!! All amazing and headed up by their events coordinator and all around amazing woman Marilynn Eccles :) She made all of my visions for the evening come true The dining room manager and chef made the food presentation top notch. We had different food stations...salads, Italian, and Mexican. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. I'm still getting rave reviews about the evening. My son and I played this course two days ago. Before playing, (making the reservation on Tuesday and verifying it on Wednesday), the two people I talked to said nothing about a league outing beginning on both the front and back nine at 3:30. Our reservation was for 1:00, but we let a twosome go before us. At the start of the fourth hole, a black man on a cart pulled up to us and started complaining about us going too slow. He was very unprofessional so I let him have it back complaining that we paid money to enjoy our day of playing golf and we were going to go at our own pace. We argued back and forth a little. (We had already waved up the party in back of us to hit up but they waved us off before the guy in the cart started harassing us). We actually had put more distance between them and us, playing at the exact pace we played from the start. The guy in the cart didn't understand that waiting for someone that was too far behind was slowing things down even more. He bothered us a couple more times through the front nine, we argued less, but still a little, but there was no way I was going to let this incompetent MORON speed us up and ruin our day. I almost decided to go to the pro shop and get our money back, but because I had played this course as a little boy, when the course was better kept and the people were nicer, I wanted us to finish the full 18 holes. We did finish and had a great day because we didn't listen to the MORON and played at our own pace. As a side note he claimed the people told us about the league, which wasn't true, and I guess you could count that as more incompetency at this course ( someone should have told me). The black guy on the cart claimed that we would never make it through nine holes to start the back nine before 3:30 at our pace. We ignored everything he said. Suffice it to say, we played at our own pace, ignored everything he said, and started the back nine an hour and ten minutes before he thought we'd get there, at 2:20. We were done at 4:35. read more

I had my Mom's post funeral lunch here. (Yeah, I know kind of morbid). Mom was a huge fish fry fan. I talked with the head chef and told him I wanted the best of everything. He delivered. The fish was the best we ever had. I know it sounds cheesy, but we (and they) gave Mom a fantastic send off. For the past eleven years I have been hosting a golf outing of between 30 to 45 golfers. This year was the first time at Bonnie Brook and it will not be the last. I couldn't ask for a more friendly staff, a well kept course and an excellent organized operation. Along with a very fair price and great weather the 46 guys think this was the best year ever. Thanks to Tony and the rest of his staff for a great unforgettable day. I'll be golfing Bonnie Brook on a regular basis and for sure our Tropic's outing will be back here next August. read more

Last time out here the round was painfully slow due to a scramble (3 or 4 years ago) so I was hesitant to go back. Staff member in the pro shop and starter were both very friendly and accommodating. Miserably slow, 3-hour back nine. Nice enough course, but for as long as it takes to get through the course, it's not worth it. They send twosomes out consecutively. There are nicer, cheaper courses. read more

I was here recently for a Waukegan Exchange Club pancake breakfast and they have a very nice facilty. I am not what you call a golfer but I do know that it's nice that they have a public course ever now and again. If I golfed I would definitely pop out here. read more

Overpriced and poor food now that new owner have taken over. You could get twice the breakfast for half the price at eat n Park. And by the way a bottle of beer is 4.25 now. New owner let's girlfriend run the place n she runs it like she's running a prison yard all while wearing spandex 4 sizes too small. Just awful all way around now. read more

I walked for $36 on a Saturday morning at 10 AM. Friends rode for an online special of $45. The course condition was absolutely fantastic. Really nice fairways and greens. Even though the course was relatively empty for a Saturday, I was still surprised that there was no beverage cart. That seems to be lost revenue for no reason. Only other issue was that the Back 9 had some oddly designed holes, 11-13 are all kind of awkward par 4's that I didn't think aligned with the quality of the rest of the course. I'll be coming back for the price and condition though. read more

Friday night buffet is excellent. Different items every week and everything always great. Service is great and you can't beat the price!
