This place reminds me that people LOVE their plants, and are happy to spend a weekend hunting for a car space in a hot parking lot, just to get themselves some green, and some big bags of over-fed soil. Flower Power is big, crowded and hard to wheel a trolley around in. But it does its best to offer EVERYTHING, and in that respect it does a more convincing job than Bunnings (at least in terms of plants, not so much in terms of pots and gardening accessories). My gripe is that it's not cheap at all, even though going to a big warehouse makes you feel like you're getting a good deal - but the price tags tell another story. The health of the plants is generally quite good, though. The staff seem quite knowledgable but generally you will be left alone to wander (for hours, if you like), in this sprawling place.

They even had an entire section of pots and planters, some locally made by artists. My favorite thing was the little skull planters with a cactus in it that looked like a brain. They even called it "The Brain." I also found a very pretty peperomia, which I wish I could have taken home. It was nicely variegated and I haven't seen those colors before. We parked across the street and down the road but it wasn't a far walk at all. We had come from a small cafe.

Newtown Garden Market has everything you need to make your flower or vegetable garden thrive, or make your indoor herb garden ever-so fruitful. There are countless varieties of plantables, yes. But there are also plenty of things to fill your outdoor space with artsiness and style. I couldn't help but marvel over the tin garden sculptures of animals. Fashioned out of recycled materials (or so it seemed), these creatures are creative and somewhat abstract. Position one or two next to a solar powered gurgling bird bath and you might never want to leave your garden again. For me, I was drawn to the succulents. Spiky, cute, and virtually un-kill-able, these little bad boys are my favourite. Maybe it's because they also make me feel like a bit of a badass. It's not true, but a girl can dream, can't she?

There are some knick knacks too around the front area of the store and an indoor plants area on the right corner (upon coming in). Noticed a lot of new types of plants/flowers and some common ones. The layout was pretty organized and they even labelled the rows of plants accordingly so that it is easier to find. After the store, we popped by the cafe on the side. There are indoor and outdoor seating area and we sat outdoor. Was given a menu upon entering and we are supposed to order our food over the counter. The main dishes are on the pricier end but I can't really say much as I didn't see the portion. Decided to go for a mixed berry smoothie and a citrus tart instead. The mixed berry was alright as some of the berries are not fully blended in. But the touch of honey made the taste a little different. The glass was tall and definitely worth it for the money. The citrus tart. It came with two bobbing whipped cream and some different jam on the side. The tart was incredible. It was sour yet sweet on the top and crispy on the bottom and the side. One of the best tarts I've had so far. More like a combination of passion fruit and lemon meringue pie. Overall, I'm glad that the house owner stopped by here to let me try out the baked goods at the cafe :)

There are shady trees as well as a couple of gazebos so you are better off packing a picnic, coming up and admiring the roses and checking out the nursery if you are travelling up to Dural for the day. It's the perfect place for locals to drop in for that bag of potting mix they keep forgetting or for a bit of colour to plant on a sunny Saturday afternoon. They also stock some fish and associated supplies, and the usual pots and tubs. The range isn't large but the staff are happy to order things in for you. There's nothing like the tactile experience of shopping for plants, and I'm not even a gardener. I fail to see how this experience can ever be totally replaced by online shopping, so I expect this little place will be here for a while more.

We came here on an early Saturday afternoon for brunch. [ Atmosphere ] There's plenty of tables for large or small parties, and the cafe is both indoor/outdoor. And a nice little playground for the kids in the corner. Oh and there's a beautiful view of the pond (with koi fish) from mostly everywhere you sit in the cafe. There are wooden beams with green ivy hanging from it, and just a variety of trees and plants everywhere. I felt like I was in a movie sitting there, it really felt whimsical. [ Menu ] - Bacon, poached egg, caesar salad. It was a good salad, but nothing too spectacular. Presentation was nice though. - Mango smoothie. This was really tasty, not to sweet, and just a real refreshing drink to have while sitting back and enjoying the natural scenery. - Pesto pasta. This was great, you can't really go wrong with a pesto pasta. - Cappuccino. Just your average [ Service ] This is why I didn't give them 5 stars, mainly because the service was pretty bad. At the time we came we understood they were understaffed, but the staff that were there at the time didn't really have a great attitude about serving us. It's times like that when you can see if someone will choose to put on a smile and serve or just be mad at the world, and boy our server was mad at the world. We felt really rushed when she was taking our order, and she didn't bother smiling at all. Even when she gave us our order, we were afraid to ask for more napkins or utensils because she seemed so disgruntled. I felt bad for her, but at the same time, it's really all about being flexible. Overall I loved this place only because of the beautiful scenery. I wish I could take my mum here, she would've loved it. I think next time we'll just order a cup of coffee/tea and just enjoy the atmosphere.

On the carpark side they sell landscape supplies and if you buy enough, they will deliver for you. You often see the trucks driving through the hills area. As all other landscape places today they have the ubiquitous cafe - called Secrets. Great for a cup of coffee and sandwich or pastry but don't expect much more. Most things are reasonably priced. Great for getting garden ideas as they have a few displays. One strange thing to remember, they aren't open on the weekend.

It is one of the largest Flower Power shops, with the staff informative and helpful. Avoid the Flower Power store at St. Ives- the flowers and plants look very sick, indicating that they might not be well looked after. The nursery at Terry Hills have plants which are fresh, healthy and well looked after.

Food was definitely the star the fried squash blossoms..... fried with a light brown crust with warm ricotta instead just delicious and the pumpkin & potato gnocchi also deliciousness in a bowl, wasn't overly heavy, perfect combination of flavors.
