Great coffee! I came across Phil & Sebastian when I visited Calgary last year, and now that I'm…read moreback in town for stampede I popped in for a visit. There's a few locations around Calgary, I believe; I visited both the location by the river and the location at Chinook Mall - the latter had donuts and they all looked amazing, but I opted for the ube and coconut which ended up being a good choice! Highly recommend if you're in Calgary.

First, I'm going to start by telling you I'm a huge P&S fan…read more 3 stars is horrendous coming from a so proclaimed "huge fan." I love the Marda Loop location, and I love that they do a Holt pop up so I can have them while I work too. But on a few recent visits to the Chinook location, I've been rethinking about this love affair. Let's break down the points: -I have yet to have a stellar cup of coffee that didn't taste.........burnt. -I appreciate the time the barista takes to make a latte leaf.....but in the rush of things it usually looks like the abstract version of the norm. -They are constantly out of grilled cheese around dinner time. -Why serve salad if it's going to be one bite worth, crammed in a ketchup cup? -Why is the front cash girl so grumpy? (Maybe this is specific to me, maybe she hates me). One thing that is completely out of their control: STROLLERS. omg it's crowded enough as it is in that small space, why are there so many strollers?! Getting nipped in the ankle by some angry mother is bad enough as it is, it's like this place is a trap for angry moms to take their anger out on people. I will endorse the business philosophy and the ideological vessel that makes this business a great success, but I really can't deal with another visit to this location. Too much disappointment here. Cute spot, very trendy, and bigger inside than I thought it'd be from the outside. We went on a Saturday afternoon so yeah, packed, but we lucked out and found a seat inside anyway. My drink took forever though, like 20 min, honestly the longest I've waited for a coffee anywhere. Didn't really bug me since I could see how busy they were and the place is nice to just sit in, but if you're in a hurry maybe order ahead so you're not standing around. Only real complaint is the price for the amount you get. Their regular is basically a small anywhere else, maybe even less. But the latte itself was so good I kind of forgot to be annoyed about it. I've been trying to find a good banana latte in Calgary for a while now and this is honestly the first one that's been worth it. Also, it would be a good place to bring a laptop and camp out for a bit if you need somewhere to work or study. Good cafe. Just go in expecting to wait a little and pay a little more than you might elsewhere.

It also happens to be across the parking lot from the coworking space I work at. It's convenient, but it's also a tad dangerous if you know what I mean... Calgary Heritage Roasters has it all! The building they're in is beautifully rustic and offers a lovely sit down atmosphere. Their staff are as warm as can be and go above and beyond when it comes to service. Every part of this place is welcoming! And the coffee, oh the coffee! For sure one of the best in Calgary. Here's a quick review on what I've ordered... RATING: 9/10 - Americano This is my go-to, no fail coffee order. The espresso is strong and smooth and makes the perfect americano. RATING: 9/10 - Dirty Chai I get one of these when I'm feeling a bit naughty... the best treat. A dirty chai is a chai latte with a shot of espresso. The chai flavor mixed with the espresso from CHRC is a match made in heaven. If you're looking for an extreme pick-me-up caffeine buzz, you need to order yourself a dirty chai. This is a favourite for my sister and everyone I work with. At the end of the day, CHRC is an absolute gem of a cafe. If you're in the Ramsey, Inglewood area, it is 100% worth a stop.
