I sat at the bar and ordered a Popeyes omelet with biscuits and gravy. It was very good I definitely would recommend. Debbie was my server and she was very nice and quick with everything. Overall great experience I will definitely come back.

    Benedict flight, classic, Cali, country

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Food and atmosphere were fantastic, I got the Benedict flight and they all were amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also had fresh squeezed oj, which was a welcome surprise and quite delicious. Definitely would recommend.

First time here after a friend recommended it and ill definitely come again! The steller customer service got my attention but the food is what sealed the deal for me to come back. I love the fresh oj plus this place probably has the best eggs benny flight iv ever had. The waffle i had was crispy on the outside and soft inside just the way it should be. When in doubt for a damn fine breakfast go to bonny's

    Cinnamon roll dessert

The food is amazing!! I also ended up trying a cinnamon roll and my girlfriend had the apple cinnamon muffin, both were incredible!!

This is why the omelette is so good.

WHAT IS BONNY'S CAFE? A homestlye diner with oldies nostalgia and background music with a plethora of good homecoming meal choices from breakfast omelettes to pork chop dinners.  Closes at 2 PM. I arrived on a Saturday at 1245 PM and was not rushed. I had immediate seating. When I came at 10AM there was a 2 minute wait. WHAT MEAL DO YOU SUGGEST? The food is just plain delicious. I used to eat here every week for 10 years when I lived in El Cajon. I stopped by after completing the Iron Mountain Hike.  I only order the Popeye Omelette with a pancake and hash browns. Gosh this food is so good. The hash browns are crisp on the outside and soft in the inside with a slight buttery flavor. So good, no ketchup needed.  And when I bring friends their feedback is similar with their meal choices. It's good.  WHAT IS THE ATMOSPHERE? Diner style table service with the option of counter seating. Waitpersons assist each other without the side-eye :). Prices are reasonable at $13-16 per plate. Kid and senior menu available. Wheelchair and scooter friendly accessibility. Indoor seating with limited outdoor seating. "I love oldies just kind of sweet, slinky, Fifties music. The slow stuff. And Billie Holiday." ---Nastassja Kinski #JUKEN123 #bonnyscafe #popeyeomelette #oldiesmusicisgoodmusic

Ham and eggs are delicious! Hash browns are nice and crispy. The ham and eggs were perfect! Coffee was great! Love it here!

It was a phenomenal sandwich! I mean, easily one of the best I've ever had. The #12: Capocollo & Provolone Sandwich on Marble Rye. I asked for mayo and mustard only. The capocollo was sliced wafer thin and piled high. The provolone was thick sliced. Both were of excellent quality. The capocollo was like butter, it just melted in my mouth. It was peppery and had a superb rich flavor. The provolone complimented it extremely well. And that marble rye! Wow. Soo good. Excellent sando. Antonelli's, get some!

I had to try the the #1 as it's the house special and a true hero/sub.... whatever you call it where you're from. I decided on the 8" since I wasn't "hungry enough" for a footlong. Well, it turns out I wasn't hungry enough for an 8" either. These things are huge! The bread is as fresh as it gets, spongy with just enough pull. Stays together without getting soggy and turning into a mess. The meats and cheeses are fresh as well and it's just an all around great sandwich. The interior is simple with a few tables and a big enough area to wait for your freshly made food. Be patient, they get busy and for good reason. It's not fast food, but it's good food! I'll come back when I'm in town. It's definitely worth a stop.

I tried two different slices of pizza, and they were absolutely delicious and incredibly flavorful. Even the crust is so good! My wife ordered the drunken chicken sandwich which was absolutely delicious. The vodka sauce and the chicken cutlet with the mozzarella was fantastic. They make the sandwiches on the spot so service is a little on the slow side but worth the wait for that sandwich. 2 stars. I went with their July special, which was a lobster Caesar wrap and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. The wrap itself is $23 and this thing is tiny. The Caesar dressing is very one note and not very good. I couldn't really taste the lobster and there wasn't very much in it. I came here because I saw their post on social media and I will say the wrap they posted was about two times the size of the one that I paid $23 for. I think I would probably come back for one of their traditional Italian sandwiches, but I definitely would not get the lobster Caesar wrap again. It is way too expensive for what I got. The deli itself is a little more on the expensive side. For my wife and I to each get our sandwiches and a drink was $60 which is a little outrageous for a deli.

The customer service is always friendly, welcoming, and genuine -- the kind of neighborhood energy you just don't get everywhere anymore. It's not a huge space inside and the decor is a little outdated, but honestly that's part of the charm. This is a small business with a BIG impact, and the community clearly supports them because the food quality speaks for itself -- everything is fresh. My go-to order is the Big Chomp on a lettuce wrap when I'm trying to cut carbs but still want to be full. They split open a head of crisp iceberg lettuce and pack it with meats like turkey and beef, plus all the sandwich veggies -- onions, tomatoes, pickles -- and whatever condiments you want. It's crunchy, refreshing, and so satisfying that you honestly don't even miss the bread. Now when I'm extra hungry, their breads are fresh and the sandwiches are top-notch across the board. You really can't go wrong. Just a heads up -- they close at 3 PM daily, so if you're not there by then, you'll have to catch them another day. You can call ahead or stop in, but either way you won't be disappointed. PSA: Don't forget to grab a sandwich punch card. Rack up those punches and you'll earn a free sandwich. Thank me later

It's a walk-up, order and pay first kind of place, then you grab a seat, which was super easy and casual. The person taking my order was incredibly nice and patient while I figured everything out. Honestly, all the food I saw coming out looked amazing, which made it even harder to choose. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, including a really nice covered patio, which I loved. The service really stood out to me. Even though you order up front, the servers were very attentive and came by multiple times to check on us and offer drink refills, which you don't always get in this type of setup. I ordered the steak plate with mushrooms and mashed potatoes, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The mushrooms were especially good. The only small thing was I wish the food had been a little hotter when it came out, but the taste definitely made up for it. My only other note is I wish they had unflavored iced tea. All the options were flavored, and since I'm not a soda drinker, that would've been nice to have. Overall, such a great first visit. Great food, great service, and a really comfortable atmosphere. I opted for the steak plate with sweet potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. The flavors were delicious and so was the piece of bread, but unfortunately, I had issues... I was asked for the temperature of the steak - mid rare. That wasn't what I received. My first bite was, at best, was medium and leaning towards mid well. By the time i took my third bite, the temperature rose and was now well-done. It was also very chewy. It doesn't seem like the steak wasn't well-rested and/or overcooked. Also, there were huge pieces of stalk still attached to the sprouts. I'm all for fresh produce, but they should've been cleaned better. We're still deciding on whether to go back and have something we remember enjoying.
