I decided not to take the photos and wanted to return a couple things I had bought. She said it had to be store credit and I let her know I wasn't made aware of that policy. She pointed to a sign and didn't say anything. The return policy said it had to be within 14 days and tags still attached and that it was store credit only. Not only that, but the credit is good for 1 year. That's absurd. We are from out of town and come every summer. Store credit shouldn't have an expiration date. If you want to make a return policy THAT extreme, that's your prerogative. But at least have the decency to make sure your customers are aware before making a purchase. Clothes are nice but I wouldn't recommend simply because of this. I wish someone had warned me.

For those of you not in the know, I'm talking about cute, flattering, expensive-looking clothes at a decidedly midrange price point: $50-$100, mostly in the lower half of that range. They're designed to appeal to those of us who sweat Anthropologie, Tory Burch, and J. Crew, but they're much more affordable. These brands use more synthetic fabrics than the more expensive ones their devotees also like. Even so, they're worlds cuter and classier than H&M or Forever 21. Until recently, this classy-midrange space had nothing in it whatsoever, and I'm so glad that these new companies have stepped up to the plate. Maritime Passage curates these brands beautifully -- it's the kind of shop where you want to try and buy everything. The sales staff pamper you but aren't overbearing. I wish there were more shops like this in the DC area, where I live -- aside from 3 Sisters in Alexandria, I know of none.
