Overall the food was good.. the service was good., but I ordered to go the portions were small wasn't worth the money I paid for

Came by El Cajon Bistro this morning and tried their egg croissanwich with breakfast potatoes -- and this plate did NOT disappoint. The croissant was buttery and flaky, stuffed with eggs and cheese, and everything tasted fresh. The potatoes were well-seasoned with peppers and onions, nice crisp on them, and the sauce on the side added a good kick. Portion size was solid too, definitely filling. Service was awesome and the inside decor was a sight to see too. Overall, great breakfast spot with good flavor, presentation, and quality. I'll definitely be back to try more off the menu. read more

This place I feel has always been one of my favorites. It's been at least over 5 years since I went there the last time and visited again about two days ago. I got the Ensenada omlette with country potatoes and it was a 12/10 so flavorful, the meat was cooked and marinated perfect in it without the egg being overwhelming. The potatoes had such good texture and delightful from the peppers and onions. My boyfriend got the meat lovers Benedict and the meat was the perfect amount without being too thick and the egg was perfect on it. The gentleman who kept checking on us was super kind and attentive, he was a good conversation mentioned his papa was the cook after telling him how good the food was. It's a restaurant where you order first then go sit down so it's fast paced and don't have to wait for the sever to come to you first which is nice change every once in a while. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff I'm bummed I went so long without going there!! read more

Walking into the bistro, I expected to smell baked goods or at least some kind of food being prepared. Instead, all I could smell was the incense burning. We sat down and placed our orders, then moved to another table in an effort to get away from the incense. The food was good, with generous portions. I had to get my own coffee and also had to ask for ice for my water. Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants. I would have given 5 stars, but had to change clothes when I got home because I could smell the incense on them. read more

They open at 7am and there is plenty of parking. The decor is really nice too inside. I opted for a pitaya smoothie. It will run you up about 7 dollars and change. It's made fresh and tastes good. Nothing too spectacular or out of the ordinary. Pretty average for the price. There is a good display of menus around, so that is good for this business. There is a really nice mural of El Cajon as well. Staff was nice, but not much interaction. Maybe I came on a bad hour. I'll give this place the benefit of the doubt based on an extensive menu. But for now, I'll be generous and give it a 4 star. read more

We had great expectations and had planned on going here for several weeks. Strike one as we walked in. Two young ladies glance at us as we came in then just looked away, not even bothering to acknowledge us. Strike two, go straight to the counter to order something from a very extensive menu that you haven't even looked at yet. Strike three, a stack of menus for you to look at while standing at the counter, none of which has been wiped down for days. Sticky and grimy. Sorry, didn't even make it to the food. I am a return customer and have never been disappointed. Today I ordered the Tuna Sandwich with a side of fruit and a large Latte. Marvelous! Hot, fresh and delicious. They toasted the sourdough at my request and it was perfect with green leaf lettuce and sliced tomato. The fruit is always an "in season" selection of melon, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and sometimes kiwi. The latte was at a perfect steamed temperature and served in a proper latte saucer/mug with velvet micro foam. Cheers to the Barista!There was a wonderful server named, Memo, who waited on me at the outside patio tables. He checked up on me regularly. They have a beautiful fountain and roses to look at while you're enjoying the delicious freshly prepared food. I want to thank Memo for the top drawer service! I recommend to all in East County. Some vegan and more vegetarian options! I had the Thai Tofu Wrap with fruit, (I would have marinated and grilled the Tofu to add more flavor and texture) which was pretty good. My wife had the Lox Bagel, lots of cream cheese and capers with plenty of lox. Bonus for the choice of chilled H2O or chilled Cucumber water. So I ordered an omelette and it comes with hashbrowns. I asked for the hashbrowns to be cooked light. Then a young lady proceeded to bring me out the most burnt hashbrowns I've ever seen. I told her I asked for the hashbrowns to be cooked light, she didn't apologize stated that she'll have them remake it. 15 minutes later I get my hashbrowns and of course, my omelette is cold. No matter if it's one of their amazing omelettes, smoothies or sweet options everything here is absolutely amazing. Love eating here the staff is just the sweetest and most genuine people. They have organic coffee which not a lot of places do and they have such a wide variety of options and everything is also customizable if it's you want to substitute anything with ham for turkey or chicken sausage no problem. Prices are reasonable and this place is always busy when I go so be sure to go and snag a good seat to enjoy the food and ambiance. I always get the Chipotle Chilaquiles and add carne asada to it. My Favorite Dish. They have Great Coffee and have lactose friendly options Wich I appreciate since I'm lactose intolerant. The food was as good as ever, but I was so disgusted at the dirty condiment bottles. The first bottle of ketchup that I opened had a bunch of dried ketchup not only on the rim but on the underside of the cap when I opened it. The next two bottles I tried were a little bit less, but still covered with gunk. They were also sticky which is gross when you use them and then pick up your burger. The two hot sauce bottles were also sticky. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I know how important it is to clean the condiment bottles every day. I won't be coming back. read more

Great food, great service, fair prices for the high quality of food. Highly recommend the Popeye Smoothie. They offer smoothies and squeezed juices, the difference is that their smoothies are full blended frozen fruits and the juices are just juice, so the smoothies offer much more complete nutrition rather than just sugar, which is why I personally avoid juices in lieu of smoothies. Whatever you prefer though. Also Love their Steak and Eggs! read more

Not only did it take an hour for my food to arrive. The driver didn't even announce his arrival so therefore, when I received my food, it was quite cold after I heated it up and realized the small portion for such a great price and I'm being sarcastic and it to be cold. I think I'm going to stop using the delivery service. as they cannot be trusted, and they cannot be professional and I do believe I'm gonna stop using this restaurant as during Covid they were amazing large quantities. Yes, the price was up, but it was well worth it now you're getting spoonfuls for mounds of money. I stand things are however, cutting quality and quantity and raising your price is not good. Before heading home after our camping trip, we were hungry and wanted something filling & refreshing (under a hot and draining weather) for brunch. They were busy and we were informed about the 30 mins wait time and that they are not doing any special request at the time. We were hungry and didn't want to drive somewhere else anymore -- but they still accomodated our request (vegan option), and they were able to serve our food in less than the time frame they said. The food hits the spot, they have a wide selection of fresh & healthy drinks and food. Dog friendly too. The servings were generous and good for sharing. Family came into town last min and stopped by and I ended up ordering a pretty big breakfast/brunch order. I came in and they were still making it. Shock was fine they even offered me a table and something to drink while I waited. When everything was done they showed me what was in each bag and made sure it was all there. The girls and I play pickleball and we love coming here for lunch. They are super friendly and the food is yummy. Good portions too. Their chicken tortilla soup is homemade and so good. This place truly does have the best breakfast in town. No matter what plate you choose, you will not be disappointed. The food is filled with flavors, the portions are generous, and the staff are always super nice. Lately there is this new lady that runs the cash register, she is a bit meaner than the warm friendly staff, and likes to charge for everything including a side mini sauce even though I have never been charged for it since the day I first came here (I.e. five years ago), but other than that the rest of the staff never fail to make you feel home. They do have great fresh coffee that is super hot and is the right temperature to sit and sip on while you wait for your food. The Tijuana Benedict, corned beef hash, and chipotle chilaquiles are my ultimate favorite plates. I cannot for the life of me come here alone because I do not know how I could possibly choose between those three plate. I always come with a friend or my family so I can order all three and share. If anyone is looking for a great breakfast, I promise you this place knows how to satisfy your morning craving. read more
