Renewing my drivers license for ReadID was a breeze using the iPad Kiosk. They even had staff helping get everyone organized even before they officially opened at 8:30. Just make sure you bring the right documents. Turns out the "Birth Certificate" I have been using for decades was not an official one. So I had to get that one before I could proceed. Employee lost my documents. When asked about it, the only explanation she gave was "I think it may have been shredded" And speaking to others who have been there, this isn't a one time occurrence. The folks there are pretty nice...and that's all I can say good about the place. It's loud and disorganized. I came prepared with all documents and waited a long time for a supervisor to decide how to handle my case. I was sent away without being helped properly. I did call Nashville and they confirmed I had done it right and assured me that they'd speak with the Bonny Oaks people. I didn't hold my breath. Lo and behold, 2 hours later, I received a call from Nashville saying they reversed the Bonny Oaks employees and approved my case. I was grateful, but it shouldn't have had to end like that. I want our government offices to be friendly AND competent. They must know what they're doing or be retrained. Sometimes, being friendly just doesn't cut it...especially in government work. They are very unprofessional unorganized very rude and disrespectful I waited an hour and once I was called to counter 11 the lady was to busy talking to the person next to her had me waiting two minutes before she said anything to me the vision test thing was dirty then when I tried to use it kept cutting off but before that she never told me which line to read from until the third time then once she did I was reading them correctly I know this because I never had this issue before she kept stopping me and was making comments very nasty attitude I finally said I am reading the lines so then she continues to try and talk about me to her coworkers when I asked for my stuff back she continued to try and start an argument instead of engaging I asked for my things back more than once I wish I would have asked for a supervisor I should have known better than to come to this location based on how they gave me such a hard time just to get my ID and how their attitude was last month as well I strongly advise anyone to go to RED BANK LOCATION read more

As a returning resident, born in Chattanooga, I called multiple times to verify the information I was reading online that I would need in order to retire my FL ID, and receive a Tennessee ID. No one ever picked up the phone but having experienced dmv's before, I figured they were busy and tried to be understanding. I arrived on time for my appointment to see it being the most dead DMV I've ever been in, with barely anybody sitting there well after opening. I get to the counter and of course, I don't have the sufficient information to get my ID. If they had answered the phone at any point on the multiple days I called, I would've had a clearer understanding of what was necessary and not wasted mine or anyone else's time. Answer a phone as everyone cant access online, or interpret whatever is being spewed on that site. read more

Here's the trick when you need to get your driver's license, ID, etc. Go in the middle of everything. The month, the week and the dayy. There are not nearly as many people, or a crowd. I was in and out in 20 min to renew my license and get the Real ID. The whole staff was incredibly helpful. Also, if you need to get the Real ID, make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork with you. It will help going through the process. read more

I go in there to switch my license over to Tennessee from another state and have all the required documents and end up having to get an eye exam paper filled out because the vision in my left eye is a little messed up. just to have the paper filled out and brought back for them to find something else wrong with the paper. then have it redone and go back a third time just have a rude associate chime in and try to refuse me but they got their supervisor to overlook my paper to find that everything was fine and correct and explain to them that not everyone will see 100% well with new glasses and that I was good to drive. they need to be educated on different types of eye issues to not cause as much trouble for clients. read more

If you choose this location, be prepared to encounter lazy rude staff, who have proven to be the most unhelpful and uninformed and unintelligent people I have encountered in years. I have arrived numerous times early and had the staff refuse to give any service whatsoever in fear that they may have to work past five pm. Warning...run away, run AWAY!!! Too bad you can't take away the stars! So, here is our current level of Hell. We came at 10 AM attempting to do something as simple as get Tennessee driver's licenses. We truly tried to follow their (on line) list of necessary paperwork to prove that we really didn't just arrive from another solar system. We stood in line for 40 minutes and once we got to the front with SS cards, driver's license, etc...guess what..NOPE...sorry, "you must have a copy of your lease", which we didn't have. Ok..take a breath, go get the friggin copy from the apartment office, eat lunch. Check! Let's try it again: 1:15PM- Arrive back at DMV office, get back in line, talk to a different person...oh NO, the copy of the lease won't fly with our new person. She told us we needed to: 1. Get our copy of our lease notarized ("someplace"???) WTF??? 2. Because the change of address from the P. O. only said "Jones" (note: It actually said, all persons with the last name of Jones), we would need to go to a Post Office and both complete a new form requesting that we BOTH request to be made "a recipient of our new address" so it showed both of our names! WTF X2 Somehow (a miracle??) I convinced her to ask someone else about the copy of the lease and (miracle of miracles), it suddenly became ok! ???? 1:49- Ok, so we sat down to fill out another form and...here we sit, 1.5 + hrs. later and they haven't called an numbers in our category during this entire time. The reason I'm sharing this with you is if we're never heard from again, please look for us here first. We're running low on food & water but at least we're not having to stand outside(yet). read more

Tennessee Department of Motor vehicles literally transfers to "place of purgatory" in Latin. No happiness or sadness simply waiting in lines to wait in more lines. There is no escape and every person in the state is required to come to this similar establishment at least once. It is extremely consistent in the fact you will always have a long drawn out wait. Worst DMV center I've ever been to. Wait times are insane even during the week. Deserves less than zero stars. None of the employees appear to care in the least, and they will give you multiple ticket numbers for the waiting room without clarifying which one is the correct one. This doesn't deserve a 1 star but it won't let you give a zero star. This place should be shut down!!!!! I called before I went to make sure I had had the right documents. When I was called back the lady started doing the information on the computer and then asked me for my birth certificate. I told her when I called it never mentioned anything about that. She told me I had to have it. So I brought it back the next day, then they said it wasn't a valid birth certificate. It didn't have a seal on it. I told her this was the one my mother got from the hospital when I was born ( 63 years ago ). She told me no it wasn't. I told her yes it was. I got my drivers license with it when I was 16 and used it when I went to school. This place changes things as they go and there's always something else they want. It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if they shut this place down and got rid of everyone. The building might make a good place for Dollar General. read more

My teenager learned why everyone jokes about the pain of dealing with the DMV. He has an out of state permit & we went to get his TN drivers license. Granted, it's an unusual situation. *Normanda and another woman (didn't get her name) were AMAZING!!!! They worked hard to track down an accurate answer - after I got through the rude guy at the front. His quick answer was - you have to hold a TN permit for a year - makes no sense since the kid is over 16 and has held an out of state permit for more than a year. Then he proceeded to tell me to "get out of the way". Lesson learned - find someone there who actually knows how to get a real answer. But, it was a great opportunity to teach our son why we need the government to manage as little as possible, since they can't manage it well! read more

I arrived 40 minutes before this location opened hoping that getting there early would make a difference (I read the bad reviews). A line started forming as soon as I got there. A worker came out at 8:15 and handed out clipboards and paperwork. She began shouting like a drill sergeant and told us that if we didn't have our appropriate paperwork out for her to check, we would be passed. I had carefully checked the list of documents to bring with me​ and tried to be very thorough (even bringing four pieces of mail, instead of just two). To my dismay, the lady said that only 1 of my 4 pieces of mail was acceptable (personal mail and medical bills do not count). She told me that I could fill out an extra form to count as my other mail item. When I finally got inside and to the counter, I was told that my 1 piece of mail that had been accepted moments before was unacceptable. I was told to return with proper proofs of TN residency. This location is VERY strict and do NOT mess around! Better luck next time?! read more

Just went to DMV to renew my drivers license after getting notice need new picture. Walked in saw two different computer log in stations, a lady walked up and asked what i needed, i told her renew my license. She explained which machine i needed to uses for that an could pay in advance so all i needed was the picture and get my new paper license and walked out. Total time there, from filling out kiosk questions to paying to sitting to picture and back out the door - 20 mins. read more

Just say a BIG FAT NO to Bonny Oaks and go to the Cleveland DMV to save yourself the stress. Cleveland serves less customers, has less hassle with friendly faces that smile, not smirk, AND they act like they sincerely WANT you to get what you came there for without the game-playing BS that Bonny Oaks dishes out. I really tried to get my license at the Bonny Oaks office closer to my home, but after three tries, bringing back the requested items each time, it was still a no-go. "Ms. Shelia Jackson-Lee" at counter 1 obviously didn't like the way I looked and decided to give me the run around after I had gone home twice before to retrieve the necessary documentation that was requested. So I'd had enough and said a big "FU" to her and Bonny Oaks, and decided to try my luck in Cleveland. After the 25-minute drive north, I sat there for about 15 minutes and with the items I took to Bonny Oaks THE FIRST time, I was happily "awarded" the prize of my new temporary driver's license with the REAL ID star to be able to use it when flying. After forcibly sitting for long intervals and watching the folks who work at Bonny Oaks, I'd say they make their jobs more entertaining by watching all the captive audience jump through their imaginary hoops and changing the goal post at every turn is just sport for them. I explained to the worker at the Cleveland DMV that they wouldn't accept my mortgage bill as one of the two pieces of mail to prove residency at the Bonny Oaks DMV and she said, "We hear that ALL THE TIME, but what better way to prove you live at the address than to provide your mortgage bill addressed to you at that address?" This just proves that the Bonny Oaks people are purposely making things hard on customers for kicks. Don't give them that opportunity to abuse you--go elsewhere. Not being the sharpest intellects, most of the Bonny Oaks workers should be glad to have a job and be helpful to customers instead of throwing up roadblocks at every turn. And, to set the record straight, I would actually give them a -100 stars, if it were possible to do so, but sadly, had to go with the 1 star. Best advice--file Bonny Oaks under "a total waste of time and energy." Go to a center that knows what they're doing and care to help you get what you need. read more

Only 3 lanes open. More than 80 people waiting, not included everyone standing outside. Have been waiting for more than 3 hours and I was here when the place opened at 8:30am. Like cattle in a slaughter house! This is a cluster state run facility at best. I would pay more for better service. This sucks ass. read more
